Big test for us against one of the fancied sides.
Our forum seem to think we are playing Man City, talk about giving too much respect.
I quite fancy us here , Plymouth have had one or two unexpected home blips and got a beating at Northampton.
So far we have been very good at home which is an oddity in itself. Read that Byron Moore has been playing as a striker for them. A frustrating player at Vale albeit in a higher league.
One good game and 7 garbage was his usual fare. Yet always Crewes' best player when we played them. I'll go for a 2-1 Vale win and maybe 5700 crowd with over 1000 superbly travelling from Plymouth.

Our fans build up Morecambe to be Milan to be fair.

Tough tough game but winnable, oddly have been bookies favourites to win this with sky bet!

They’ve had a slowish start and hit a rougher patch lately, hopefully we can produce it tomorrow after a harsh defeat last week.

Some horrific games in the next seven days so a win would be a welcome start.

Sneaky 2-1 Valiants win in one of those games where we actually turn up and perform. Amooooooo and Bennett.

Haven't got a clue what the scores going be. I'm terrible at predicting anyway it's just good see a decent away following for once.

1000 or so is superb considering the distance and on the back of a relegation and average start.

More than some clubs 15-20 miles away will bring.

Shocked this wasn’t moved to tonight to be honest, it’s only the last year or so that Vale and Stoke have been allowed to play at home at the same time... add that in to likely two big followings on the same train up! That train from Bristol onwards could be spicey!

On paper its another tough game in a tough month, with Newport last week, and Exeter and Mansfield after this. I think we have enough to get something from this, and hopefully Oyeleke will be back. We are much stronger with him in midfield. I'll be positive and go for a 2-1 with goals from Bennett and Worrall for us.

After seeing our midfield , this will go one of two ways. We’ll dominate the game and win or you’ll come out and over run us.

We miss our key enforcer Oyeleke still so won’t dominate the midfield, generally we play against the better sides in the league who don’t park the bus with a high press.

Might suit us this type of game and see an FGR type level performance compared to playing against sides like Newport or Cambridge who generally sat deep and are hard to break down...

Be a tough game for us, you seem to have conceded a few so may be chances for us to get a couple but it’s probably going to be won and lost on how well our back four cope.

Our bench is excellent. George Cooper shouldn’t be sat on a bench in L2. We need 3 points today!

So do we! We’ve had Newport A, you at H, Exeter A Tuesday and then Mansfield H next Saturday.

Literally the toughest run of four games you could ask for.... get through them relatively intact and we have a great run until Xmas!

(Probably get nine points this week then be winless until Xmas now I’ve said that!)

Our bench is better than last year at least, our top scorer for most of the last decade is on it and Cullen should be class at this level, problem is aside from striker options we lack much depth elsewhere.

That said just having a stable club for once after the past few years and the price we’ve had to pay financially to avoid being the next Bury we can be patient.

Smart decision from Vale with Oyeleke in the long term I feel. No point gambling with his fitness until we are certain he is 100%.

Think Plymouth are rightly favourites for this but we've been competitive in all our games bar Grimsby in the second half. One area I would like Askey to be a bit more proactive in is his use of the subs bench. Always seems reluctant to do it unless the opposition have just scored or when its very late in the game.

Three players going off injured in the first half for us. Regardless of anything else that is concerning especially with one of them being Amoo.

Will settle for a point now after the injuries. Not a lot in the game, might take one quality move to win it.

Going to be a minor miracle to win this with no options to change it. Losing Amoo is a huge blow although we’ve looked less poor defensively down our right hand side since he went off and has probably seen us get more of a foothold since.

Sad thing is it’s crying out for Pope this, he buries that header Bennett sent over the bar most times!

Browne making his debut after coming on looks good, highlight of the game was his spin taking out three Argyle lads forcing Mayor to take him out.

Neither keeper really tested yet.

Second half has opened up a bit but the first was very boring.

The kits are so similar. Plymouth should surely be in their away kit.

Best result of the season so far. Well done Vale.

Developing quite a nice little record at home now.

Superb win and should of been a larger margin with two or three great chances to kill it after the goal.

Browne was outstanding! Losing Amoo won’t be as big of a blow if he plays like that!

Huge huge win and if we can beat one of Exeter or Mansfield this week il start to believe we might actually surprise people this season.

Another poor result. Maybe time to go back to basics and stop playing this 3 at the back for a while, and get some points!

Deserved it in the second half I thought.

Our defensive solidity nullified their forward play today and we actually look solid at the back.

We actually look capable of grinding out 1-0 wins at home which is something we’ve not done for a good while!

Sat nicely in 10th place in the table and a couple of quality wins against FGR and Plymouth. Would definitely have taken this if offered at the start.

Excellent gritty performance.
Second half we were really on the front foot.
Danny Show Pony had one of his days why you realise he's still in league two. But we did rough him up early on.
Thought Plymouth were a big disappointment though I'd imagine they will be up there.
To lose 3 players within 33 minutes and play that well in the 2nd half was a good sign.
Do well to get a team out now at Exeter as Worrall only stayed on for nuisance value , limping around for 10 minutes.
Overall very pleasing but costly injuries

after an edgy first half, we came out fighting and deserved the win. Legge deservedly man of the match, but I was really impressed with Taylor after he came on. Looks like 2 of the injuries were hamstrings, so a chance for Browne and one or two others to stake their place. Oyeleke wasn't risked today so he should be back for Exeter or Mansfield.

Our home form is much improved so far, and we look a different team than last year.

It’s very frustrating. We control games, but aren’t gritty enough. Lots of players who are good on the ball and move it well, but ultimately it’s just not happening at the moment.

Defensively we switch off and let the opposition score and aren’t doing enough to score at the other end. We need a plan B as well.

Although apparently Bury were 11th last season in November, maybe it just hasn’t clicked. But it needs to, and soon.

Fair play Port Vale and good luck for the rest of the season, apart from at our place of course.

Great game that, Plymouth looked really good first half, the way they moved the ball from defence to attack was fluent. Having said that they didn’t create many chances , and second half we had a real go and were deserved winners.
Our back four were immense today.
Considering there was only just over 5000 there it was a good atmosphere aswell.

They looked decent on the ball but although they had 14 shots most were outside the area and blazer over. Brown barely had a save and the only real dangerous effort was the headed hooked off the line.

We battled like trojans weathered a couple of patches of pressure and once we scored we had them where we wanted and it allowed us to break and should of killed it really, no idea what Monty was doing with that shot when he just had to slot it away and end the contest.

Assume Plymouth will grow as they gel. We beat Bury at home last year and seemed similar but less effective up front... huge changes though for them so may take time.

Good support too.

As for the kit clash, wasn’t too bad in real life as it was mainly Green but no idea why they didn’t wear their standard green home one.

Has Amoo done a hamstring or groin injury by any chance?

looks like a hamstring. He got pulled over by a defender that he went past, and as soon as he hit the ground he went to his hamstring. I wasn't surprised to see him subbed straight after.

Seemed to change the game though, Argyle targeted our right side but once he went off you had Woz then Browne there and have more cover to Gibbo (who was excellent again up against Mayor, and on a booking early on!)

several really good performances today, Legge, Smith, Taylor, and Gibbo who I was certain would get a red card after his early yellow. Browne looks a more than capable replacement for Oyeleke or Amoo.
