We’ve drawn Newport at home, not a bad first round tie really

Port Vale away. Its classed as local but does not feel it.
Semi finals last year. This year happy to go out first round and make the play offs.

Hull at home for us, difficult but always more interesting when you draw a team from a different league.

Salford v Leeds has the feel of being rigged.

Bolton at home. Local, and they'll probably bring a fair few. Not three bad.

Sigh.

The circus of this fixture comes around for the first of three occasions this season.

Oh well, I suppose the potential of some TV money is a slight positive.

I'd rather do without it. I do wonder if they manipulate  the draws a bit at times.

What a farce of a draw. If Salford being at home to Leeds wasn’t obvious enough we go and get that lot...

Still, it’ll give them a chance to break whichever regulation they were charged for last time again so that’ll be fun.

I've always thought draws were rigged, it's hard enough to get people interested in the competition at this stage as it is, so sticking a few ties together with a bit of an edge or novelty factor, so a few more time in on the TV wouldn't surprise me.

Away at Huddersfield. Bit 'meh', but relatively local.

For Lincoln fans, yesterday was like being transported back to the mid to late 00's. New league, but most of the teams we've played many times in recent times, including Huddersfield.

Cheltenham at home, very happy with that.

Although we’ve now canceled our friendly with them. I hope we can replace this

Salford a FL side for about 10 days, and already on TV and radio twice.
Must be that their ground doesn't have the capacity for everyone that wants to watch them.
I hope the execs burn in hell.

We haven't won in this competition since 2010. Don't see that changing

We entertain Bolton. Don't know how strong their team will be - have their senior players been paid, or is in going to be their youngsters?

Couldn't care if we lost, pointless competition and time it was scrapped.
Yet more ticket price nonsense as well - £20 adult ticket, £8 kids, I was contemplating going till I saw that. It's the kind of game where people should be boycotting for those sorts of prices.

We're at Huddersfield and changing the team around.

They should sack this competition off IMO. No-one takes it seriously.

It's a good opportunity for lower league clubs to get a chance for a decent tie against a Prem team, potentially TV money and half decent revenue from the game if you can get to R2/R3+. The money from our second round 4-0 win over Man Utd a few years ago allowed us to sign two players we wouldn't have been able to afford the wages of otherwise and both were key in getting us promoted that season (Jordan Spence and Carl Baker).

So I think it does have value. Unlike the EFL Trophy (aka the Leasing.com trophy) which IS a massive waste of time and a huge inconvenience to L1/L2 teams. The only teams it benefits are the U21 sides that enter.

Total waste of time this competition these days , no prize money for winning, only a 40% cut of tiny crowd plus expenses from tonight, the big clubs put the stiffs out and we'll be doing the same tonight as our management wont risk key players tonight.
We'll be making at least 7 changes and possibly more just give players a rest as like most teams we'll be playing Saturday Tuesday until the middle of next month and some of senior pros missed a big chunk of pre season added to that we have a few injuries plus a key defender serving the last of his 3 game ban.

For me it needs to be reformatted like the Scottish one, start it earlier so it replaces meaningless friendly games, have it as a group based competition and make it knockout after the season starts, more interest that way. As for us it’s off to Clegg for a visit to the Cod heads

Not a bad idea that. I've been in favour of scrapping it altogether for a while now, but reformatting it a la Scotland would make sense.
