Placed on gardening leave till an agreement is reached.

Also gone is Bob Shaw(Chief Scout) and Graham Coughlan(assistant manager)

Thanks for the promotion Phil but this season has been a disgrace.

The journalist who broke the Leonard to Blades story is saying the Cowley’s are in the frame. God please that be true. Imagine it will cost a lot

Essex bods aren't they? That might appeal to them, believe Dan Cowley used to teach my mate PE around Southend/Leigh-on-sea.

They are on a good thing with Lincoln at the moment and they strike me as the sort that would like to see it through.

That said, moving back local with a pay rise and chance to manage at a level higher might swing it.

With this weather he won’t get much useful gardening done. Which will be the next club he will go to?

That would be a major backwards move for them and that's coming from a Bury fan.

How come every manager gets sacked and Brown always goes on gardening leave? or is it just an orange thing?

Gardening leave whilst they agree on a severance package

Local rag reckons they are reliably informed it's Powell.

Be good to see the great man back in management.

Rumours that Dean Austin is going to come in as Powell's assistant, be surprised if he was to leave Northampton and would imagine that would be more bad news for Jack Bridge as Austin is definitely the only reason they ever signed him.

Chris Powell confirmed on a 2.5 year deal. Happy with this.

Cowley was never a realistic target for Southend at this point anyway.

Agree, it’s all about timing and at this point it would take something more attractive for him to leave Lincoln.
If and when he thinks he’s taken Lincoln as far as he can then he’ll look at other options.

In the circumstance (Southend being just off the relegation zone) Chris Powell is a decent appointment.
He also comes across really well with dignity in the media, so I’m pleased for him and Sothend are a good club for him to rebuild his reputation.

When was his reputation ever damaged?

He shat all over this division last time he was in it when hardly spending a thing and followed it up with a 9th place finish in the Championship.

Didn’t quite work out for him at Huddersfield but was hardly a disaster.

He’s played in this division, managed in this division, won promotion from this division and hasn’t cost anything. All things considered I’d say he’s a better option for Southend than the Cowleys.
