The clue is that he's a convicted fraudster and on top of that is a foul mouthed bellend whose touchline and media behaviour is an utter embarassment.

That's what's held him back, not his ability. Ability wise there aren't many better.

If he was able to be successful either in the top two leagues or successful when he has the same or less money to spend than his rival managers , then your statement would be true. Chairmen and fans wouldn’t care (see MTFC fans last season as another prime example) about his behaviour on the sidelines if he was doing the business on the pitch.

Alas, the only side to take a desperate gamble on him was Leeds Utd, with an erratic crazy Italian in charge, a club that at the time was in a complete (financial) mess who were prepared to try anyone. Evans must of been pinching himself..... Cos that short period aside, it’s Rotherham, Crawley, Boston, Posh and Mansfield. Yup Chris, elite manager you nailed it. Just don’t tell the guys managing in the top two divisions right now :shut:

I've always backed our managers within reason. Dario resigned first time on his own accord. With Steve Holland I gave him the first season and we ended it so badly by almost being relegated he was given a huge budget to try and avoid a repeat of that happening. When Holland spunked the budget on dross and we were bottom of the league by a country mile by the end of September I wanted him out. We didn't get him out for another 2 months or so and Gudjon sadly couldn't save us.

With Gudjon his sacking came as a complete surprise at the time despite losing 4 in a row. However he wasn't playing the Academy players, and doing that and losing games is harmful for the club's ethos, so he had to go.

Dario second time round had a decent season in 2010-11 but then it was clear the following year with an inexperienced squad he wasn't the right man to guide us as we kept making naive mistakes which cost us points. So he had to go but I didn't necessarily demand his sacking.

With that bellend we had in charge before Artell though my Christ that was an ordeal. A good 18 months with Dario's team was followed by him building his own team and failing. I gave him the 2013-14 write off that almost saw us relegated because 1. Of the good he'd done for the club before and 2. Off-field incidents which weren't exactly his fault marred the club's poor start to the season. However, when we had 4 points from our first 11 games the following year, he should've been sacked on the coach back from Bradford. And that was October 2014, how he managed to shithouse his way to January 2017 before he was sacked I'll never know. But it made it all the more sweeter when he was finally potted and then exposed for the fraud he was at Orient too.

So it varies depending on the scenario, but sadly with the money in the game, not many managers will be given the time to build their own team anymore. The ethos of too many sides are far too concerned with every single penny and would rather spunk it on journeymen rather than develop their own and see where they take them. Makes me laugh when I see teams in League Two make a fanfare of big budgets too and how they'll storm the league with it, what's the point? You might get a season or two in the Championship at best given how tinpot we all are and how wide the gulf at the top is now. All our potential is inhibited and limited, so I don't get a fair few sackings that happen in this league at times...

What’s the point? Hopefully seeing a title winning side, a promotion achieving season. Watching successful enjoyable football along the way. That’s the reason isn’t it? Otherwise you just stay bobbing along in mid table, never going up, never going down. No lows but no highs. Safe. Sensible. Dull.

No thanks, not for me.

My favourite seasons are rare promotion ones, and rarer still championship seasons. Not all fans of clubs on this forum have witnessed that for themselves .

I would love to see Notts back in the Championship again, bloodying a few big boys noses that we did back in the early / mid 90s

Thanks ‘Bargain Stag Abroad’ for that input.
Mr Hardy has already backed him , that’s the past. The actual question is if the side isn't performing and come Christmas time we aren’t in the mix (Top 7/8) how much patience will Big Al have?

I’m delighted personally, he’s backed Nolan ever since he was appointed as he should , he is the chairman’s choice after all. From Nolan’s point of view , he deserves to be fully backed after what he’s achieved and how the side have performed since he arrived.

If we struggle, Nolan will be dismissed, like any manager should expect after being backed.

Shit or bust?!?! Really? The same could of been sailed about Mansfailed having appointed convicted felon Evans (Radfords choice) , backed hugely with funds in the Transfer market. Fair play to John he backed him, had patience before he felt the knife in his back. He then, as you know from the Costa, appointed Flitcroft#handbrake

I don’t play golf so not in a position to judge the courses, all I know is I’d rather have The Nottinghamshire’s turnover rather than Ruddington Grange :£:£

Both of ya come across like a pair of nonces when communicating with each other.

Nonces? :ffs: Is that phrase still being used in North Notts? Yuk.

Ive not heard that used since watching an old episode of Till death do us part.

But that was the 1970s so excused
