The rules seem whimsical. These Old Etonians and Engineers reminded me they had won more trophies than most clubs. Is it time to lose your brotherhood status if you stay outside the league for more than 5 years and have gates below three thousand on average?

Can I just point out that officially, it's 1987.

If you were in the league in 1987, then you are part of "the great 92" and as you correctly point out, you will be for ever.

Just the same as the likes of Crawley, Forest Green, Fleetwood can never be part of it. They will always be tinpot, for ever.

You're wrong about the date for this reason- Scarborough were in the FL in 1987, as the first beneficiaries of automatic promotion and have no place among the Brotherhood. The rest of your post is spot on.
