Still want Grimsby but Braintree as a very close second. Being in the same division as Braintree would be SO bizarre, but at least there would be an away game inside half an hour.

Anyone but bloody Braintree. The scene of some of our very worst performances and they always seem to beat us.

I would have thought whichever teams want to be competing at the top end of this division next season will want Braintree up. If FGR come up they'll have a top 7 budget, you'd think Grimsby will compete as well. Dover have a bit of dosh these days and I don't think they'd struggle.
I actually think Braintree would stay up, but they will be nowhere near the top end of the table.

Braintree fucking Town or Forest Gump?

I can't recall a more tinpot looking playoff final than this.

The only redeeming feature of Braintree for us is it's less than an hour away. There is no such feature for Forest Green.

It'll be such a shame if Grimsby can't get themselves through the play offs. :-(

Hope this won't matter to us, but if it were to then I'd say either Dover or Braintree, simply as i've not been to either

I cant forget some of their gimps laughing at us for not getting out for five years. Karma for them. Totally feel for the other 99%

Any of those apart from Dover and I'm happy. I'd love for Grimsby to come back up after our play off game, great fans.

But then I'd love a FGR local give if we don't go up. Oh and Braintree? A few reasons, they were probably the best team I saw at the Mem last season, they battered us all game but were unlucky to lose against us. Excellent footballing side. They have youth, speed, skill and good tactics. Fair play to them, I'd welcome them in L2. They'd probably stay up too.

Watched both games and Braintree look the strongest for me in terms of formation and tactics. Only play Cheek up front but have a solid defence with a screen in front so will be difficult to break down.

Hoping that we go up to League 1, but if we are still in League 2 I would prefer a local game with Dagenham being relegated this season.

Promotion has to be sorted from that division though. 1 up automatically is crazy and playoffs are a lottery.

You know it's come to something when out of 4 teams Braintree isn't the worst option.

Anyone but fucking FGR, I'd rather go to Braintree 46 times.

Yep I'd probably go:

Grimsby
Braintree
Dover
Forest Green

Braintree above Dover on location alone while FGR below both as they're another Fleetwood or Crawley.

I watched both games, and if everything goes to plan (ie no ridiculous ref decisions and the like) the promoted side will come from last nights match. Braintree are the side that's impressed me the most, but I think Grimsby are more than capable of getting back in the tie. They were poor but still managed to create a few decent chances and would have got a goal on any other day. Dover were unbelievably poor and looked like a lower mid-table conference side, and yet FGR only scored the one goal so that could prove to be their undoing as I'm not expecting Dover to have another terrible game.

Both ties are still wide open, and with no away goals rule in the semi, things could change very quickly if Dover or Grimsby get an early goal. Actually, make that a goal at any time, as Exeter did back in 2008 :brill:

It's probably worth noting that, after a cursory glance at the Non-League forum, Forest Green supporters appear to be both prevelent, outspoken and composed of an idiosyncratic mess of values and shoulder based potato products.

Anyway, in terms of competition at the top next year, Grimsby don't appear as strong as us, Luton or BR (obvious exception ro everything) when we were in the Conference so I'd expect the customary transition season if they make it. FGR don't even have a manager. Weird. Dover, Cheltenham and Braintree wouldn't trouble the top.

Forest Green I suppose as it would be about as near as we get to a local derby (an hour and a half away).

Having said that they used to have a voodoo curse over us back in the day. We always used to lose to them over Christmas even when we were the biggest team in the Conference and they hardly had two packets of crisps to rub together.

Dover, Braintree, Grimsby...meh..

Hopefully Grimsby can get there act together for the 2nd leg we need less teams from the Deep South.

Best of luck to you all if FGR go up - "they're your problem now" is the statement that applies.

Also steady yourselves for Braintree's annual tinpot mid-season break should the impossible happen.

No civilisation ends at Peterborough after that you get the South.
Peterborough can never be classed as civilised. It's the wart of Cambridgeshire for fucks sake .
