Well only one team was trying to win that game, fortunately perseverance paid off in the end. Special shout out to the ref for being a complete incompetent turd but we won so whatever. Brilliant day all round, almost there.

I have hardly seen a decent ref all season, the standards are definitely dropping. A lot games I've been to lately the assistant refs only seem to give offsides and throws.

So that it's not a huge wall of text, I'll give my thoughts on the match in another post. A draw was probably fair with the first half more entertaining than the second. John McCombe hit the bar for Macc from a corner and then we went ahead with a Danny Whitehead finish after some good build up play. Barrow hit the post from a free kick and then won a penalty just before half time. The penalty looked fair enough to me from the other side of the ground, although Macc fans behind that goal thought it was a soft one. The second half was less entertaining with neither side playing especially well. There were a lot of long balls and areal challenges, some ending with players clattering into the ground, meaning that there was a lot of injury time added at the end. Barrow nearly scored at the end of the match with a Tomlinson header going just wide. 1-1, fair result.

The decision not to segregate was ridiculous, and totally down to incompetence that any trouble came about. Draw was fair - didn't think either team impressed, both hit the woodwork, and our penalty was soft. I think we struggled with injuries - four players went down in the second half - and crowd couldn't get gee'd up for it.

To be fair there does seem to be a general incompetence at Barrow when it comes to dealing with away fans. Before we travelled the other week (and with inclement weather predicted) i enquired with the club if away fans were allowed in the seated stand. I was told that yes the club do allow visiting fans to sit. When i got to the turnstiles i entered with a friend who was allowed entry no questions asked and i (as i was wearing my Halifax shirt) was told that away fans had ot enter via the other turnstile. I only gained entry after telling the guy that my friend had recently had a minor stroke and needed to sit. Then when the game kicked off and the rain kicked in nobody stopped many of the halifax fans behind the goals walking round and sitting under cover even though they had paid less to get in.

Fair play, some people really can't take a joke. Anyone would think he full on stamped on the bloke's head rather than stepped on his backside.

We had a decent referee against Grimsby on Tuesday, didnt notice him much which was a good thing and he generally tried to let the game flow by not blowing up for every small bit of contact. Problem is with a good game like that he'll be plucked out of the conference and put in charge of a League 1 game very quickly!

Well done Cheltenham, the peoples' choice. Now it only remains for Grimsby to finish the job, then we can have a joint celebration at Wembley on 22nd May- their promotion and our continuining progress to the Conference North title in 2017.
What a time to be alive. :woo:

Yeah, done that myself when it's started chucking it down. The away fans are kept to one side of the stand, which I think is where that confusion comes from, but there's huge incompetency. It's mainly just one guy and a few kids (of questionable intelligence...) that are stewarding - there's so much off the field that needs sorting should we ever get to League 2! The only reason we don't have ball boys is because there's nobody qualified to look after them!

After having had a bit of time to calm down from what was a huge game for ourselves.

Aldershot were a decent side, that when you look at it objectively put in a pretty perfect away performance. Both teams were awful first half but second half the Shots grabbed a goal and then sat in and packed their defensive shape. They stopped us creating and we had all the ball and caught on the break.

Beckles looked good but is still very handsy in aerial challenges. The improvement in Alexander from the game at Aldershot to now is remarkable - looked very accomplished today.

It's not really anything to do with being able/unable to take a joke. I just find it a bit a pathetic that he's taken the time for an attempt at trolling the Grimsby fans on Twitter. He could have easily hit 25+ goals this season and as I mentioned further up, could have gone on to score the goal that seals the title. If I was a professional footballer and I'd missed those opportunities through my own fault, I'd be keeping my head down. Before that match, I was more than happy to admit Cheltenham were derserving title winners but now with the Wright incident, Pell's dive, your number 27 (?) directing his celebration towards Gowling and that club statement I'll begrudgingly be congratulating you instead. As for the incident itself, stamp or step or intentional or unintentional, it doesn't really matter. He could have seriously injured McKeown and he needs to show more humility. Twitter comments like that only serve to prove that we're right in calling him a tosser.

So if Omar Bogle had done that to your keeper and subsequently been banned for it being a deliberate act, would you think it funny if he had tweeted what Danny Wright has, or do you think Cheltenham fans might just be giving him a bit of shit on here and on twitter?

I'd find it funny because it was tongue in cheek. Why are the majority of football fans so bloody precious? It's like those people who yell non-stop abuse at a player from the first kick until the last minute, and then cry blue murder when he shows them the v's or the wanker gesture back at them.

I have no issue with the 3 game ban, I've never defended Wright for doing it, although I have said it was out of character, however, it was hardly a vicious stamp that nearly ended McKeown's career. In fact, it hindered McKeown so little that he was able to jump up and run straight after Wright. People need to lighten up a touch.

Had a look at your fixtures for the remaining games and you really need to beat us on Tuesday considering you have Cheltenham, Eastleigh, FGR and Macc left. With Macc not having anything to play for you could get 3 points there but those other 3 games are tough.

Well that's pretty much it then, Pennock has conceded the title and the way we're playing might as well concede the play-offs as well.

Liked Braintree, nice club with decent bar and banter, not sure they look good enough to make the play-offs on that showing though as they look a bit toothless up top. We also have that problem, plus the rumours that several players have fallen out with Pennock could also be affecting our form, which recently has been pretty poor to watch and has yielded very few wins. Earlier in the season we were nicking games playing shit football, which you can put up with, but its harder to take when you're not even getting the results.

If he'd just lamped McKeown, for me anyway, it would be completely different.

It's the fact he's a complete and utter coward and now thinks he's a big man on twitter. Just because McKeown didn't get hurt that doesn't make it right? Would you like players to go in with snapping two footers and as long as the player gets up then it's all dandy.

He purposefully trampled on another player then a few days later made a joke about it.

I've got a lot of time for Danny Wright but those are the actions of a dickhead.

Alfreton 3-2 Harrogate (Jordan 45, Jones 49, Jackson 74) (Thewils 31, Daniels 76)

Superb game at the Impact today. Both sides went for it and it made a entertaining and open game.

Great to see Alfreton legend Paul Clayton on his return to the Impact. He was a really pain in the neck too! Missed him!

We were back to our best today too which was good. Joe Leesley was exceptional with 3 assists too. His best performance in an Alfreton shirt.

Harrogate are an impressive side and to record a league double over them is a real achievement.
Harrogate took the lead on 31 minutes when a poor Duke goal kick was pounced upon as Clayton showed trademark strength to hold off a defender before feeding Thewils who side stepped one and finish past Duke with aplomb.

We deservedly levelled right on HT as Todd Jordan of all people powered a good Leesley free kick past Crook.
We started the second half as we finished the first as it was Leesley once again who beat his man before firing across a quality ball for Sam Jones to steer home for his 18th of the season.

After missed chances and plenty of action it was 3-1 as once again Leesley run the right back ragged before seeing his shot spilled by Crook straight to the waiting Jamie Jackson.

The dangerous Daniels replied just seconds later to ensure a nervy finish.

We were en debited to an World class save from Duke as he superbly tipped Ellis header over the bar for a corner. Stunning save to top off a great performance!
I take Mr Hearn didn't make an appearance for Harrogate? 'Injured??'

This is a rare occurrence, a player being vilified for something they did after they left FGR rather than before joining it...treading on the Grimsby keeper was a stupid thing to do, rightly resulting in a ban, but going on twitter to joke about it...bit of an idiotic thing to do.

The 'holier than thou' attitude from football fans regarding diving, 'stamping', time wasting and fouling always makes me laugh.

Oh ok, didn't realise that there's a way you can justify stamping on a fellow professionals leg and then making jokes about it afterwards? Atleast with fouling, time wasting and diving you can atleast start justifying it to an extent. Stamping though, come on.

He just seems like a nasty piece of work. Probably the type who'd go onto Twitter after and say everyone moaning about it are 'holier than thou'
