We seem to have a good record against MK in recent years, so expect the win at the weekend to instil confidence back into the lads.

McMahon - Vincelot - NKP - Meredith

Cullen - Vincelot - Law

Jones - Clarke - Wyke

2-0 City

Going to be tough to come away with anything.

I have a hunch we'll go 3-5-2 for this one.

Martin
Downing Walsh Lewington
Baldock Potter Upson Aneke Williams
Maynard Agard

Still won't work, mind. The pudding of a pitch usually does for us up there. We go a lot more direct under RN so that may be slightly less of an issue, but I still can't see much of an improvement n term of the result.

2-0 Bantams

We play like Brazil on it, no excuses.

Is there any reason for it? After all, there's no rugby played on it, you're a reasonably well-funded club who can afford to keep it in decent condition.

I'm sometimes suspicious with pitches that remain in a poor state over the years that it's deliberate and on the managers orders, but you don't really fit the bill for that. I'm guessing it's like VP is on a former clay pit and the high stands mean a lack of any sunlight?

I think it has something to do with the drainage underneath the pitch. They previous owners spent money trying to rectify it but I heard something this season saying the work that was done didnt work properly.

Its a shame as the football being played this season deserves a nice pitch, whereas when we played under Parky we may aswell have been playing on blackpool beach.

There's something like an old stand under the pitch from years ago that really doesn't help (I'm not sure if it's there for some sort of structural support because of slope), that plus the current main stand blocks the best part of the sun for a lot of the day but saying that we repeat the same reseeding process every year then get shocked when it tears to pieces half way through.

Normally a home banker in recent years but that was under Robinson, can see us reverting back to our usual draw for this one, 0-0

The land the stadium is on was formerly a quarry and as LS says there's the remnants
of an old stand under there as well.

The problem is therefore drainage plus lack of sunlight - we now have the 'growing lamps' to try and
sort the latter but to permanently resolve the former will take a lot more money than we've been able to spend previously (if indeed it can be fully resolved).

The hope has to be that with the new owners they see fit to spend the money required on one of the 'hybrid' Desso pitches. For now, it will remain a bit of a ploughed field.

As the below have said I think it is mainly drainage issue, though I'm not an expert on it. As i say last season it seemed to hold up better (still not great but better) although it has been milder this season, so it just seems pot luck.

It is certainly not under McCall's orders either he doesn't seem happy with it and has not been happy with several other pitches this season, under Parkinson the pitch was far less of a talking point because the ball spent most of the time in the air.

Hopefully it will start to get rectified in the close season because it is embarrassing, still no Bloomfield road though.

The season of the cup run when the pitch got laughably bad, we ended up having a similar away record to home record so it didn't even help us.

The pitch looked alright against Chesterfield, 180 minutes played on it and then it looked like a potato field against Bolton. The weather hasn't even been that bad? It's something that needs sorting out.

For some stupid reason Agard and Aneke have been dropped to the bench, so there's no hope of a win tonight.

That second MKD's goal was the flukiest I've ever seen anyone score here. Four goals in one of the worst games you can imagine, deflection for the first, equaliser a pen, fluke third, corner for the fourth

Deadman is a clown - official.

The TV feed commentator said that as MK didn't protest too much it must have been a penalty although he couldn't see the foul. Totally ignored the fact that Bradford didn't appeal for the penalty either. Maybe because everyone was mystified? A Deadman special.

It might have been a fluke (nah - he meant it - honest) but what on earth was the goalkeeper doing. Waving or drowning?

What's City appealing for it got to do with the validity of the pen? It was shirt pulling. Pen.

It was a one in a million fluke miss hit cross that's lobbed a 6'7" or so keeper and come off both posts to go in, in real time I can't blame Doyle too much. Deadman the ref, Christ, MK not happy about the pen and we're not happy about literally everything else he did all night, from the constant pulling, the time wasting, kicking the ball away, that Tom Daily-esk dive at the end of the first half, not to be topped off by just three minutes of added time after six subs, Aneke's lengthy injury and whatever else.
Not blaming the ref though for the result, draw number seventeen tonight, another game we've not won at home, another game we've conceded, a game we've not tested the keeper enough for all the ball we had and just the same usual feeling of frustration this season keeps bringing. We're just so slow and predictable in our build up we don't do ourselves in favours - Nicky Law is supposed to run things but everything is painfully safe, sideways, where's Meredith so I can pass to him? Could do with a shake up on Saturday, hopefully Marshall is fit.
Credit MK tonight, looked dangerous on the counter and made things difficult for us, not as pretty as previous years but got the point they were looking for.

Probably the worst game I've seen all season, we were awful, MK were awful, Deadman was unbelievably awful. The goals were all shit defending or total flukes, and the pitch was atrocious. Plus nearly got run over after the game by a local.

One plus was Gilliead, looked great.

Yep. Every time we've had Deadman there's always been a decision that he's the only one in the ground that saw it.

I remember his first season about ten years ago, it tells you something that he's never gone above this level despite having age on his side.

As for the game, I was one of about 250 or so that watched the beam back at ours. Thought we probably had the better chances first half but for twenty minutes or so of the seconds we were second best, before looking dangerous once we bought Chuks and Agard on and probably the more likely . Happy with a point, all things considered.
