Thought we got away with that, a draw was probably the most we deserved with Notts looking the more likely to win. You can’t beat an injury time winner when you’ve been edged. ;-)

Barry Corr, I love you geezer. On a pay as you play (prob £1k) and a goal bonus (prob £1k). So probably £2k for that win today but worth every penny. Love it.

Notts weren’t far off, they just didn’t go for the jugular enough. We were there for the taking and Notts missed two absolute sitters. They’ll have a good season if they play like that away from home most weeks.

Hmmm one of those days today, we had the chances to win it.

Controversial opinion but I don’t think we will be a top team until we address the keeper. Fitz’s Distribution is good but he’s not Manuel Nuer and he clearly thinks he is.

We played some good stuff and when Dennis and Kellet are fully fit we will be good going forward. Hemings looks good, great feet, good movement brings others into play. Thought Vaughn was excellent. Enzio looks worth the layout.

Strikers.... all 3 missed good chances, Stead and hemmings with the worst misses. Hemmings was a real kick in the teeth because the resulting play lead to the goal.

The ref was awful for us today. Never seen a ref give so many 50 / 50s one way. The foul for the U’s second goal wasn’t a foul. I’m pretty sure the Cambridge keeper handled outside the area. Would have to see it again though...

Cambridge were organised, solid and basically kept going with the rub of the green today. Thought it was a good game.

What’s with the stand being so far from the goal? Why is half of one of your side stands not used? All in all it makes for an odd atmosphere?

We had/have plans to build at the Newmarket Road end and for one season (when I bought my first season ticket in the Habbin) we moved the pitch towards your away end. Since then we've had a plan that will eventually move the pitch back south to make room for the new (bigger) terrace.

The "empty" terrace is there for when a team turns up with a big enough away support (Lu'on, Grimsby, Man Ure, possibly Lincoln). Otherwise it has become an art installation.

Yes, just to add to Alan’s post, the origin of the away end being 20 yards back comes from the proposed ground redevelopment in the early 00s. We were going to do one stand at a time and shift the pitch 20 yards towards the away end. We ran out of money and alas the end result is what you see. I agree you’re a long way from the pitch and it’s shit but I’m afraid it is what it is. Blame our ex owners.

Having watched the goals again. It looks worse for Fitz. He alongside Brisley have a lot of questions to answer for all 3 goals.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we went for a keeper on loan, Fitzsimons is just spreading panic through the defence at the minute. The only thing I can say for him is that he was a bit like this for three or four weeks when he came into the team last season, but then seemed to settle down.

I’m still pretty positive tbh, think we all expected it to take time with so many new players and that was a more positive away performance than pretty much anything we managed last season. If we’d have been more clinical and had a competent goalkeeping display then we could’ve won it fairly comfortably.

Boldewijn and Hemmings in particular were really good - it’ll be a big step forward when their build up play is supplying Dennis rather than old man Jon.

You know what, if that had been a draw I'd have been pissed off as a County fan, but take what you can and we utilised a moment of inexplicably shoddy defending for our first, then a bit of Baz magic to win it, that's what we do it for eh?!

Notts not at their best but clearly better than us, they'll be fine, just one of those days. Good send off for me.

Having watched the goals Brisley dropped a clanger. Hall really needs to be starting if only for his pace.
Fitz became a good keeper last season but as Jacob says he started off shakily.
Yeovil is quite a bit game now, 4 pts from 9 is okay, 1 or 2 not so much.

What a goal that first one was, other side of the coin regarding the defending though!
