Best Opposition Team?
Wycombe
- Very solid when we played them at home, played some decent football.
Worst Opposition Team?
Stevenage
- They were easily the worst side to visit Brunton Park this season, we beat them 3-0.
Best Opposition Player?
Not too many standout players, maybe Matt Tubbs.
Worst Opposition Player?
Again, no one really stands out, maybe the York 'keeper, Olejnik?
Best Opposition Fans?
Portsmouth
. Great numbers considering the distance, and were very noisy. Pools fans were decent too.
Worst Opposition Fans?
Dag & Red
, sorry Daggers!
Although it was to be expected considering the club size/distance.
Best Opposition Ground?
Morecambe
. Nice little ground, and and a good atmosphere. York was alright too.
Worst Oppositon Ground?
None.
Best Opposition Goal?
Duckworth for Hartlepool.

Best Opposition Team?
Southend, even when we beat them 4-2 they looked decent throughout.
Worst Opposition Team?
Cheltenham, the 5-1 at home especially, looked way out of place in L2.
Best Opposition Player?
James Collins, was a handful when Shrews beat us 3-2.
Worst Opposition Player?
Hmm.. Dan Butler played a shocker when we beat Pompey 1-0, so I'll go for him.
Best Opposition Fans?
Best Home support Portsmouth, best away support Southend.
Worst Opposition Fans?
Accrington, think they were below 100 and sat in silence most the game.
Best Opposition Ground?
Portsmouth possibly, I quite liked Cheltenham too if only for the surroundings.
Worst Oppositon Ground?
Accrington for size, Southend's for having a very suspect and leaky roof.
Best Opposition Goal?
Honestly can't remember any great goals we conceded this season... Ben Coker's goal in the 2-0 loss back in August was decent IIRC.
Most Annoyed I've Been This Season
When Southend were given the SOFTEST penalty decision I've ever seen in the 95th minute of a play-off semi final
Most Relieved I've Been This Season
When Barry Corr contrived to send said penalty over the bar.
Goal I Celebrated The Most
Tom Pett vs Southend on Thursday, lost control of my limbs!

That's all the categories I can be bothered to make up for now...

Best Opposition Team? Northampton looked very good away from home
Worst Opposition Team? Difficult to say, Exeter/Carlisle were crap at our place, but I didn't see Carlisle away who were apparently terrible/hungover
Best Opposition Player? Timlin of Southend looked supremely composed when we played away at their place
Worst Opposition Player? Too many to choose from
Best Opposition Fans? In terms of following, Hartlepool's rent-a-crowd for the game at our place. To be honest, not much atmosphere was brought to our place in terms of away end noise.
Worst Opposition Fans? None stand out as either good or bad
Best Opposition Ground? As much as it pains me, Luton's ground. Big yet old school, good away match, despite the last 30 minutes collapse.
Worst Oppositon Ground? Oxford. 3 stands, nuff said.
Goal I celebrated most? Josh Carson's goal for us at Luton. After being played off the park on our own patch by Dagenham, we went to Luton on the Tuesday night fearing the worst with them being in good form. After riding our luck in the first half, we took the lead in the 60th minute and my mate decided that a rugby tackle was the best manner of celebration. Cue a domino effect along our row. Fortunately, we were still recovering when we scored our second, but it went downhill after that. Closely followed by Russ Penn's 30 yard howitzer to guarantee safety against Morecambe. Belter.

Best Opposition Team? Shrewsbury were a standout earlier in the season, but since then, no team has really impressed me that much. League this season was very even, a fag paper between a lot of teams.
Worst Opposition Team? Dagenham when we played them at home were dreadful and looked liked they were going down, but they improved late in the season with Jamie Cureton being a constant menace.
Best Opposition Player? Again, can't remember many standouts, but Callum O'Dowda of Oxford was very impressive and has got a big future ahead of him.
Worst Opposition Player? Again, no one really sticks in the memory.
Best Opposition Fans? Our away end was only filled a few times this season, but Royal Antwerp in pre-season were unreal.
Worst Opposition Fans? Stevenage fans despite the fact they were guaranteed a play off place sounded like they were bored and despite the fact they had nothing to gain - seemed to take pleasure in stopping us at all cost. There were many occasions of alleged racist chanting.
Best Opposition Ground? Always enjoy going to Southend - a ground, like ours with a lot of character.
Worst Oppositon Ground? I was abroad this season, but Mansfield's ground for obvious reasons. Oxford is also a pig to get out of - if there was a fire, 100s of Luton fans wouldn't have been able to get out of the stadium.
Best Opposition Goal? Alfie Mawson for Wycombe in the televised game.

Kenneth, please enlighten me why Mansfield is worse ground?

Could it be that the massive loooouton have never ever won a league game there.

I only made it to about 12 games this season so some picks might seem odd

Best Opposition Team?

L2 was low on quality this year, many sides just put 10 men behind the ball so it's hard to judge. From what I've seen Southend were probably the best, as they caused us problems in the second half and looked like they we actuall pro's unlike many teams.

Worst Opposition Team?

Mansfield home and away without any doubt. They genuinely were an insult to this league, and offered nothing upfront. 4 meetings and 1 goal conceded since they got promoted tells its own story.

Best Opposition Player?

Again not seen that many games but Taylor for Cheltenham bossed the midfield on the opening day (and bullied the ref) and David Worral (ex Bury) was a class above when he came on 2nd half against us last month. Completely changed the dynamic of the game and scored a peach of a free kick.

Worst Opposition Player?

Literally any of that Mansfield team. But if we are being specific I'd either pick Matt Rhead or the defender who got rinsed by Mayor in the home fixture.

Best Opposition Fans?

Hmm, Oxford weren't too bad at our place, York brought a fair number to Gigg Lane too. Southend were noisy after their goal. If I was there I'd imagine Shrewsbury as they brought over 1,000 (the only side to do so this season, awful league)

Worst Opposition Fans?

Cheltenham brought about 160 on the opening day. Morecambe, Accrington and Mansfield all brought less than 250 and all 3 sat in silence. Burton also get a deserved mention for singing one song when we played them away.

Best Opposition Ground?

Only made it to 3 away league games. The Macron (Bolton) would be the best but If it's L2 only then probably Tranmere, big ground and sound projects well.

Worst Oppositon Ground?

AFC Wimbledon is the worst as you can only see half of the pitch, absolutely dreadful ground all round. Didn't go this season but did last season and it hasn't changed I imagine.

Best Opposition Goal?

Again, we haven't had many good goals scored against us, atleast a third of our goals conceded this season have come from errors rather than actual skill. Hanks goal for Cheltenham against us on the opening day was nice and the David Worral free-kick was perfectly struck.

Best Opposition Team?
We seemed to be able to make good teams look ordinary and bad teams look world beaters this season but Man U and Birmingham probably edged out Southend for this spot.
Worst Opposition L2 Team?
Kavanagh's Carlisle were woeful after 20 minutes
Best Opposition L2 Player?
Mark bloody Tyler.
Worst Opposition L2 Player?
None could match our duds. As we got Matteo Lanzoni out on loan to Pools, it could be him but I'll go for Jason Mooney - who played a big part in our result at York.
Best Opposition Fans?
Best Home support Hartlepool (the Middlesborough fans even learned the Poolie songs for the day), best away support Burton (easy choice) but it is always a pleasure to welcome Luton.
Worst Opposition Fans?
Man U, both matches. We gave them nothing to be "good" about at the Abbey and at Old Trafford most of the Mancs we spoke to were embarrassed by their day trippers - wish we'd given them more to shout about.
Best L2 Opposition Ground?
I never went to Portsmouth so Carlisle, despite the wind off the Solway Firth.
Worst Oppositon Ground?
Stevenage for the pitch. Mansfield for 3 sides, parking ticket on the grass verge (Conference days), empty seats, stewards and general atmosphere - but I keep going back.
Best L2 Opposition Goal?
There were a few but Burton's first in the last game stands out as different class.
Most Annoyed I've Been This Season
When Morecambe mugged us back in August (2nd home match)
Most Relieved I've Been This Season
Getting our first league win under our belt first game against Plymouth - Oh! this season is going to be OK after all. Worries put to bed for 5 months
Goal I Celebrated The Most
Josh Coulson's goal in above match.

I only watched a handful of games, all at home so I'll only answer a few.

Best Team:
Shrewsbury, by a mile. Down to 10 men for a long time and absolutely bossed us and deservedly win 1-2.

Worst Team:
Mansfield. Awful team of 11 players 6ft5 and over who just pump balls forward to Rhead. It wasn't pretty and certainly wasn't effective.

Best Player:
Woods, Shrewsbury. In that game he ran the show. One of the best performances I've ever seen at this level. So calm and composed on the ball and dictated the play throughout.

Worst Player:
There's a theme emerging, Matt Rhead. Absolute donkey of a footballer. He's big and tall and that's it. Can't pass, can't control, can't shoot, even his heading was suspect. How he's a professional footballer even his mother can't understand.

As I said though, I only saw about 7 games.

Edit: I also did Northampton away so they win best and worst ground by default.

Best Opposition Team?
Meh. Not been impressed by anyone this season really. I'd say Bury, they looked really good in the game at the start of the season down here (despite looking bang average the 3 games after in league/cup). Poor league in quality terms.

Worst Opposition Team?
Stevenage. Long ball, kick and rush, throwing themselves down with no real attacking threat. Even at the game there in October they were dire, we should have won by 4 or 5.

Best Opposition Player?
Ryan Woods, Shrewsbury. Big future.

Worst Opposition Player?
Fella who fouled Ruddock for our penalty at Cambridge. He had a mare. Tait?

Best Opposition Fans?
Hartlepool for their 40 minute rendition of Three Little Birds

Worst Opposition Fans?
Could list plenty here. Stevenage no noise, Northampton no noise, Oxford no noise from those with numbers. Dagenham, Accrington, York etc rubbish numbers

Best Opposition Ground?
I like Carlisle. Shame that terrace at the end isn't usable. Helped of course by a 1-0 win in 20 degree heat!

Worst Oppositon Ground?
Accrington or Oxford

Best Opposition Goal?
Wycombe's 3rd? At the kenny. Think Mawson was the scorer.

Goal I celebrated the most?
Cullen's winner at Carlisle. Delirium

Best Opposition Team? Bury - did the double and beat us up there with 10 men
Worst Opposition Team? Hartlepool were uber gash at Sixfields
Best Opposition Player? Alfie Mawson looks a superb prospect
Worst Opposition Player? Alex Lacey - when he came on for Luton the game changed in our favour
Best Opposition Fans? Oxford always pack the away end and make noise
Worst Opposition Fans? Cheltenham - quietly accepted their fate as they went down
Best Opposition Ground? York - shite ground but a summer August drinking in York is great
Worst Oppositon Ground? Oxford - dull
Best Opposition Goal? Alex McDonald for Burton vs us - superb free kick

Goal I celebrated most - Richards at Mansfield

Tool(e) of the year - John-Joe seeing red on his own day.

Best Opposition Team: Bury, Deserved to go up. Played good football and put the cox era of mansfield to shame, the way they play is what murray wants us to be like and I'm not complaining.

Worst Opposition Team: Hartlepool, It was embarrassing to watch them at times and its amazing they stayed up. Cheltenham were also just as bad, but had a bald centre mid who played very well!

Best Opposition Player: Jayson Leutwiler, not many keepers get a mention but he's been class both times I've seen him.

Worst Opposition Player: From the games i saw meaning there are far worse but purely because of the hype around him, Ryan Woods (21). On the performance i saw of him, he was up against Jack Thomas (17) and he ran rings around him and his overall game made woods look so poor. We have a very special player on our hands in Thomas and his showing against a similar player thats in the top three players of the season excited me for his future.

Best Opposition Fans: Shrewsbury, they were great, such good atmosphere!

Worst Opposition Fans: Accrington... did they bring any?

Best Opposition Ground: Big fan of Plymouths

Worst Oppositon Ground: Accrington

Best Opposition Goal: Difficult because we only conceded sloppy goals from terrible mistakes, don't recall too many screamers and well worked goals going in during the games i saw. Jed wallace maybe?

Best Goal scored by us: Jack Thomas... simply unbelievable

For me, a ground is more than concrete, steel and plastic. Setting, stewards, acoustics, food/drink and atmosphere are far more important in reaching a judgement - and that parking ticket still rankles even though it was 2 or 5 matches back.

Best Opposition Team?
Shrewsbury. Produced a comeback win at their place and then played us off the park at ours albeit we helped them with some terrible football.
Worst Opposition Team?
Cambridge. Scored a comical own goal at Fratton and then somehow managed to concede six to us on their own patch in February when we had only scored six away goals all season. They were the only team we done the double over.
Best Opposition Player?
Ryan Leonard of Southend always seems to play well against us.
Worst Opposition Player?
Any of the Cambridge defenders.
Best Opposition Fans?
Luton brought down plenty of fans and made a fair bit of noise despite getting beaten quite comfortably on the day.
Worst Opposition Fans?
Morecambe. Very low on numbers and no noise at all, given that we beat them 3-0.
Best Opposition Ground?
Tranmere is a decent day out.
Worst Oppositon Ground?
AFC Wimbledon's ground is terrible. The sooner they move, the better it will be for everyone.
Best Opposition Goal?
Jack Thomas pearler at Mansfield.
Most Annoyed I've Been This Season
Losing 1-0 to Aldershot in the FA Cup on live TV. First time we've ever lost to a non-league side and it was pathetic.
Most Relieved I've Been This Season

Goal I Celebrated The Most

Racist chanting?! Based upon what reports? We had a couple of 'lads' trying to give it the big'un as per on local away days but I definitely didn't hear anything of that sort?

My apologies, I didn't word that very well. I meant throughout the season there have been reports of away fans chanting racist songs - from away fans themselves.

Most Annoyed I've Been This Season
When we managed to get beat off Shrewsbury even though we were leading 1-0 going into 4 minutes of added time.
Most Relieved I've Been This Season
When we secured our safety at home to Plymouth.
Goal I Celebrated The Most
David Amoo scoring the winner at Morecambe on Boxing Day in front of 1600 Cumbrians.
Worst Loan Signing
Definitely Georg Iliev from Bolton, one of the worst players I have ever seen, he barely got involved in play, yet he somehow stayed in the team for 4 or 5 games. In one game, I think he touched the ball less than 5 times.

Best Opposition Team?
Either Burton or Shrewsbury for me. We took the lead against both of them, in Burton's case in both games home and away, and they both went up another level and showed why they finished 1st and 2nd respectively. As I've said since I saw us play them though, the team I most enjoyed watching was Wycombe, despite the fact it was a gritty 1-0 win they got at our place, I just find them a really likeable side, all working for eachother etc. Hope they make it.

Worst Opposition Team?
The Hartlepool side that we faced away in August was pretty bad, I was convinced back then that they were going to go down, they looked awful - so credit to Moore for keeping them up! Honourable nominations to Carlisle and Accrington, although they were on the beach by the time we played them at the end of the season, and we absolutely shithoused our win at the Crown.

Best Opposition Player?
For sheer influence on a game I haven't seen better than El Khayati at Burton, talismanic figure when he came on - sort of player I'd love to watch. Agree with C&B though that Woods was excellent as well.

Worst Opposition Player?
Steve McNulty. Probably one of the worst centre half performances I've ever seen at Victoria Road when we faced them a couple of months ago.

Best Opposition Fans?
For Exeter to bring near enough 500 on a Friday night was brilliant I thought, and you could hear them (although I was listening on the radio for this one).

Worst Opposition Fans?
None really strike off the top of my head, was a bit disappointed Wimbledon didn't fill our stand out like they usually do, but it was the end of the season so understandable really. Not that fussed - anyone who makes the effort to travel deserves the credit.

Best Opposition Ground?
I loved Carlisle's this season, you just can't beat that old grandstand. Didn't go this season but from experience I also love Cheltenham's and it'll be a sad loss to the league. Hartlepool as well for the way the away end stoops down on the goal and the number of great pubs nearby.

Worst Oppositon Ground?
Oxford, I hate going there and any identi-kit grounds. Northampton obviously because we can never beat them.

Best Opposition Goal?
Shrewsbury's winner against us (Mangan?), was pretty special.

Steve has his limitations, but he's kept 15 clean sheets this season. Bit unfair. Especially as both games v Hartlepool resulted in Luton victories.

Victoria Road / Victoria Park - I need to go back to bed!

For what its worth, Macca's performance that night versus Dagenham was absolutely horrific. 4 times he was found wanting v Cureton.
