Our best young players are:
Lloyd Kelly, as mentioned above.
Freddie Hinds, an 18 year old striker who scored a screamer against Watford in the League Cup.
Taylor Moore, a 20 year old cental defender who I think did quite well on loan at Bury (at least I think it was Bury) last season
Max O'Leary, a 20 year old goalkeeper who saves penalties for fun. Was on loan at the mighty Bath City last year.

Yeah, Moore was at Bury, but often played out of position. Is/was captain of one of the England youth teams.

Another one to add to that list is Tin Plavotic. Few people who see our youth teams fairly regularly have said they think he could push for a place in the senior team in the next 18 months (I'm guessing they mean as part of the squad, rather than displacing Baker or Wright).
And now is at Cheltenham.
Yep, along with Hinds and Morrell.
A League 1 side would have been preferred, but if Chelteham can promise regular game time in his correct position then it's better than a CB being made to play as a RWB.
Equally, being at a relatively local side means he can still train with us at times (and of course there is the family link between the 2 managers).

If you think that turnaround is bad, any Reading fan would have told you Aaron Kuhl would be the one of the best young players in this league a few years ago.

At 17/18 years old, captained our U21s to win the U21 Premier League Cup, started making first team appearances under Adkins and we rejected a £2m bid from Man City. Three years on he's been released after failing on loan at Boreham Wood last season, and has had trials this Summer at Bracknell Town, Aldershot and Stjarnan.

No major injuries either..

Bollock face knows...
Harry Redknapp said: "Preston are a very good team, I think Preston have some fantastic young players.

"They have a young left-back, 18-years-old, who Preston are going to do very well to hang on to in the next couple of years. "He was different class."

Donovan Wilson (20). Only one appearance so far but superb performance against Saints in the Crappyboo cup last month.
Conor Ronan (19) Ex-Rochdale academy, strong attacking midfielder.
Bright Enobakhare (19) Nigerian striker, has appeared in most of our Championship games. Is close to being our "missing" striker this season.
Diogo Jota (20). Four goals in last three games. On loan from Atletico Madrid, so technically not ours. But not yours either.
Ruben Neves (20). Defensive midfielder. Probably wont be ours next season, but he is right now.
Ruben Vinagre (18). Spectacularly fast left wing-back. Again, great things ahead fairly soon.
Sylvain Deslandes (20). Ex-Caen full-back. Just breaking into the first team.
Four of those seven currently in the current starting eleven; two more on the bench most matches now. Not sure we can really take much credit for the development of many of them, but very glad they're on our side not against us.

Not our player but Jonathan Leko looks ridiculously good. Got him for the season, and looks like he's going to be a big player for us this season. Only 18.

Aiden O'Brien, George Saville and Jed Wallace, all under 24, have been extremely influential in our excellent start to the season (performance-wise).

Excellent start is a bit excessive, you're 16th. 2 of those 3 players mentioned have already been deemed a failure at another Championship club.

In our game performance wise you just stuck 11 men behind the ball, if it wasn't for your goalkeepers heroics it could have been 4 or 5.

I agree. I think the low league position doesn't reflect the quality of your football. You are clearly getting the best out of Wallace and I am sure he will go on to play in the PL. Saville not so sure about.

Saville wasn't great at City, never looked good enough for the Championship. Didn't see many fans with kits with his name on the back...

That was the reason we sold him on. I was praying we weren't going to sign anyone called Harris.

We were expecting Saville to be the new Zeli Ismail, tbh.

George Saville is reaĺly nothing special. He isn't a player of much talent so to speak, just relies on his hard work and as Mick McCarthy would say, the sort of player who 'puts a shift in'. His career will be dipping between lower Championship and upper League 1 level.

Who is this SaMcRo? Strange little man

Not sure what either will do from this point on, tbh, but have been surprised at how the ex-wolves boys have adapted to the system at least. Seems fairly remiss to talk to in certainties about the ability of ex-players, though, given the surplus quality in the game because of tv money/massive investment. The underlying reasons for poor performance are more than ever now to do with lack of confidence rather than lack of ability.

Thank you for telling me about a player I have seen play for my team (and other teams) several times with my own eyes.

Trouble is that ongoing under-performing begets more shit results. A few years ago we plummeted into L1 with a PL-quality team who had zero confidence. Early on in the season I watched us lose at home to Forest and was convinced that day we were going to go down. The quality was there but the confidence didn't allow any flair or sparkle. That's what wins games. A moment's brilliance. Wallace can provide that, and I admit I wish we still had him.

It seems unlikely you will ever miss Wallace, even if he does go on to become a good Premier League player, but I think the changing economy of the football league is, as I said before, creating a surplus of talent. This is, for us po' folk, a pool of excellent, young cheap players who until fairly recently would have developed into excellent, expensive players for the clubs who brought them through the youth ranks. So, the chasm isn't as big as it should be. In fact, it is roughly the same, perhaps even very slightly narrower in some respects. Perhaps the economy evening itself out and correcting itself to some degree.

Liam Kelly.

No idea how he has not made the final cut for the past couple of Republic of Irelands squads. We will be lucky to have him beyond next season. Great to see another academy player do so well.

Crazy to think that this time last season he hadn't played for us, and had just finished 5 months on loan at Bath City. Now he's arguably our key player.

1)Need to be in or around your first team.... In It

2)No one over 20 years of age...20

3)Reasons why you think they could play at a higher level... TRUST from 4 different Managers at 2 Clubs..an ever-present until Harry R. and his assistant Kevin Bond crippled half the first teams forwards with hamstrings in 2 weeks of training. Left with one forward, and after his recuperation went straight back into consideration from his NEW 4th Manager.

4)Have they been linked to anyone higher up in the league's?.... Permanently.
Rumour/Paper-Wise....Derby / Vile :ffs: / Boro / Leeds etc...after his upgraded contract he is still linked to Palace / Liverpool / Everton..... they have their recognisable scouts watching him...but that's enough for stringer journos I suspect :bg1:
