No Aguero? But Coutinho is nominated? Aguero has pretty much single handedly kept us in the top 4 at times this season, specifically around October - November time. Coutinho has had a good season & I rate him really highly, but he shouldn't be in that shortlist.

Whilst you can't go just on stats alone, Di Maria is considered a flop and Coutinho is considered player of the year elect? If Coutinho has been so good you'd think his stats would represent that wouldn't you?

Everyone has been right to slag of Di Maria, he's been poor. The question is would you rather have someone that aesthetically looks shit but produces according to the numbers, or someone that does a lot of flicks and scoops that come off but has a worse end product?

Half of Di Maria's numbers are mishit shots as well.

Really? I haven't seen very much of Liverpool at all this season, but earlier on there seemed a lot of hate for Mignolet, and to be fair when I did see him at Turf Moor, he looked shaky at best.

Has he turned it around now? Would you be happy with him as number 1 for next season?

Coutinho was largely shit until January though. And I don't think his perofrmances since have warranted him being seen as better than Raheem. I think Raheem gets judged far more harshly, which says a lot about how good he is & how important he's become for us at 20.

We expect Raheem to produce, we're still pleased when Phil does, that's the key difference imo.

He's been superb since he came back into the team really, it was kinda understandable when he replaced Jones against Burnley but ever since he's almost universally been excellent, and will now likely end up with the Golden Gloves award. The defensive switch helped us become more solid, but the increased confidence he inspired in the defence has really helped.

I'm far more comfortable with him being #1 next season now, yeah. Originally I wanted him replaced and that's that but, despite still having the same weaknesses in his distribution etc., the rest of his game has turned round so much that it's basically no issue. at all. Get in a #2 who'll challenge, and is stronger in the areas the Belgian pear isn't, should be the way to go. Mathew Ryan seems to be the one. Anyone but Brad Jones.

Coutinho was probably only nominated because of some of the belters he scored in the second half of the season and his tricks and skills. He's been good but I agree he doesn't deserve to be nominated compared to the likes of Hazard, Sanchez and Kane who actually made most of it count.
