There did not appear to be a thread already made for this match, so here it is!

We've really got to win this one as the following matches are against teams around the top so we want to build momentum and with our new signings that's exactly what we're starting to do.

I'll go for a 2-1 win for Carlisle, I would of said a 1-0 win but come on when do we ever keep clean sheets?

Hello Carver

Blackpool I think play some of the best football in the division but hopefully we can do a professional job on them, I agree about the momentum thing, it was good to see our new signings have good individual games last weekend, hopefully this weekend they gel. No Proctor for us though, so I'd like to see us start with Jabo and Miller up front.

Just had a look at Blackpool's recent form, 5 draws in the last six league games. It'll be another tough game, they've got some decent players in their squad and are solid on the road.

I'd keep the same team as last weekend with Miller coming in for Proctor, and Jones for Devitt. A win would set us up nicely ahead of the Doncaster game, I'll go for a narrow 2-1 win.

Devitt was one of our best players last week. Defensively far better than any of our other midfielders, put in some very important tackles and rarely gave the ball away.

I'd probably sacrifice OSullivan for Jones.

Gillespie
T Miller Raynes Liddle Gillesphey:(
Devitt Jones Joyce Adams

Hello! :)

Excuse me my friend but you got my name wrong, that's the second time I've been referred to as that name since I joined here yesterday. :bl:

Well any who, it is great to see that there is a handful of fellow Carlisle fans on here and I hope you are all as positive about our season as I am!! Because I would be upset if there was any of us here who are very negative of our chances considering where we were this time only a couple of season ago.

With Proctor out I'd prefer we went with Wearing and Miller upfront because I don't know Jabo has just looked poor recently in front of goal.

Kennedy out for at least 6 weeks. He won't be as big a loss as Jones or Grainger, we've got decent options in midfield, but he's always handy for a goal or two. Perhaps Bailey is his replacement?

It is a bother though that through injury and sale in the past week we've lost 25-odd goals out of the team.

I think Devitt or Bailey or O'Sullivan or any midfielder really could replace him in the starting line-up as Kennedy was usually played out of his preferred position anyway, it's the goals we'll miss.

Ah now I see why people think I'm someone else, a moderator has obviously edited my post count to make it look that way for some reason, but not to worry as I'm sure me and you will get along very nicely and to show you how much of a great friendship we can have, I will start by saying that the team of Wycombe Wanderers have the best sportsmanship in L2 and that you sir are a wonderful human being!

His parole has ended, so they've given him a new identity so he can put the past behind him and start a new life.

Well that was gash. 4-1 flattered us, we were dreadful.

My mate summed up the way we played perfectly by saying it was like we were waiting for Blackpool to give us the ball.

Also I don't know what we've done to wind up the Blackpool fans so much.

TBF, some very surprising results today and not just this one although I'm not surprised Blackpool won but only with the winning margin. Wycombe, who have imo one of L2 's better back lines, let in three goals at Stevenage, Crewe scored five goals in a match :eyes:, Orient got a point, and Notts C won too. We lost at Morecambe, which some won't find surprising, but what surely is that apparently we only had one decent goal scoring chance in 90 mins.

Well that just confirms my feeling that we're no where near good enough for top 3. How we're still in it is a miracle really. The way results have gone today playoffs are even looking a bit dodgy. Wycombe in 8th are 6 points behind us, and we meet next weekend. Huge game that one.

I'm still going to back us for top 7, just. However with tough fixtures coming we have to improve or we'll end up 8th or worse.

Today was one of them days where everyone played bad and there wasn't a single good performance.. From minute 1 we were second best and that's how it contInued. Changing to a back 3 at half time was a MISTAKE by Curle. It clearly didn't suit us last week so no idea why he changed to it. We were even worse second half and the 3 second half goals were all individual fuck ups.

Poor day, we'll lose on Tuesday as well, then big game on Saturday at Wycombe.

Gillesphey is fucking useless, I'd send him back to Newcastle right away. Not one player can say they had a good game today, utterly pathetic. Blackpool didn't have to do a great deal, but we're comfortably better than us.

Waring was hopeless, did he actually win a header all game?

I'd settle for 7th place based on that shite.

I'd also settle for 7th.

To be honest it doesn't matter where you finish in the playoffs as Wimbledon proved last season.

Let's face it, top 3 is an absolute write off. There's absolutely no chance we'll get it unless some freak upturn in form happens over the next month. So anywhere between 4th and 7th would be a good finish.

Just seen the highlights, that third goal required three major cock ups consecutively. Not sure I have seen that combination of errors before.

Don't think there's been much wrong with Gillesphey when played in his natural position, it's just we haven't seen that in a while.

I thought Waring was alright in the first half alongside Miller, after Jabo came on he sort of faded alongside a similar type but much better player, though we looked a bit better going forward.

Well you wouldn't, you don't make a habit of watching Carlisle play, if you came to our games on a regular basis it wouldn't even be considered a remarkable level of cock-up any more. We make these sort of cock-ups in every game, sometimes we get lucky, sometimes our opponents just can't take advantage... sometimes we get done over proper naughty like.

The highlights probably don't even show the time that a routine ball got pitched into box and Gillespie, under minimal pressure decided not to catch, not to punch, but instead to sort of do a flying roundhouse kick glancing the ball directly up into the air offering us a couple seconds of respite before the Blackpool players had gathered beneath it waiting to cause us danger. If you didn't laugh you'd cry.

Basically we defend as though we're being controlled by a kid trying to learn all the special moves on FIFA08

At first I thought Gillesphey was struggling because he's not a left back, but now I think it's gone beyond that. For example not being able to play a pass 8 yards along the ground to a team mate without it going out of play is nothing to do with him playing in an unfamiliar position. He's just poor at the moment.

At the moment yeah, but we've seen him play well before too, I think it's a psychological thing that when things aren't going well for a player which may be due to being played out of position, they start making all kinds of mistakes they wouldn't normally make. The crowd are on his back he becomes scared to make a mistake and mistakes surely follow.
