You can't beat a game under the lights on a Friday night to start the weekend. Rovers come off the back of a 4-1 defeat at home to Newport but seem to be getting results away from home. These results have been impressive too.

For us, we are trying to build momentum and this is the perfect opportunity after a 3-2 win at Yeovil last Saturday. This one could go either way.

Cambridge seem to be in fairly decent form, winning 2 of their last 3 and only Portsmouth have won at the Abbey since early September.

We'll need to play an awful lot better than we did against Newport and cut out the ridiculous individual errors if we're going to continue our excellent away form.

This is a very tough one to call. I didn't see last weeks shambolic display coming and really don't know what to expect after that.

Pity it's not a Saturday as we always travel in good numbers and I'd have expected a good following of Gasheads given our decent away record. However 180+ miles for a night match is a pretty lengthy treck so there won't be as many of us as usual.

I agree with SVH, it could go either way and I'd be pretty happy with a draw. Cambridge 1-1 Rovers

There's a live beam back from our ground as well, we won't take many at all.

Steady my fellow u's but I think we'll win this, the best stadium lights in football FACT will be full beam and it's full steam ahead on the pitch.

I assume Roberts will be back in the starting line up following suspension so we "should" have a back four of players in their accustomed positions. Greg Taylor did very well at Yeovil I hear but he's a full back really and I'd be more comfortable with him there.

In front of the back four, it's anyone's guess. Rovers had a terrible result last weekend so I expect they'll look to keep it tight from the off and therefore I can see goals coming later in the game (might be total bollocks but the theory is there).

I'd like to see Dunk and Demetriou start rather than one or the other, they've been two of our best performers so far.

I would hope the Cambridge fans remind the sag following as to where their star player Ellis Harrison was on Monday night? That would be in the away end for Cardiff City v Bristol CITY!
Sheet 'eddd, sheet eddd!
Even their best player knows there really is ONE TEAM IN BRISTOL.
4-0. 4 Harrison own goals.

Do any rovers fans write on your threads all the time just out of interests? Do we have a thread on any of our forums that's just all things about you like you do to us ?

It was a light hearted comment due to Ellis' attendance on Monday. I can't help what other people do and thought it was worth a light hearted prod at our 'nearest and dearest'.
Obviously not!

Cambridge seem to be in fairly decent form, winning 2 of their last 3 and only Portsmouth have won at the Abbey since early September.

I love how opposition supporters present these things. 4 home wins in our last 23.
4 losses in our last 7 at home. Early September included being beaten at home by two Vauxhall Alliance sides.

The two we did win were both (kinda) derbies, and as any foo' kno', the formbook goes out the window. So unless you're outside, we've not won at home since the opening day, and we've lost 4 of the last five at the Abbey.

Damning facts - Gas to win 3-1.

I found the most interesting thing about us lending you a couple of our players to help your suffering away attendances was that you still couldn't reach 1000 fans making the journey. Mind you, I watched the game, and I'm pretty sure Ellis, Gosling and the other few that made the trip would have wished they'd stayed at home also.

As for this game, our away form is excellent and the everyone has a point to prove after the Newport game. Hope the result was a one off, I feel we win this one 2-1

Poxy 'bubble' put loads (including myself) off. As for the quality, I don't need to answer that as many Championship supporters have remarked how well we played.
Your lot are a bit confusing TBH, excellent results away but poor at home. Like you, I expect you to win this one but the home form must be a concern?

But it's your number one derby!

You didn't play badly, probably the better side, but it was a boring game, particularly first half!

Home form definitely a concern, odd seeing as we barely lost a game at home last season, but if we come back with a good result we're in a decent position.

RefWatch; Ref for Cambridge v Gas game (played each other 32 times, Cambridge W 7, Rovers W 17, D 8) is Brendan Malone, 47, the big fat postie from Wiltshire. Says he has gotten up at 4am every morning for the last 29 years. He doesn't say why, presume its to bang his wife with his huge bionic cock and then deliver letters around Swindon afterwards with his sticky fingers. Ref since '81 in lower leagues, FL ref for 5 years. Noticeably fatter & slower this season than last. Reffed Cambridge once, 0-0 draw with Southend in March (2Y). Reffed Rovers 5 times - W 1, D 1, L 3 (6 Y & 1R ), most recently the 1-0 win at Huish Park in August. Both teams have good disciplinary records this season, both have just 15 Y, Cambridge have 3 R, Gas just 2. Mansfield have the worst record so far, 40 Y & 2 R - they were the worst last season as well - 85 Y & 7 R. Christ, try kicking the fucking ball sometime, you dirty, dirty Stags. Home win % is exactly 50%. In 31 games last season he gave 60 Y & 5 R - low.
AnagramWatch; Brendan Malone = Mend Anal Boner. Mean Boner Land. Damn Lean Boner. Ban Renal Demon. Banned Oral Men. Renal Man Boned.

Not sure where the go-to place for away fans is anymore. I recommend the Dobblers and Cambridge Blue if you're walking from the station through the housing estates.

There's several on Mill Road, White Swan, Earl of Beaconsfield and Kingston Arms (just off Mill Rd near the Swan). Then you have the Duke, Blue Moon or Tram Depot on the East Road route. Of course, we have some cracking pubs in the town centre/riverside areas, but a taxi may be required.

The Wrestlers is a Thai restaurant cleverly disguised as a pub, which is the closest establishment to the ground. It is sadly shut by the powers that be when anyone with a support of over 300 come to town.

Looking forward to tonight, nothing better than a game under the lights, I predict a 2-2 draw.

And lastly, a word for our physio Greg Reid who has been with us almost 20 years, tonight will be his last game in dugout. Godspeed, Greg.

Cracking result, game completely changed when Taylor came on, goal and an assist. Awful awful performance in the first half but we came out with a proper performance second half like we had done before the Newport loss. If we could sort our home form out we'd be definite for a playoff place

Words fail me. We are terrible. Nothing else to add at the moment, just pathetic. I can't even bring myself to swear.
