Some of our fans (e.g. the ones who booed at the end of the Colchester game) will inevitably start getting twitchy if we don't get anything here, but Utd are a bit of a bogey side for us lately and we are still getting used to each other, so I'd be happy with a point.

Ideally Dennis will come in for Stead, who bless him struggled a bit last week, but other than that I think we will be largely unchanged.

Heart says 0-1 Notts, head says a draw.

I'd be inclined to drop Thomas who played okay last week and go 4132 and play Kellet or Hussin in a narrow midfield and push the full backs up for width.
I just don't see Hemmings and Stead/Dennis getting enough service from the way we played last week and Vaughan can't run hard enough in a midfield two with Hewitt. Thought we looked a man short at times in the middle.

I can see a 451 away from home this season. I don't know if Kellett is fit but I don't know if Husin is the answer... I think we need to bring in a nasty bastard to do the physical stuff. Someone like Doyle at Coventry.

My first time going to the Abbey... Looking forward to it but I can see another frustrating afternoon. We are definitely work in progress

After the limp performance at Vale, i think United will be much improved this time out. County will be tough to beat though, so I reckon 1-1.

Azeez has to be dropped - assuming either of Corr or Jabo is fit enough to stand still and hold off defenders. Hopefully Brown returns to play off a big man and Maris can drop back and dictate the tempo next to Deegan.

I'd give Mitov a go, but Forde will play.

I don't think Kellett is fit, i'd stick to the same system, with Dennis in for Stead, no need to tinker things too early.

Aye I don’t think there was too much to be worried about last week against a decent team. Definitely be good to get Dennis in, but that’s the only change I would make.

Be interesting to see how we do away from home, it was our big issue last season but we should be much more capable of playing on the break this year.

I agree, although I think we could see more goals, especially if Brad is not able to return at RB. I think he might want to start Lambe but I'd go with him and Corr to come off the bench. I'd have to leave Davies out of the squad to have both Lewis and Osadebe available, even though I blame those beside and in front of him for most of the problems last saturday.

Forde
Halliday, Taylor, Taft, Carroll
Deegan, Maris
Amoo, Brown, Dunk
Ibhere

Subs: Mitov, John, Osadebe, Lewis, Corr, Lambe, Azeez

Chances of Fitz doing what other Notts keepers have done and give away free goals?

Do the U's have pace? If so you'll cause us issues

Depends who’s back for us as to whether we’ll get get anything, need brad back and some of the strikers, Corr and brown would be handy.
Going for a sneaky 2-1.

Injury/illness update - Brown, Dunk and Lewis are out. Might even go with 2 up front? Or do we just draft Knowles in on the left and leave Azeez on the bench? Diamond or flat 4 in midfield?

Forde
Halliday, Taylor, Taft, Carroll
Deegan, Maris
Amoo, Brown, Dunk Lambe
Ibhere, Azeez

Subs: Mitov, John, Osadebe, Lewis, Corr, Lambe, Azeez Davies and just possibly Squires or Knowles

Cannot believe I'm reading Notts fans calling for changes and suggesting of all people Husin should be playing he's given no indications he's nowhere near football league standard. One of the signings along with Virtue who cost us promotion.

Gutted not to be making the trip to Cambridge today wonder if the annual tradition of goalkeeping hilarity will repeat itself.

I’m really looking forward to it today, we got stuffed in the opening game so there’s a big incentive to get today right. We’ve had a decent record against County in recent seasons so plenty to feel confident about regardless of how poor our summer has been.

Plus frankly a couple of beers beforehand would be very welcome.

Latest rumour suggests that Greg Taylor is out - which means John or Darling to start. Bullishness falling.

I'd totally forgotten that Liam O'Neil was still in the building - so he'll probably start ahead of Azeez. Deflation complete.

Oh, that’s it??? Check out our record against another team in Amber!! Even worse. We clearly don’t like the colour

Well, I admit I find this whole bogey team business hilarious, but perhaps that's just me. I was so sure you were finally going to beat us today after looking at the starting line up esp at the back - a kid at CH plus a decent but very inexperienced goalie, and I thought your strikers were going to have a field day tbh.

We've got our fair share of bogey teams too but I could never understand how this thing works. I mean it seems like it really doesn't matter if the performance vs a bogey team is decent or not, the final result is almost always too predictable :dk:

Got to love sky sports

Pretty much along the lines of “Kane Henmings missed a sitter then Cambridge go up the other end and score”

Our record against Cambridge is just becoming one of those things that you can’t really explain. I actually thought that we played quite well and really should’ve won, but Brisley had an absolute shocker and switched off three times, all of which somehow ended in goals.

Boldewijn, though, looks bloody brilliant.

Bogey sides don’t bother me, every team has one or two. Works both ways

Ours are Accrington and Plymouth, helpfully neither of them are in our league, when you’re getting 1 maybe 2 points from Mansfield and Cambridge it’s not ideal.

Hmmm one of those days today, we had the chances to win it.

Controversial opinion but I don’t think we will be a top team until we address the keeper. Fitz’s Distribution is good but he’s not Manuel Nuer and he clearly thinks he is.

We played some good stuff and when Dennis and Kellet are fully fit we will be good going forward. Hemings looks good, great feet, good movement brings others into play. Thought Vaughn was excellent. Enzio looks worth the layout.

Strikers.... all 3 missed good chances, Stead and hemmings with the worst misses. Hemmings was a real kick in the teeth because the resulting play lead to the goal.

The ref was awful for us today. Never seen a ref give so many 50 / 50s one way. The foul for the U’s second goal wasn’t a foul. I’m pretty sure the Cambridge keeper handled outside the area. Would have to see it again though...

Cambridge were organised, solid and basically kept going with the rub of the green today. Thought it was a good game.

What’s with the stand being so far from the goal? Why is half of one of your side stands not used? All in all it makes for an odd atmosphere?

Lots to say but too drunk to be coherent. Not sure what we did to deserve those 3 points apart from wanting them more.

I guess that's L2. We have quite a good record against County.

Not going to get too down over that, another day Hemmings sticks that away and we win 3-2 (Yes, yes Adam, I know you warned us ;) ) Other than that he was excellent though.

Weirdly it was the better players from last season who had a bad day at the office today - Hewitt, Brisley, and our full backs Jones and Tootle, who got forward so well last year, haven’t really got going yet. Vaughan and Boldewijn good though.

Cambridge always do a number on us tho, they will get a lot of points at tel he Abbey this season, so let’s just move on to Friday and hopefully three points v Yeovil at home...
