We’ll do what we have done the last 17 months under Wellens.

Pass it around, look good for long spells, probably fail to turn any possession into goals or chances, then over play at the back and get punished more frequently than we would’ve last season.

Under Wellens we’ve been good at managing games, when we take the lead we’ve always got something from games.

The biggest loss is Vigouroux - the team need to adapt to him not being there. Brynn looks a solid enough keeper but shaky on crosses, he’s also not as good as playing out as Vigs was.

The last two pre seasons under Wellens have been hard watches as he himself doesn’t take them too seriously which IMO was very reflective last week when Colchester beat us, so we need to hope the players can get themselves going now, like they did last season.

Dan Agyei is injured which is a blow because he will need time it looks to settle into our team.

We’ve sold nearly 3k which is very good for us. Usually we’d only take 1200 max to Charlton, which tbh is pretty poor considering it’s only 5 miles away.
Are Charlton charging u £29

One thing I expect us to be is very well drilled and well organised. Crosby is a very hands on coach and will be detailed about set pieces etc. We gave away so many sloppy, easy goals last season that I'm hoping we'll cut out.

I don't think we're going to be the entertainers of the division, but maybe grinding out results is the way to go?

Grindball can work at this level if you’ve got the players to park the bus effectively.

The big drawback is, it’s awful to watch even by lower league standards…so it’s all very well as long as it gets you results, but if it doesn’t turn out so successfully then fans can turn against the team, if it’s not only crap to watch but doesn’t get the points.

Even if it did achieve results, some of our fans would moan but I can definitely see some early pressure on our manager if he employs this tactic and we still lose. Our pitch is huge, so we should really play some expansive football on it.

Wigan at home is a tough one to gauge. One of my customers is a Wigan fan, follows them home and away and he’s got no idea what to expect from them this season. They got a few inexperienced players at key positions, but solid performers dotted around the squad.

We’re still not quite at it, depth is a problem and we’re going into the game with injuries in key positions. I honestly would be surprised if it wasn’t a draw - 1-1.

Not sure what to expect from us at all, we've added options to the midfield and upfront but we're at least a defender short with departures of Poole and Walsh and the injury to Monstma (granted the latter two didn’t play much but we're definitely lacking there).
We lack pace there too.
Unless a defender arrives before the game think it'll be narrow defeat.

Rumours that Dan Agyei is out for 5 months for us.

Major blow for us and him, could see us go back in for yet another attacking player, but thought I'd put it in here as its technically team news.

Lame. We’re really thin on the ground out wide, even with the Jordan Graham signing. Sold over the 3k mark now, so expecting to be top of the away fans table and bottom of the actual table as we shit ourselves and lose 3-0.

Looking like a very decent (for us) opening day crowd against Oxford with 3 of the 4 home areas, plus away stand sold out. This game could go anyway, with any score line possible. Think our ‘new’ defence and more combative midfield might see us squeak a 1-0 win, but I’m not confident enough to bet my pre game pint! Oxford look strong, but we said that last season so will be interesting to see how both teams go this season. No doubt we’ll get the usual University media bollocks trying to create a derby that isn’t there!

Cheltenham Town at home for us.

I’m sure they’ll be fired up to put one over us after us raiding and dismantling them all summer, should be a tough start with that alone.

No idea how we’ll line up as we’ve actually got options this season unlike last year so it’s far from predictable. Assuming Mata can’t play as we’re waiting for a visa for him. Dunkley misses out through suspension, Nurse misses out through injury.

GK) Marosi

LCB) Anderson
CB) Flanagan
RCB) Feeney

LWB) Benning
RWB) Bennett

LCM) Shipley
CM) Winchester
RCM) Bayliss

ST) Udoh
ST) Bowman

Subs:-
GK) Burgoyne
CB) Sraha
LWB/CB) Parker
LWB/RWB/CM) Thorpe
RWB/CM) Sobowale
CM) Kenneh
CM) Perry

Lacking attack options from the bench unless we’re expecting another signing tomorrow or Mata’s visa comes through in time. Solid starting 11 if that’s what we were to go with.

Salop 2-0 Cheltenham (Bayliss, Udoh)

Yeah, in football we've always had more in common than otherwise. Both hate a team from a new town slum, both have had a few dodgy owners, in a pecking order with an all powerful stakeholder in the city, but then if it nets us a few quid every now and then from TV companies who think its the boat race on crack, then so be it. Healthy respect for them if anything, we've both seen some shit.

Anyway, 0-1 on Saturday, think we'll play well but have no cutting edge, Oxford will get a chance and do us.

Won't be a classic, take some positives and the rodger the living daylights out of the next lot with the GASMAN.

12 new players in the squad, 5 potenitally in the starting lineup including the GK and the two CBs. Also two main creative players in our two wingers haven't played many minutes with Bishop pre season. Just need to grind out a few results while the players bed in

Seems we are looking after our own fans, season tickets for under 300 and walk ups and away fans will now pay more.

Cringeworthy behaviour from the club. If I had been considering going there I wouldnt now.

Really not sure what to expect from us. Plenty of changes this summer and we’re by no means done on that front.

Wycombe have some added some good players this window and they have quality already in their squad but wonder if Bloomfield will have them fully in their stride this early on…

For us, we were dreadful in our PSF at Torquay which had many fans reaching for the Valium but we actually looked good last week against a strong Coventry team, which has boosted confidence a bit.

IF we can get a foothold in the game early on and get our ball players into the game then we’ll hopefully come out with a result. Have this nagging feeling we’ll go 1-0 down within the first 5 mins though!

I’ll plump for a solid 1-1 draw which I’d be delighted with and sounds like we’re taking 700 fans which is a decent following.

Could not fault you for staying away....think yours was a £10 game last season

I think every club does that though.

Home to Oxford who seem to have recruited well, we’ve got lots of new faces and would take a 1-1 on the first day.

Looking forward to the new season and in bonner we trust!

Something tells me we're not going to enjoy today, ignoring the weather.

We look a couple of weeks away from really being ready to go. Whilst I have no time or respect for Barton, one thing you can be sure of is that he'll have them fired up for today.

0-2 for me.

I think we'll be a much stronger side in 3-4 weeks and with a number 10 signed.

No idea what to expect today, feel like today is the time to play Pompey away while they’re rusty and we look slick and fit. I feel like everyone is pretty positive of a good season and we have a good feeling momentum right now off the back of a great pre-season.

But then we are truly cursed on the opening day and you know Pompey will get a pen.
