It's going to be off, isn't it? Accrington fans please reassure me that despite the fact your pitch looked a bit iffy at the end of your game Saturday and it is due to absolutely tank it down from 2pm this afternoon that you have pitch covers and your drainage is excellent, and my half day of holiday, train fare and hotel cost won't be a complete waste of time...

Corr has to start, everything else is secondary, I suspect he won't though, but with Tuesday-Saturday-Tuesday coming up you'd expect him to start either both Tuesday's or on Saturday.

If Uche is still out we should go with McDonagh up top, otherwise I expect he'll keep it the same. I'd like to see Dunne in for O'Neill, Dunk to at least swap with Carroll but preferably to put Maris on the left wing in front of Dunk, neither will happen though.

1-1.

Our pre-match routines and thoughts remain (almost) synchronised.

To keep momentum, we need to put out the team with best chance of winning and have subs that can make an impact in the second half - I'll feel much more positive if Uche is fit, at least for the bench. When it goes wrong, he'd be criticised for changing a winning team but he might. I'd be happy to see Roberts, Carroll (and even O'Neil for this one) drop to the bench. Lewis could also drop out whilst his broken nose settles down. I'd like to have our four best crossers getting the ball in for Corr and McDonagh (and Berry). I'd also like to see more pace at the back than Roberts provides, despite everything else he brings to the side. If it goes ahead, it's going to be like a beach at high tide, especially by the second half. One for the purists ;);)

Norris
Davies, Legge, Wharton, Dunk
Mingoia, Dunne, Berry, Maris
Corr, McDonagh

Subs: Gregory, Roberts, Carroll, O'Neil, Ikpeazu/Williamson, Clark, Newton

I've still not heard the Morecambe away numbers but I'm confident that this will be our lowest (league) of the season.

1,167 (89 away) to see a 2 -2 mudbath. Actually, the more I look at the forecast, the more I doubt we'll start, never mind finish. What are the entertainment options on a wet tuesday night in East Lancs?

Carroll has been ok. I haven't seen anything so far to suggest he's any better than Greg Taylor or that he was worth paying a fee for.

Other Us may disagree with me but my impression is that he lacks bravery; doesn't appear to make many challenges or win aerial battles and also a bit hesitant to run with the ball.

On the other hand he hasnt made too many cock ups either. Maybe he just needs to bed in a bit.

I think all we can say atm is that Caroll's been very average. He hasn't shown anything that suggests he is a great player, but like Hudds says, he hasn't had any shockers either. Also agree with Hudds as it doesn't look like he's an upgrade on Taylor.

We paid a fee for him, and frankly speaking, it's not looking like it was a good idea, but perhaps the club think he's a promising player who can only improve. Time's certainly on his side if he wants to do so. Still too early to say he was a bad investment though.

All I'm sure of is that absolute majority of players do not take too many when playing for their new club during the first 4 weeks or so. Can't say I blame them, as a mistake in their first games will only get met by

Anyways, players tend not to be too adventurous/take too many risks when they join a new club, as just one mistake in their first few games for the club will see them written off by the fans. Can't say I blame them as we're well aware of how fickle we can be sometimes.

As we're talking Hartlepool and there might be some Pools fans reading this, did you lot catch the interview with Carroll when he joined us?

He mentioned that he was shocked by how much more intense our training sessions are.

That surprised me as it seems like the sort of thing a new signing would say if he'd stepped up from a Semi-pro environment, not swapped one LG2 club for another.

It stuck with me as I'd be concerned if I heard that from an outgoing player.

I didn't read the interview, but yeah it's not a glowing endorsement of Hartlepool's training regimen.

Now that I think of it, I sure hope our 'intense' training sessions aren't contributing to the plethora of injuries our players keep on getting. We've had more than our fair share of injuries this year.

Referee is a prick. The weather forecast has been terrible, he should have done the pitch inspection hours earlier and saved people the time and money of travelling.

Not a complete write-off:
  1. I got my Hollands pie and peas and stopped in for a pint at the Crown before heading back;
  2. My mate Mike (stand-in co-commentator) got a night in balmy East Lancs on the BBC without having to do any work;
  3. I managed to get great views of a Bluethroat (Luscinia svecica) on my way up. I'd seen them in India and Khazakstan but never in the UK. It was a bit lost in the middle of the fen south of Spalding.

Carrolls comments wouldn't surprise me,I imagine Hignetts training will have been all ball work,as he thought we were Barcalona.
Our squad was physically weak under him,as you'd have seen when you thumped us up here.
The players look a lot stronger now& matched a big physical Plymouth side,which wouldn't have happened previously
