Grimsby - Our biggest rivals. The team I hate the most and want to see struggle the most. Just a shame we’ve barely played them recently cause they’ve been so shit.

Hull - Probably the team I hate the second most. Mostly because where I live is full of Hull fans and they’re arrogant and spend time complaining all the time.

Doncaster - No real rivalry there. Just a local club we’ve played a lot in recent years which has made it a bigger game.

Sheff Wed - I think some our fans would rather see Wednesday lose than see our own team win sometimes and i find the obsession really cringeworthy. They do have a few arrogant fans though but im sure anyone would if they supported the biggest club in the area. Overall i don't give a fuck if they win, lose or draw.

Sheff Utd - I bit opposite to Wednesday where some our fans shag em because they also play in red and hate Wednesday and some despise em like Wednesday because its a Sheffield thing. Overall again don't really care how they do.

Barnsley - Starting to annoy me in last couple of seasons pinching our transfer targets on numerous occasions but i can relate to there fans more than the others because they don't have a massive chip on their shoulders and seem a decent bunch.

Doncaster - Did used to have a soft spot for Donny a few years ago in the conference days and especially the season in league 2 i think where you beat Man City, Aston Villa and gave Arsenal a fright in the cup which i enjoyed watching on tv but ever since you moved to the Keepmoat and had a few seasons above us you were running your mouths off too much and quickly learned the obsession you have towards the millers and all the bitterness is there now the pendulum has swung back to its normal place.

Chesterfield - Very similar to Donny (obsessive) , they hate it when where doing much better in higher leagues and like to rub it into us when they're doing better than us.

PSG - the team every gills fan detests, nay loaths. Some say the geographical space between us was determined by a 16th century Saint called PleaSnotGills, hence their name.

Later in life both teams were separated by a channel of some sort, which was built overnight, by the police, after a preseason friendly had been arranged.

Nevertheless we have yet to meet (due to secretive rules by uefa and pressure from the French authorities). And have had a faux rivalry with some shitty outpost called 'Maidstone' forced upon us since the early 90's.

One day we will meet those French bastards PSG, maybe after the apocalypse when the FA has fallen, and I assure you dear reader, it WILL be the actual end of the world.

Bolton - Always will be our main rival despite going our seperate ways since the start of the millennium. The closest league club to Bolton, and their lack of other genuine rivals (Wigan lol) means they reluctantly have to accept us back. They try to make out Man United are their main rivals. Would have been a much better rivalry if they were still at Burnden Park, now they are miles away at middle of nowhere soulless Macron. Had some great games back in the day, Bury surprisingly have the upper hand on the head to head. Gigg Lane is as close to Bolton town centre as the Macron Stadium. Even though we played shite, it was a good atmosphere when we played them at Gigg last season.

Rochdale - 5 miles east of Bury, lots of clashes in League 2 sparked the rivalry. Frequent Trouble at games. Dying off in recent years as Rochdale dominate the fixture. We haven't turned up against them since 2007. Their fans properly hate us.

York - Tasty fixture.

All scummers.

Tranmere and Oldham I'd put in the same bracket in terms of Bury rivals. Potential on the day off the game but no real animosity off the pitch.

Getting promoted and pitch invading on already relegated Tranmere's pitch was a laugh though

Great day.

Bury - got the history, got the cup wins, got a damn fine market, got the black puddings. Shame about the charisma, but you can't have everything... :-) Actually quite like them and share the concerns of their more sensible fans about the chur and his financing of the club.

Oldham - possibly a bigger shithole than Rochdale as a town. As a team, not bothered either way, though quite liked them when they were annoying the Premier/Div 1 big boys 20 years ago.

Burnleh - used to detest them, but got a sneaky regard for the polydactyls since they hit the Premier

Accy - they're alright, and even more tinpot than we are.

Halifax - see Accy...

Bradford/Barnsley/Hudders/Chesterfield/Donny/Scunny - localish, decent rivalry with these. Don't mind them, except when we play them.

Rotherham - as above, except somehow more irritating (Evans/SERNWA??)

Blackburn/Wigan/Notlob/Preston - meh. Somehow got more affinity with the Yorkshire lot.

Stockpooh - snigger, but with a little bit of the "there, but for the grace of God" about it...

Chester/Tranmere/Wrectum - tripod of skank, can stay in non-league please. Hopefully joined by Crewe, but not Vale, who have a certain oatcakish charm.

Burnley - Inbreds. Think they're massive now they're in the Prem. Good manager though, can't wait til he goes and the scum go down.
Preston - Don't care about them, quite liked them until they got promoted and suddenly remembered they don't like us. We're their cup final; they're just like an annoying little cousin.
Wigan - Who? Accy Stanley on steroids.
Accy - No animosity whatsoever.
Bolton/Bury/Oldham - They care about us far more than we care about them.

Little cousin is a bit rich considering your average crowds.

13 minutes is an impressively quick response time, given that the team you support aren't in this league.

'Big city' Preston average slightly over than 2,000 more than 'small town' Blackburn.

I read League One far more than the Championship forum because it actually has regular posts and isn't full of Bristol City fans.

Your sustained period of top flight football and £250 season tickets kind of negates our city status, especially considering the populations of the two places are almost identical. The fact is, neither of us are remotely big clubs these days, a fact you lot are yet to accept.

Hope my response time was ok.

We've just lost 2-0 to Plymouth Argyle, I'm under no illusions that our 'big club' days are long gone.

Always saw Blackburn as the bigger club growing up, but that was mainly down to Jack Walker, winning the league and spending a long time in the PL. However when they spend time in the same league there's nothing in it imo, it's certainly not like us and Leeds where calling us their little cousin makes more sense.

When I was younger both Preston and Blackburn were third division rubbish attracting 4/5,000 to home games, same as us.

What the fuck are you on about? This is the first time we've played you in decades apart from the odd friendly. why would we care about small club who's overachieved for a while? You're basically a earlier version of Wigan.

Were currently in only our 6th season of third tier football and have never been in the 4th tier. We also have never averaged below 7k in the third tier. So your either thinking of some other club or your just making shit up.
71-72 = 8,256 average
72-73 = 9,214 average
73-74 = 7,432 average
74-75 = 12,650 average
79-80 = 10,311 average
Ps. Size wise and crowd wise there's nothing between us and PNE. It's just that we've had a tad more success, but we're definitely not remotely anything like you.

Why would Bury care about Blackburn? We haven't met in the league for almost 40 years.

Given that our lowest finish is 13th in the third tier (when we averaged just less than 7,500) and in 3 of our previous 5 seasons at this level we've finished in the top 3 I'm inclined to say that you're talking shit.

I'm sure there was some bother at your place earlier in the season after the game, though that might be Oldham I'm thinking of.

Was that in the early 80's? crowds were piss poor up and down the country back then, weren't they?

We've been worse than third division rubbish to be fair, all be it briefly.

Don’t believe it was.

We’re also not really arsed about you either. The only reason we’ll be taking a respectable following to Ewood is the fact we haven’t played you since the Premiership days.

Also just to weigh in on the Blackburn/Preston debate...

I'd class Blackburn Rovers as a bigger club.. even it if was Jack Walkers money.

6 FA Cups.. 1 PL title... 15+ years in the Premier League

Then the fact of larger fanbase and larger stadium etc.

Not to say Preston are small, but Blackburn are a larger club imo.

Preston were getting around 8-9k the last few times they were in this division. Blackburn seem to be getting around 11k and that's with most fans protesting against and hating their owners.

I've never claimed we're bigger than Blackburn, I just called them up on the 'little cousin' comment.

Our crowds have never dropped as low as 8k since 1995 when we were in Div 4/ L2 and in our first season back down here (2012) we averaged (11,800) which is more than Blackburn are currently averaging (11,600) despite us finishing 15th. So will be interesting to see the comparison if they miss out on promotion.

I don't think there is much in it in terms of fanbase, if anything you would expect Blackburn's to be much higher than ours considering time spent outside the top flight.

Yes they were shit crowds in the 80s due to the trouble and plod. We'd get 30k one game then 14k next.

To be fair Blackburn are averaging 12.4k
