As for the game...
Decent game but a poor quality affair.
Not sure how Crewe we’re by far the better side but there you go! And anyone unfortunate to listen to praise and grumble knows Artell is full of shit.
Boots error was dreadful and gifted Crewe the perfect start... wasn’t even a difficult take to catch that and was as bad an error as you’ll see. We lost our heads after that for a period and Crewe dominated although didn’t really create anything nor force a save in that half hour period. Boot dropped another which we got away with and hobbled off. Don’t care if he was injured or not he had to come off his head had completely gone. He’s young and will learn but it’s a position we need to sort out.
Got the penalty and well finished by Pope, Crewe’s fragility then came to the fore as we had a decent 10 minute spell nearly scoring again before they forced Hornby into his first stop with a tame shot at one on one.
Second half was more huff and puff, we probed a bit as did they but neither side created anything until Kay’s bit of magic... absolutely belter.
After that we were fairly comfortable seeing it out until Pope went off two minutes from time. Barnett just doesn’t hold it and Forrester would have been a better option and that saw us pegged back finally and a great save from a scramble after a corner and we seemed to be off the hook.
Then the issue with Vale away from home arose... how on earth in the 93rd minute have we allowed ourselves to get caught short at the back! Poor game management to be caught out there.
Then the referee blew time after a cowardly shove on Whitfield, pointless and should of been deemed dangerous play barging him after the ball goes out over the hoardings into the concrete. Caused some friction, Ben seemed very unhappy with the steward too.
Overall fair point, annoying not to get the win we should of but had you offered me four points over Easter I’d have taken them. Almost safe if not already.
Few weird calls on P&G too.
