About time we had a poll - Evans, Cowley or Cooper?

Right, it's clear to pretty much everybody that the chance of these three guys all seeing out the whole season with their respective clubs is very slim indeed. It could be that they will be poached by a bigger club (Evans) or simply a case of a manager getting the sack mid-season (Cooper). Or when some club discover that their manager is not all that and he's just another overrated fella (Cowley).

So what do you guys think. Dale Vince reckons L2 ain't that hard, so it's easy to see Cooper getting the sack as early as late October if FGR aren't going that well. Similar to Evans' situation at Mansfield - a poor start will make Carolyn ask questions, while otoh an excellent start to the season will see the big boys snooping around Field Mill. Cowley's position is a bit different as I think their BOD will stick with him if they're not doing great, but will surely attract more media attention than he usually gets(if that's even possible) if the Imps get off to a flying start. And more media attention only means more interested parties.

Personally, I reckon Evans will be the first out of the three to move. Upwards not downwards.

Brown touts himself for every job in the Championship and above so it's not like anyone at Southend expects him to stick around, it's frankly amazing he is still here now. I'd say Cowley will be the number 1 target if he departs this season and if the club are in a decent position league wise I reckon Cowley would have a stab at a promotion bid in league 1.
I don't expect this to happen btw, I'm expecting Brown to have another stab at completing his personal clean sweep of playoff final victories, no matter how much he tries to manoeuvre for his old job at Hull or a position on the England coaching team.

Hartlepool and Forest are two we know about, but there's been plenty of others who have shown interest according to our chairman.

I wouldn't rule it out completely, because the Cowleys do seem to be the type to work with clubs where they're settled and can put together some sort of project. Last season I was half expecting them to jump ship to someone like yourselves or Colchester, if the chance came along. But last season's cup run changed everything in terms of their profile and they're now being linked with Championship jobs. Just recently Norwich said they had seriously considered taking them, but opted to go with that German fella from Dortmund.

There's also the compensation fee to factor in as well. It probably wouldn't be an issue for the Championship clubs but it might be a bit of a stretch for L1 sides.

Evans has a past record of 9 promotions, the Cowleys have had what could turn out to be 1 lucky season with Lincoln. Cheltenham were promoted with 101 points the other season and struggled - Paul Cox won the conference with us setting a conference record of 12 games in a row and couldn't adapt to league football despite an excellent pedigree in non-league.

I dare say they will go on to have decent careers, and look forward to theirs and Lincolns progress this season. They'd be best off having a season in the league, as they've never managed in it - last season was the weakest conference in many a year. Do well next season in the league and their stock will understandably and rightfully rise. I expect Lincoln (IMO) to push for the play-offs

I know what you're saying about at this level, and I'd agree but 4 promotions and 5 (I think) Play-Offs in their 10 seasons isn't to be sniffed at, along with 6 cups, getting Concord the furthest in their history in the FA Cup (losing to you lot in the end), leading Braintree to their highest finish and also what he did with us last season isn't a fluke. They have a stupid win ratio over 430 or so games of 55% odd.

Lets remember most of Evans success actually came in non-league, not in the FL. His non-league success is actually less than what the Cowleys have achieved and they've done so on smaller budgets (bearing in mind his dodgy dealings at Boston and £££ at Crawley).

Of course not, but going on a cup run doesn't mean you'll cut it in the league, does it? Again, the Cowleys probably have the ability to go a lot further, but there's no guarantee

As I said in the original post, I imagine you'll be playoff bound. But surely their stock would be higher still if they have had that season in the league doing well as what they've achieved already? I'm not dissing the lads, they've clearly got ability - just there is that (right or wrong) stigma of non-league and folk will sit up and notice if you take the league by storm next season

I don't doubt any of that, they've still got it all to prove this season and I'm sure they will. Just don't say last season was lucky cos' that's obviously bollocks.
