I don't doubt any of that, they've still got it all to prove this season and I'm sure they will. Just don't say last season was lucky cos' that's obviously bollocks.

No, I said it could turn out that last season was one lucky season in their careers, not that it was lucky in the first place.

I know it's not the same as other more experienced managers and he has no league experience as boss, (he hadn't been a full time boss until last season at Lincoln either) but it's still relative.

Danny Cowley got 3 promotions and several high placing/play off finishes in 8 seasons at Concord. Then he guided Braintree to a play off spot, their highest ever finish in one season at the Iron. Then taking us up in his first attempt automatically and getting us to the quarter finals of the FA cup and semi finals of the dreaded Trophy.

He isn't used to failure and as a team with his brother Nicky, work unbelievably hard to achieve those incremental % gains on the pitch. I know they will leave Lincoln at some stage, if it's before the contracts expire in 3-4 years time we will get compensation. We will just enjoy the ride whilst it happens and see where it takes us.

I expect they will go on to manage higher than Evans or Cooper will.

It's not luck when it keeps happening. If they had never achieved promotion before joining us then sure, I could sympathise with your argument. But just take a look at what they achieved at Concord and Braintree. They've had success everywhere they've been so in that respect, last season wasn't a massive surprise.

500k compo I believe for our manager, Grimsby were after both times their managers left last season and some of their fans on the fishy reckoned they could easily afford that due to the Bogle windfall.
I don't think we were after them the second time, as it was a given that Slade was coming in. That was almost certainly in place before Bignot was sacked.

Someone asked me(not on this forum) why I choose these three managers and not others, and I thought some of you will also wonder why. The reason is quite simple - I think these guys are the most likely managers to either get the sack or climb up the ladder to a higher league. I mean, there's a good chance that say Shaun Derry or Nathan Jones will get the sack before anyone of these three do, but alternately,it's hard to see either Derry or Jones get poached mid-season by a Championship club.

It's all about how highly rated any manager is, and all the three managers certainly are. Although tbqh I don't know why apparently some people rate Cooper so highly.

Yeah was just gonna post this, seems no secret that Bignot was sacked because his original 6 months were up and Slade was available and it had all been arranged with Slade before Bignot was sacked.

Fair enough, but he has also been a failure at a couple of clubs. Plus, a lot of fans at those clubs where he managed in the past claim that the footy was dull when he was in charge.

Anyway, it's not that I think he's a particularly bad manager, it's just that I don't get why some people rate him so highly. IMO, he's just a slightly above average manager.

Cooper is bang average, not been on the same page as the other 2.

Given the money thrown at Forest Green by that vegan weirdo it's a surprise they've taken so long - bordering on abject failure.

Mainly because he believed in Hockaday for the best part of a decade.

Don't think many people that saw us last season or Swindon when he was there would describe Coops' brand of footy dull. Lots of goals at both ends, taking risks playing out from the back and a lot of good passing football. Top scorers in the NL last year. Man management was the main problem.

Can't really blame Cooper for how long it's taken for us to get to league 2, he got us up in his first year.

Fair enough but the way Bignot was treated by your players especially was very poor.
Not wanting to do extra training and not wanting watch video analysis (allegedly) is very childish our lads bought straight into when the Cowleys in fact your former player (Nathan Arnold) is tasked with leading the sessions I believe.
Amazed your players allegedly did this ,thought they all did this nowadays?
Apologies if this wrong but I read this on the fishy!!!!

Can't believe I'm saying this (again) but don't read the Fishy if you want facts!

No one (in the public circle) actually knows why Bignot was sacked. Personally, I think the step up was too big and too sudden for him. He went from a couple of nights training a week to four full days and it was rumoured that he was unprepared and generally a bit unproffesional. Given time, he would've come good imo.

I reacted pretty angrily when I heard about what the players did but I've thought about it and summed up that Bignot came at the wrong time. He isn't a bad manager but he was in no way blameless in his sacking.

I don't know for sure what went on with the players to be honest, the only one I know about for sure was that he had a massive bust up with Gowling but when asked about it Bignot said there had been no fall out so he definitely doesn't always tell the truth.
If true what you say though then yeah that is proper out of order from certain players although as Paul Haddock mentions above, don't take the fishy as gospel!

Amazing how little some people on this thread actually know. Truly amazing. I can see I'm going to have fun next season.

Danny Cowley's next job will be in the Championship, he would be grossly underselling himself should he settle for "Southend in October".

It will be for a really really good Championship team too, with lots of screens for analysing and complicated types of future football that only he understands.

The Cowleys did the same here and the I know the fishy is similar to the Daily Mail for 'facts' lol!
Thanks to both you and GTFC Fish for the info.
Danny and Nicky will go higher up much higher.

Bloody hell, a Grimsby fan posting sense for once even if it was a veiled dig.

Miracles do happen, but then I guess we proved that last season already.

Why don't all these league clubs with league managers just bow down to Lincoln and their vastly experienced managers.

Clearly, we don't know what is about to hit us, and may as well just bow to the inevitable.

There was nothing veiled about it! In the couple of weeks you lot have been here I have already compiled a dossier of hilarious Cowley rhetoric larger than the substantial 2014-16 ChrisFGR file. Keep it coming lads, got some gold ready and waiting for the potential downward spiral.

To be fair nobody rated Hurst, even most Grimsby fans, despite his success everywhere and he left us in 6th place and kept Shrewsbury up.

As for us wanting the Cowleys I don't think that was anything other than local papers desperate for a story and the usual Fishy bollocks. Certainly the second time we won't have wanted them as Slade was already in the job in all but name before Fenty sacked Bignot and guaranteed us back to non league in a few seasons because he couldn't be bothered to build for the future.

Grimsby definitely wanted the Cowleys when Hurst left. It wasn't paper bollocks.

Maybe wanted isn't the right word because am sure mosy lge 2 clubs would be interested in them, but there is a difference betweem wanting them and them being a realistic target that Fenty would contemplate contacting Lincoln or them over.
