No doubt it is a brilliant facility for a League 2 club to obtain, but a five year lease? How can you afford this and are you not slightly worried?

Not really. This is superb news for the club and will benefit our Youth and ability to attract players.

We now own the best training facility in the league along side Burton (although they don't specifically own theirs)

There is no doubting that having good facilities will help, but Carrington is HUGE. It's going to cost a lot to staff that, never mind any contributions to up keeping expenses. I genuinely hope it works out for the best, as lower league teams with facilities such as these may persuade the FA to ditch the 'B' team idea, but I feel it is slightly naïve to not be at least a little concerned where the money is coming from to run it.

Weren't Bury pleading poverty a couple of months ago? What's changed? More 138% interest loans?

They'll finance it by achieving promotion to the premiership and then winning the treble on top of the double promotion that's needed to pay there first 138% loan off.

Shit or bust if you ask me. Bury never learn.

Mansfield, the team that can't even get their own training ground due to the local council..

Jealously if you ask me..

The deal is for 5 years, we're only leasing it and City will still be paying to maintain it. Presume the staff that are already working there will be kept on.

Obviously no idea how much we're paying a year for it but considering its a one off payment for quality facilities it looks a fantastic deal.

Looks good, we were meant to be getting State of the art training facilities about 4 years ago, that's still not taken off but one day Radford might keep to his word for a change and build one. Yeah right..

I don't know the strength of Bury's finances but I'm sure things like these aren't done without due diligence. Good luck to them I say.

No, Carrington is where Manchester United's training centre is. Both clubs had facilities in the area.

City also had training facilities at Platt Fields Park in Fallowfield but now they've built Sportcity at Eastlands to house everything they've sold them off. Platt Fields was sold to Manchester Metropolitan University a few months ago (and had been run in conjuction for some while already).

ManU must be concerned then to hear the news that Bury are going to be muscling in on their patch. Just what they don't need at the moment is for the likes of De Gea and Di Maria to start seeing Bury players driving around Carrington in their shiny new Kia Ce'eds and Seat Leons, showing off all their Lacoste gear and dining in style at the local Nando's. It'll give them ideas above their station they'll be onto their agents to try and get them better deals or they'll be off to Bury. Then what about the kids in the area, how can a club like ManU expect to attract new fans when you have global mega-stars like Chris Hussey swanning about the place signing autographs? It's a sad indictment of football today that moneybags sides like Bury can just go where they like they not giving a toss about the traditional clubs like Manchester United who don't have their resources and just get trampled into the dirt.

Potentially a fantastic move this.

Lower Gigg is frankly full of dog shit, Goshen is not much better for the first team so to get a complex like this on a lease is to put it simply unheard of. This facility is only 14 years old and up until a few months ago was good enough for one of the best teams in Europe.

The club want the youth system to become a proper academy and this will help attract better players. It's not ours technically but we must have some of the best facilities outside the premier league. Worry is how much, but (big but) if we sell one kid for enough it might cover the lease agreement in full. Have to see.

Thank you Vanni!

Nice to get the good wishes of a fellow lower league football fan who is obviously viewing this piece of news without the green tinted spectacles some seem to be wearing!!

Not you Shoddy by the way! That's very funny!

They've just done a tour round it on SSN, can't be any training facilities that impressive outside of the Premier League. A huge gym, hydrotherapy pools, physio suite, several changing rooms and pitches, and they didn't even get round to viewing the upstairs. However, regardless of however good a deal they're getting on the lease, surely the maintenance costs for such are large facility are unsustainable for a team the size of Bury? The benefits of having it are obvious but it'll be counterproductive if the running costs start taking money away from the playing budget.

We're not paying any maintenance costs as far as I'm aware. Maybe if we want to change any of the branding - colours/ logo etc?

I do think we have to take some furniture tho.

Thought you might like it since I'm sure you have to deal with your fair share of big clubs muscling in on your patch.

Great news for Bury, wish we had the opportunity to do something like this, mind. We've been training over local parks throughout the winter as our training ground continues to be pretty much a shambles (Waterlogged this time I think, not the previous fox holes that blighted us). We've asked to use one of West Ham's facilities that is solely used by the academy, but had that turned down as well. I used to go past there quite a lot when at home, and it's chronically underused which is such a disappointment when we really could do with somewhere decent to train.

To have a chance to be able to do this is pretty impressive, when you think bigger clubs in the area like Oldham and rochdale could have looked at it (or maybe they already have decent facilities) is a good coup.

Any opposition fan of a league 2 club would be jealous, course they would be.

I do hope this is being done sustainably, however.

Nice try... Maybe one day we'll get a tour around Mansfields training ground.. Oh wait!

Anyway.. Rumour has it Man City are maintaining it, and one poster on our messageboard seems to think we've got it free... With the thinking that City don't need the money, but the facility could be used by someone else... A donation of sort

Still making something out of nothing i see, He was just stating a simple fact that Oldham and Rochdale are of a bigger stature than Bury at this current time.

Debatable considering Rochdale get lower crowds than us despite being at the peak of their history and a league above.. 1,700 home fans they had on Tuesday against Sheff U

Oh for gods sake.

I was stating something obvious, like how rochdale and Oldham are league above like Chesterfield and notts county are above us.

Are you genuinely that few on brain cells?

No you were waiting for a bite and yours truly above bit.

Anyway, you're right about the jealousy bit. I think if what's been mentioned in a press conference occurs over the next few years it will see a massive shift in how the club operates as a business. Only time will tell. In the meantime I'm looking forward to having a nosy around one of the best training facilities in the country, which is ours (sort of).

Not really, just said poster isn't the smartest. Sometimes you need to break things down into more simple forms so it can be understood.

I think youve a genuinely excellent chance of improving things with those facilities, something to bargain with when courting new players.

No fishing here, but genuine question. Do we know who the money men behind Bury are yet? Also how are you getting round FFP, I look at your squad and I just see ££.
