Surprised there hasn’t been a thread for this already.

Local derby and big game for us. Oldham have gone off the boil in the last week but are still a handy side as we saw in the reverse fixture.

Will we finally turn up in a derby? Almost a decade since we beat any of Bolton, Rochdale or Oldham at home.

I’m cautiously optimistic, it’s not an easy game but I would say we have the better players.

I’ll go 3-2 win with a 7,000+ crowd.

Still not sure why they’re as low as they are in the table, some of their loan players are decent, and Peter Clarke is a beast. Hopefully we finally turn up in a derby and play our own game.

4,103 Oldhamers locked out at least.
Oldham fans showing the offspring the things they used to have in their town.
A market, shops that are not boarded up and most amazing of all .... pubs!
This will be the last time we meet for a long time as Oldham start the task of renaming the Rochdale division.
I sadly will miss the occasion due to a prior engagement but I'll be cheering on the Shaggers from afar.

A tough one to call bury flying high and playing nice football but they do give a few chances to the opposition and we do have a bit of an Indian sign. Over them so could go either way but I would take a draw now if you offered it if bury score first they will win but I’m going for a 2-2 draw

So have Oldham now officially been rebranded as ‘Paul Scholes Oldham’ in the same way as Bruce’s Price is Right and Dale’s Supermarket Sweep?

3 changes from Tuesday's blancmange of a performance. Looks strong and attacking. January loan signing Afolayan fit for his first bench appearance. Striker from West Ham.

Well done bury look like a team that’s going up thought we shaded the first half but 2ndhalf was one way traffic comedy oferrors for the last goal but bury deserved that win. Got the best player in the league that I have seen this season the number 11 Rossiter outstanding display from him well supported by O’Shea and Adams Mayor didn’t turn up again as for us another season beckons in league two. Greater manchester police again heavy handed tactics with latics fans saw them pushing pensioners back who were trying to leave and dads with little children also getting jostled but did nothing about the coins being thrown into the Oldham end by the knobs in the main stand corner

Oldham fans are little darlings aren’t they? It’s never their fault.

I’m not of the opinion that our fans are angels we got plenty of knob heads but the corner of the main stand closest to the west stand Started throwing the coins and don’t get me started on GMP heavy handed tossers

The amount of shite I have seen and heard from Biffo fans down the years and now one is complaining about our fans, I wouldn't mind but I saw Oldham fans causing aggro before, during and then after the game.

As for the game we were the better side throughout, two sitters missed in the first half and another in the second. I was starting to think it wasn't going to be our day but once we equalised you knew we were going to go on and win. Rossiter was MOTM. Mayor was quiet, but started to come into the game the more it went on.
Byron Moore is a vastly underrated Bury player.

There were no Oldham fans ‘causing aggro’ during the game any more than Bury fans, behave. I saw nothing before or after either but that’s not to say there wasn’t any.

Your mob were chucking coins into the away ends so yes, we will criticise when that sort of thing happens. You have just as much of an issue with fooligans as we do for derby games (like most other clubs in the country) so don’t act like you’re immune from criticism.

As for the game, it went truly as expected. Bury could have been home and dry by half time but spurned some glorious chances. No doubt they’re on their way up this season. As for us, we haven’t been good enough all year to mount a serious charge at the play offs and we are where we deserve to be - as depressing as that is.

Behave? Just re read my post if you can.

It was your fan and now you complaining about our supporters as though your lot were angels yesterday.

If there were coins lobbed into the away end then I am sorry to hear that.

My point was I wouldn't mind the criticism of our fans if Oldham fans were renound for being wonderfully behaved supporters who never cause aggro and have never caused trouble at Gigg Lane. I saw your lot kicking off before and after and there was the smoke bomb chucked into our end after the goal from the Cemmy end away fans.
Both clubs have knobhead elements and neither are in a position to take the morale high ground.

You edited your post after I had responded...

I’m glad we’re in agreement that neither fans are angels. I personally saw no aggro yesterday but as I say, that’s not to say there wasn’t any. I think we can call out when oppo fans have acted up, in the same way you can when we do.

I know, but I couldn't resist a witty response.

Dare I ask your thoughts on the Scholes appointment, does he not have an experienced assistant?

Far too early to tell. Early signs aren’t great but he’s inherited a really poor squad with well-reported off-field shenanigans. He’s hardly had any chance to work with players on the training field as we’ve been played Saturday, Tuesday since he’s come in so he needs time and a transfer window. Just hoping we can finish the season positively and go again next year. Yourselves and MK were best placed to go straight back up so it’s no surprise at what’s happened. A top half finish for the first time in years would be nice!

Mick Priest is his assistant so he’s got experienced support.
