For me in the time I've been watching Wednesday it has to be Adam Johnson when he was coming through against Middlesbrough, could tell he was going onto bigger things, we all know what happened there though.

Jordan Rhodes 4 goals against us for Huddersfield back in League One in a thrilling 4-4 draw also deserves a mention, been a lot of doubters lately but you don't fluke a record like his.

What are yours?

3 others I can recall, Michael Owen scoring his first professional hattrick, Dion Dublin also scoring a hattrick (and still losing) and a great performance from a young Gareth Bale in a 3-3 draw (Crossley game). Knew that day he would be a great player.
Also how can I forget Paul Cannoville for Chelsea on a couple of occasions. Apparently he never did much against anyone else ever.

None of these come close to the performance of one of own players in that match against West Ham.

Marek Saganowski for Southampton when they spanked us 6-0 at Molineux. Everytime he hit the ball they scored.

Close 2nd would be Darren Randolph for Birmingham in Gary Rowett's first game as their manager.

Over the last 12 months one I'd pick out would be Jon Jo Shelvey for Newcastle, despite us winning the game you could tell he had no business playing the the Championship.

Suarez against us for Ajax in a friendly.
In competitive games Ben Pringle ran the game for Rovrum when the beat us in 2013 in one of Cotterills first games in charge for us back in League 1.

Over the years the players that stand out for me in home matches at Bramall Lane are:

Abdel Tarabt playing in a very good QPR team, think we lost 0-3 and they had Warnock as manager. Tarabt was playing like Messi (and no I’m not exagerrating) doing step overs and showboating making Chris Morgan look like a complete donkey taking the pi$$. That day I was convinced Tarabt would impress in the PL but he always seemed to struggle in the top league.

Another one from a few years earlier was Kevin Doyle whilst playing for a really impressive Reading team. Thought he looked class and far far too good for Championship level.

Only thing that stopped Adel Tarrabt from being a very, very good player was himself seemingly. Had a big attitude on him.

Best individual peformance against us this season was definitely Samu Saiz for Leeds, had Aden Flint on toast.

A few I can remember in relatively recent years was JET for Doncaster and Matt Done for Sheffield United the season we went up. Moussa Dembele was superb when he played for Fulham too.

Cannot say I remember opposition too well (my memory is poor at the best of times so I try to remember the positives first), but I remember a Prem game where Santi Cazorla was waltzing through our team effortlessly, even if most Prem clubs did it that season he definitely shone. Think he scored 3 and assisted another.

At this level, I remember an 18 year old Victor Moses tearing us apart in one of Brendan Rodger's last games. Probably the best young player I've seen at this level, better than Gylfi :eyes:

Bakary Sako always played well vs Brizzle.

I remember Bale playing against us for Saints at LB, could see his pace was something else even then.

We've played some top teams even in recent years so no surprise for me to say Sergio Aguero. He didn't score 3 or 4 or anything but his general ability was pretty special to watch live.

That Owen performance was fantastic.

Kanchelskis for Everton also stands out.

He was terrible that game, Chris Sedgwick absolutely rinsed him but he was only 16/17

I remember Peter Crouch taking the piss out of us for Spurs when they spanked us in the cup, scored a hat trick, including a back heel.

Also seen him have an absolute nightmare at Deepdale too when he was on loan at Norwich.

One Championship performance that always stands out was a South Korean guy called Ki-Hyeon for Wolves, I think it was a one-off but he looked an absolute world beater when we played them once.

Chris Iwelumo always turned up against us too.

I remember a young Ryan Giggs giving us a hard time for Man Utd at Elm Park.

Hernan Crespo was on another level when we played Chelsea back in 2003.

I have to say Cristiano Ronaldo was a real joy to watch, as was Thierry Henry when Arsenal gave us an absolute pasting in our first season in the Prem.

Seol Ki Hyeon yeah, he was a cheating fucker though. Our own fans booed him at Molineux for persistantly diving, he was sold to Fulham or someone shortly after.

I remember that Iwelumo hatrick at Deepdale, was a great game for us. He was sent off too, if I remember rightly we had made all 3 subs too so we had to put Jason Shackell in goal and you scored a penalty. My dad jumped up in the Wolves end when you scored it, he had a tenner on 1-3

Forgot about Kanchelskis terrorising us. Also now remember the duo of Collymore and Bryan Roy absolutely tearing us apart.
Think Roy was the better of the 2 if memory serves me, certainly the best partnership I recall playing against us.

Paul Merson for Pompey when they went up. He played the entire game at half pace, barely got above a jog and completely ran the show. One of only 2 opposition players to receive motm from our supporters club (other being Darren by field). If merson had a more professional attitude he’d have ranked alongside the best this country has produced imo. Genius.

The thought of old cement legs Sedgwick rinsing anyone is unbelievable.
