Can Leicester carry on their form next season, or just a flash in the pan?

Hang on mate, we're just trying to lull the bookies into a false sense of security and when they offer big odds, then we pounce. We're the punters Champions!

Said it before, all their players are one season wonders (except Kante). Massive fluke.

No doubt they've acquired some clingers on this year, who will expect a repeat next season.

If they're in a relegation battle for the whole of next season, does Ranieri get the boot?

In today's game, how long does he have, realistically? Winning the league is obviously on another level to anything they'll probably ever do again, but is the loss of PL football a step too far in their gratitude to Ranieri?

What's the consensus amongst the Leicester fans JJ?

Give him the season, see where we end up. Nobody wants him sacked.
We're winning the FA cup and Champions league so I reckon he'll be allowed a poor league performance!

Seems the best thread to ask this in after Leicester's 5th straight loss today, and with no goals in any of them.

Vardy. Shit this season because he's reverted to the quality he'd shown in previous seasons and last season was an anomaly (probably not helped by the nice new lucrative contract)? Or shit this season because he simply isn't getting the service given the rest of the team is shit?

He wasnt shit in previous seasons. He scored over 20 goals when we got promoted, then in our first season back he wasnt played up front, he played wide off of Nugent and later Ulloa. Hes not being given the chances this season, we created two today, one for him and one for Slimani. He needs a 100% conversion rate to get on the scoresheet for us this year.

Vardy is an average championship level player, while Drinkwater should thank Kante for the 3 England caps. Bet Arsenal fans are glad Vardy snubbed them.

Looking at their forums in the build-up to their game on Saturday and most Leicester fans want him gone -- a little over six months after leading them to the title. I know that "there is little room for sentiment in football," but what Leicester have achieved in a single season far eclipses what any supporter must have dreamed possible in a single lifetime. He deserves a full season at the very least.

Theres plenty of fans who joined in supporting once we looked like winning the league. The sort of fans who watch Man Utd more than us.
We have about 10 days which could make or break Ranieri (well remake, I think last season was pretty decent) FA cup v Millwall, CL v Sevilla and Liverpool in the league. Win all those, everything is rosy. Lose them all and he could be out of a job. Middle ground is fine though, Fa cup win, any result v Sevilla that isn't humiliating and some kind of result vs the Scouse contingent.

Honestly think they have to make the change. They'll go down with him in charge - thought this when Chelsea played them in Jan (they looked abject at the time and have since suffered fur more consecutive defeatts without scoring). It seems obscene given what he achieved last year but so far as survival is concerned it's the only sensible option (besides, his managerial record is nothing if not patchy. They'll get someone the equal of him if not better, despite his heroics last year).

I see what you're saying. Replace him now, stay up, Prem title next season, treble winners the season after.
Well when you put it like that...

The 'what have you done for me lately' cliche would be a harsh application in this instance, but from the outside it does seem as if the loyalty to his players has been to the detriment of the whole club. In general and as a whole, Leichester were always going to struggle with keeping up the intensity and sheer will (that isn't to take away from the brilliant football they played last season) which got them to a probably-never-to-be-repeated-again feat - that was winning the title. The struggles of keeping the mentality in the dressing room at peak is evident even among the 'big boys' in how we haven't had back to back title winners since SAF (06-07, 07-08, 08-09) and Jose Mourinho (04-05, 05, 06). Obviously there are many other factors but psychology plays a yugely significant role doesn't it.

Ranieri seems to have driven the momentum off a cliff, though. Signings haven't had the desired impact and the world beaters of last season look jaded. It's taken 25 games for him to acknowledge/register that things need to be shaken up for it to be turned around. Of course there would have been many [supporters] jumping on the bandwagon since the title win, but there's a pretty potent ineptness that's been demonstrated and I could sympathise with concerns and some frustrations.

Saying all that, Claudio still deserves a second season for me. But 1 point off relegation epitomises the fine line he is treading (I imagine) for many.

This is one of my favourite posts from FoxesTalk:

"The worst of all this is the missed opportunity to build a 'dynasty' (a bit silly, but Press buzz word). When Forest had a shock title win they went on to have nearly 20 years near the top - and a couple of European Cups - and I was so looking forward to top half finishes / top players / cup wins / europe and that luvly sense of pride that comes with supporting a successful team. All we have to look forward to now is embarassment and struggling in the Championship. The joys of being a Leicester fan!"

How's that for perspective...

The legend that is Porky Parry suggested last summer that they should've sacked him as they were only ever gonna go backwards. Good call imo.
