Blackpool FC is not dying, merely sinking to it's natural level

Anyone seen the photos of the "Tangerine Knights" wearing anonymous masks, stood outside the gates to one of Oystons properties?

Great post on Pne-online, illustrating just why nobody has any sympathy for the spoilt, dummy spitting, mard fuckers.

-- Apologies in advance for such a long winded post but I was recently flicking through that forum of there's when I came across this comment:

"Sorry to say Lee, but not only is your Chairman full of shit, you are full of it too, the problems started in the Premiership under Holloway with lack of investment that would of kept us there, then came the Ince Farce, the Ferguson Farce, the Riga Farce and now you, this family have no intention of investing in any quality players whatsoever, whatever bullshit you are being told is just that, BULLSHIT."

Initially it got me thinking that this guy has alluded Michael Appleton from that list to which I thought to myself, was Appleton at the time not a very good appointment after he did a decent enough job at Portsmouth under the circumstances?

Then that got me thinking of some of the players that have been through the door at Gloomfield over the years, to name a few:

Matt Phillips - An up and coming, highly rated winger signed from Wycombe in a £350,000 deal, potentially rising to £700,000.

Tom Ince - Signed for an undisclosed fee but none the less this was a player who was highly rated despite not having cut it at the top level with Liverpool.

Neal Eardley - Highly rated at Oldham and had a number of Championship clubs looking at him, eventually signed for £350,000.

Charlie Adam - Wasn't up to much at Rangers but after an impressive loan stint at the Lashers a few other clubs showed an interest in him and was eventually signed permanently for £500,000.

Hameur Bouazza - Unsure of the fee but before signing for Blackpool, his last English club was Fulham and was fairly impressive in the Premier League. Would definitely have demanded huge wages.

Jay Emmanuel-Thomas - On loan from Arsenal at a time when it looked he could have gone on to become a potential Premier League player. Even now is a top player at high flying Bristol City.

Barry Bannan - Similar situation to JET only Bannan was on loan from Villa and then went on to become a regular in the first team upon his recall to Villa Park.

DJ Campbell - After impressing on loan and helping to achieve promotion, DJ was signed the following season for a fee of £1,750,000.

The list actually goes on but I won't bring up every single player. The fact is that Blackpool fans have this sense that the Oystons have never invested in the club and that is the reason for their discontent.

As you can see from the players listed, big money has been spent on players bringing them to the seaside. Even before the Premier League days, money was spent on up and coming players such as Neal Eardley and Charlie Adam at a time when they were Championship relegation favourites.

Even after their season in the sun, money was spent yet again to try and take them back at the first attempt and had it not been for a Ricardo Vaz Te strike late in the game at Wembley then they may just have achieved that.

So I ask the question, why are the Lashers acting like such slapped arses? Yes, the football has been terrible. Yes, they have made some god awful signings. Yes, the stewardship of Ince, Ferguson, Riga and Clark has been abysmal. But they're not the first team to get relegated and fall under poor management.

All I see and hear about is the "legacy" of the Premier League days. How it is such a crying shame that they look to fall back into the lower leagues, never to be grace the top flight again. But that's football. Teams have dined at the top table before and find themselves down in the depths. That is just how it goes.

We even felt this ourselves, after pushing and pushing, knocking on the door for Premier League football under Moyes, Davies and even early doors Irvine, we soon found ourselves at the foot of the table under Ferguson and then Brown.

Were we devastated? Yes. Was it a tragedy? Yes, in our eyes at least. But was it unfair, unjust and a crime? No. Did we receive sympathy from the Lashers and beg national attention? Not at all. We signed poor players, put in charge poor managers and were pretty much ran from top to bottom shoddily. BUT THAT IS FOOTBALL. It happens.

I have zero sympathy for that lot with the tower. Putting aside the "Countdown Conundrum Prank" or even the "Plane Over Deepdale Prank", I genuinely have no sympathy at all for what I can only describe as the biggest bunch of slapped arses that I have ever seen. In fact I’d even go so far as to say that I can put aside the M55 Derby for a good few years and watch them wallow in League 2 whilst Fleetwood become the pride of the Fylde. --

Fuck you, Lashers.

Two fans at my workplace have taught me to treat two fickle football clubs in particular with a lot of discontent. Those clubs being Shrewsbury and Blackpool.

And you know, whoever has posted that on PNE online is right. Might I add two further points:

1. The Oystons saved Blackpool from bankruptcy by purchasing the club for a pound I believe, invested heavily in the club and its facilities (Anyone remember how shocking Bloomfield Road used to look before 2003?) to take them to where they are today and then obviously when they got to the Premier League the Oystons took out a return on their investment (What is it with fans who seem to think owners shouldn't be allowed to take money they put into the club to improve it back out again?)

2. The amount of gloryhunting shithouses like that lad at my work that pop up at Premier League clubs when a Football League club does good make me laugh. Stoke wanted Pulis out for not making £10 million signings when they first went up. Blackpool 'fans', boosted by an extra 6-7000 gloryhunters whose voices were probably the loudest wanted colossal and ultimately unsustainable investment that could've contributed to near financial disaster. They claimed to be going down with £90 million in the bank yet they failed to realise that they don't get that money in one huge lump sum. And as the poster says, they invested heavily in good players that made the club competitive and won the hearts of the neutrals for their great style of play.

I'd love a chairman that invests in my club to the extent that it reaches the Premier League, a chairman that hands out sub £200 adult season tickets and free away travel to a local away game when the club needed their support the most too.

NB: Stoke's chairman pocketed a couple of million when they were promoted to the Premier League too as a return on his investment, but you don't hear them wanting him removed from the club and they're a bunch of fickle unappreciative delusional barstools themselves. I'm sure other clubs have done the same too upon promotion, I'm sure Burnley and Hull probably have. So why should Blackpool complain?

Rotherham's record low of 29 points could well be beaten here.

At least they'll be remembered for something.

Since three points for a win I think Cambridge got lower than 29 when they were relegated from this division in the 80s. Think they went down with you lot too!

I'm sure Stockport were relegated on a horrendously low points total, in the early 00's?

Stockport got 26 in 01/02. Rotherham and Wimbledon got 29 in 04/05 and 03/04 respectively. 04/05 was the first year it was called the Championship so I suppose Rammy was half right.

Yeah, I was only referring to the Championship era, as people tend to do with this record.

True but they arent in a much better position - 2nd bottom in the North West Counties League

:conf: I love how second from bottom of the North West Counties League is still considered "better" (albeit not "much better") than bottom of the Championship. Oh, how the mediocre have fallen.

I agree with the sentiments in their statement about the Football League. I am increasingly astonished how we allow our love of rather pedestrian football and really fucking awful lager in plastic cups override our natural instincts not to be fleeced by shady characters in cashmere coats.

There are some clubs that are bucking the trend....I was impressed by Brighton subsiding all local public transport to the ground, for example. But more clubs are fucking it than bucking it.
