Barrow "moneybags" AFC spending a 20th of FGR's agent fees - yet Chris still has the temerity to say their budget is small compared to ours.
Ourselves and Gateshead HAVE to pay that little bit more to get decent players up here, so the £9k is no surprise - our wage bill isn't that big from what I understand, though we do shell out a fair bit on signing on fees. Without exaggerating, I reckon our playing budget is about a third of FGR's.

Are these the only clubs that have published? Eastleigh must be shelling out astronomical numbers or disguising them as some other kind of transaction .

Aldershot's looks like they've paid an agent's train fare or put him up in a Premier Inn for a night.
Gateshead maybe, but not sure about yourselves.

Surely the players only actually head up to Barrow itself once a fortnight?

Some clubs will have the players pay the agent so they )the players) know exactly what the agent is getting.

That's a very good point. Safe to assume that a six-figure sum has found its way from Eastleigh's bank account to various agents.

You're right, the players spend most of the time in Manchester, but it's still a hard sell to get players to come up here at all.

How come we had good players before Ecotricity owned us then? Like Stuart Fleetwood, Andy Mangan, Kayode Odejayi, Simon Clist, Mark Beesley etc etc all wanted to come here without massive agents fees or wages.

Who?

Oh yeah, shortly before it was announced they'd racked up massive debts? Strange that...

Surely Aldershots massive outlay of £56 belongs in the tinpot thread

Well for starters two are Conference golden boot winners and another who went on to play in the Championship and terrorised a Chelsea defence containing Terry and Carvalho.

The Clist, Beesley Fleetwood trio helped us totally outplay you when we beat you at the Rec during your title season. We were a quality side back then without being bankrolled.

Bees at his best was the best no 10 ever to play at this level. He was like the Mesut Ozil of the Conference.

His partnership with Fleets ripped up the league.

Come off it Chris, he was a decent striker at this level but that was it. I should know.

Expected our figures to be for the Raggett and Whitehouse deals but seemingly not.

We're down as 10 players but Howe is in there twice and Habergham is down as Sam and Samuel.

Ecotricity were pumping money in way before Mangan signed for you. Without checking I reckon you're about 3 seasons out with that claim. Everyone knew he went to you lot for the wedge. He had been one of the best strikers in the division for the 2 previous seasons.

No point arguing with a fan of a club who actually knows stuff about their club. You will only ever lose

That was the second time we signed Mangan. First time under Harvey he was ace, won the golden boot, then got banned for the next half season for betting on that Bury v Accy game, and then fucked off to Wrexham in January.

Second time he hardly played, fell out with Hockaday, was suspended and then we tried to sack him for gross msconduct, he won the appeal and we had to pay off his wages for the 2 !/2 years left on his contract.

First spell was in 08-09. Ecotricity takeover happened 10/11. First he was on wages Wrexham could easily better, second time here he was on a rumoured 3k a week.

We were paying high wages back then reputedly. He soon went to Fleetwood though.

Moss' Wrexham, Fleetwood, Vince's FGR, Tranmere. He always follows the money.

Yep ChrisFGR is right with all that.

We were able to take Mangan because we were paying good wages back then, more than FGR. Think we paid a fee for him too but it was unknown how his betting charge was going to go, was a very drawn out transfer.

I wonder how much effort £56 gets from a typical agent.

A couple of phone calls? An email? A few cans of Fosters to sweeten the deal?

Maybe the agent was just starting out and can't charge as much as the others.

Mesut ozil? Beesley was a much hard working player than that twat, God I hate arsenal and I don't even support a premier league team, must be the only one at fgr :bow::bow:

True although he never liked challenging for headers ;)

I meant it in terms of his assists and astute passing when dropping into the hole behind Fleets. Very clever player. Wrecked by Jimmy Quinn's hoofball at Cambridge.

I also hear Yasir Kasim was the best Anchorman to ever play at this level.
