Deepdale is fine, modern but fairly unique.

Preferred it when it was terracing but it was a good redevelopment.
Bit bland I thought as the four stands are all identical, but it's not a bad away end.

To me you just listed a shit load of old grounds. There ain't much soul left in them come Saturday 3pm. History and 'character' in abundance but they're full of half and half scarfers who inbetween checking Instagram and Facebook might belt out a hi ho silver or some other shite half arsed attempt at creating an atmosphere.

No doubt any ground is decent on it's day, but all of those you've listed I've seen where their kop or something similar is sparsely populated and it's an absolute shadow of it's former self.

Give me a decent city to get a beer in with either the option of a good night out or a quick return home opposed to wanting to go to a game because it's ground has got soul.

Each to their own, maybe I just don't enjoy it as I used to.
A good city/town is as much of a factor as the ground is in a good away day, but I'm not a massive fan of the newer builds. There are lots of shitholes like Griffin Park, but I'll be sad when they move to a boring new stadium.

The Invincibles is a bit different, with potential to add another tier if we ever had a sustained run in the Prem (lol).

I don't mind it though, rebuilding a stadium and having 4 different stands would be a bit odd.

Have you been to ours since the redevelopment? They're all different stands they just link round the three redeveloped ones.

Never been full stop, looks a bit like the Riverside from pictures.

Our old terraces were pretty ancient, putting seats in them wasn't really an option I don't think, imagine the capacity would have been very low if it was even possible.

The Riverside? Nothing like it mate, looks more like Elland Road (as it should given that's what it was based on) with the huge West Stand (east at ER) then the three joining round.

Whilst not disagreeing with the lookalike bit, show me a ground at this level that isn't soul-less and full of the modern day football fan. I don't really get that argument today.

You have an old football ground, which has loads of history. It's also a shithole, full of empty seats and the atmosphere is mostly on it's arse. This could pretty much be said about every non-modern stadium left. Bar the small ones maybe that do get packed out.

Ninian Park was a class ground but the occasions I went there it was a pretty souless shithole. Sure it was buzzing for the big games, the local derbies and in their promotion chasing years I have no doubt. I'm sure other people have plenty of past stories to disagree but in the here and now of football I bet there aren't many.

I think the glory days were long gone before I came onto the scene, so let's not pretend that football stadiums and fanbases aren't on their arse.

Happy to take a barrage of abuse, stick me neck out time.
Agree about the atmosphere and empty seats, but that's wasn't the argument. Villa park a shithole?

Unless I’ve misunderstood, but you mention empty seats at these grounds and say they’re full of the ‘modern’ football fan.

Ipswich as an example, is down to the ‘hardcore’ (in the sense that they will always go) fans and these are not the modern fans you talk about. Empty seats, lack of atmosphere yes, but full of the modern fans? Never.

The ones that are ‘modern’ have deserted Town because they crave a top team as it’s easy to follow now with so many games on TV. These are ones who would be on Instagram at games and wear half and half scarves.

Your idea of a football away day is essentially the ‘modern’ fan. Out drinking on the p*ss and working out how to get home with a 90 minute match being an inconvenience in between

I think you have, full as in the the majority of people that attend, not as in a full capacity.

Ipswich must be an exception to the rule then, good for you.

I wouldn't really say it's the modern way tbh but cheers for the snipe. The 90 minute match, along with pre and post match, to me is mostly a time to have a bit of social with friends I don't see all week, watching a team we support, hardly an inconvenience. I don't live 20 minutes away from PP anymore so a day at the football is a good day out for me. I'd wager that more people just get in their cars, grab a mcdonalds, watch the 90 and head straight home rather than what I do.

Do you not think they contribute to this soul that everyone bangs on about? Shithole was unfair. Surrounding area is like the Gaza strip but shouldn't take anything away from the ground. Old fashioned but in good nick.

you obviously don't travel much

No only 75 of the 92 English league clubs (including a few who aren't English, but want to join us in our league when it suits them) a few European ones, a few non league, a few neutral venues, over 100 different grounds in total.
I can't wait till I start travelling abit.

Says enough about the quality of the Welsh league when a university almost wins it :animatedf:

Didn't Cardiff get promoted in 2010/11 when Craig Bellamy signed?

No you fool, it was in 07/08 when we signed the legend that is Robbie Fowler. Once again Cardiff's achievements going unnoticed and unappreciated due to the blatant racism prevalent in the EFL. Disgusting.

FWIW I don't think we'll go up, but I don't think we'll fall away either. Knocked out in the play-offs will do because I can't bear another loss at Wembley.

At the beginning of the season I came on here and backed my team. I said we would go up and you all laughed and mocked me. Where are you now????

I'm here. You won't go up. We will finish higher than your predicted 15th. You'll finish below Bristol City, Villa and Blades. Now fuck off. :bg1:

More importantly where have you been for the last 3 weeks?
Before you have a dig back, I have been in the Relegation thread.

Christ. One win and Coventry fans are back giving it big to clubs three divisions above them.

Cardiff must be one of the most dire teams to watch, just like the last time they went up, but they're somehow still grinding our results. Colin working his magic with what is largely a set of cloggers once again.
