Crawley are having a stopover at a staging post in Cheshire on the way up for this one. So they can break up the trip, get some rest and presumably leave a cache of supplies for the return journey. Harry Kewell apparently has yet to realise he isn't in Australia anymore. Hopefully spending two days travelling will have knackered them for tomorrow's game.

Another thing I read was that apparently our 'large pitch' will suit their 'passing game'... I'm not sure which book of footballing wisdom that came from, I always thought the idea was small pitch, better for passing, big pitch better for direct play and pace. Maybe it's different in Aussie rules.

Nothing much more to add, another game we need to be winning if we're to keep our playoff hopes alive. Nadesan back into the starting line-up for Bennett would do nicely.

Are Carlisle still playing it out from the back....via every blade of grass? If yes this could be one of the most boring games of football you are ever likely to see because that's what we do.

Yorwerth is suspended for two games due ten yellows I would put McNerney in his place but Jewell will go with Lelan.

Enjoy our non-striker style tomorrow.

No, I'm pretty sure they have it the right way round. Large pitches tend to suit passing teams because there is more space to play, harder for the opposition to close down. Small pitches are suitable for direct teams because they don't have as far to hoof it, also means defensive teams have less space to cover.

Although, if the information available online is correct, your pitch currently measures 112 x 74 yards. The EFL minimum is 110 and 70. So it's not far off the minimum length and width, aka, one of the smallest in the league.

We used to have the joint largest (with Scunthorpe and Man City when the latter were at Maine Road), but of course managers can adjust the size of a pitch to suit their playing styles.

There's probably a lot more to it than just one type of pitch suits one type of play and vice versa but my understanding was always that small pitches suited passing teams because there was less space therefore passing had to be more accurate and longer balls would be easier to cut out, whereas a large pitch suited a direct team because there was more space to hoof it into and for pacey forwards to accellerate from defenders to pick it up. They key is probably though that none of this works if you're on the back foot and your opponents are the ones dictacting what kind of game it's gonna be.

We've gone more direct in the last couple of months, though 'patiently waiting' for the right opportunity to attack still plays some part.

Yorwerth? suspended? Surely not!

Fancy us to win the this one, though it’ll likely be another scrappy affair. 6 points from these 2 home games is necessary for me, Cheltenham away is always tough and Lincoln/Luton will undoubtedly be very tough. Hopefully Stockton doesn’t start, looks comfortably worse than Bennett.

Small patch of grass compared to Vale Parks vast 114 x 77 yards. Ours is absolutely massive... which is good when you have decent wingers... which we don’t have currently.

He doesn't look anywhere near as bad as Bennett. Hope's been doing well on the wing of late so I wouldn't want to see him moved from there and I wouldn't want to see us go one up front at home so we need someone alongside Nadesan, assuming Nadesan starts, I'd go with Stockton but Curle might plump for Bennett as if he has one of his occasional decent games his knock downs could come in handy.

Aye Stockton has been shit so far, but he hasn’t been as bad as Bennett.

Bennett has the worst first touch from a professional footballer that I think I’ve seen. And to top it off he needs about 10 clear cut chances to score 1 goal. He’s shit.

If Stockton got half the easy chances that Bennett has missed, im sure he’d score more goals. Still needs big improvements though.

Discussing strikers. I wish we had some of those.

Thomas Verheydt is injured (again) and Panutche a Camara is not trusted. We're very played most of the season with Jordan Roberts up front and, to be fair, he has not done too badly for a winger but oohh for the days of Tubbs (pen) or even Rhys Murphy!

What a fucking cock sucking slut whore Curle is.

Cruising at 2-0, then the most fucktarded set of substitutions from c*** Curle hands the initiative to crawley and we let them get it back to 2-2 and with all our subs used we’re playing with 2 wingers up front. There’s no way we should have allowed crawley back into that game.

I just want him gone. He’s a fucking cretin.

Well this result basically confirms the CUFC league will be made up of three sides once again and that's always preferable to just two. I can't be sure but I like to think Curle was aware of this when his lot were cruising at two nil and took matters into his own hands to rectify the situation. Cheers my man.

Oh btw, hello Carver! Long time no speak mate.

Well that was shit. At times in the first half and at 2-0 up I thought this is gonna be a big win. Just threw it away, too defensive at 2-0, you could see we had no confidence in ourselves.

good goal from Bennett, first time ever you hear the fans getting angry when bennets number comes up on the fourth officials board. You wonder how many of those would have cheered at bennet going off had he not scored, the lads stood behind me though clearly didn't get to many games, seemed to think Lambe was a manager's favorite. He may have had a poor game but I don't think you could accuse Curle of being biased towards him given he was just recently dropped.

In fairness Bennett played really well today. His use of the ball was better, he was finding blue shirts and he was actually winning headers and putting some direction on them. Great goal as well.

I thought he was going to score when he got the ball there, he had the time and space to pick his spot, he just seems like he does have a good shot on him but sadly struggles when he has to think quickly which at this level is almost all the time. He did make a few decent touches before then, but also a few poor ones and had he not scored I don't think he'd have been given much credit for what he did well today.

Still very frustrated, we really did look like we were going to run away with it for a bit and the fact that this draw realistically ends our play-off hopes is part of that. Curle doesn't offer any insight into his substitutions in his post-match interview and I really would like to know what he was thinking. Not sure why he took Nadesan or Devitt off, but left Lambe on who was having a poor game. I think Joyce probably was the right player to bring on at the time as Jones wasn't his usual faultless self but it didn't help, we still let them have far too much of the ball. O'Sullivan's performance wasn't what anyone, including Keith Curle would have expected from him and I don't think you can blame Curle for that, I just can't work out what replacing our strikers for wingers was really supposed to achieve. If he came out with an explanation then at least you could say, he made a mistake but he hasn't completely lost the plot; the fans at full time seemed to believe he'd completely taken leave of his senses.

Oh ffs lads we end up drawing 2-2 at home in a winnable match after being 2-0 up and we meant to be chasing the play offs??

Honestly Im fucking sick of this shit!!

This is why Curle will never get anyone promoted and it is why our play off hopes are pretty much over now after the useless c*** goes and fucks up again. Is he having a fucking laugh with the subs he made today EH?

GROW A PAIR OF BALLS KEITH AND HAVE US PUT TEAMS AWAY OR FUCK OFF!!

On the plus (1) it wasn't as cold as at FGR!.
On the plus side (2) - how did we draw that!
First 20 mins reminded me of a PSF or last game of season where there's nothing on it.
We were then our usual defensive shambles and 2-0 down. Then your subs and ours changed it and we got the draw. Your keeper should have saved the 2nd though.
Your 2nd, one of our overseas fans watching on TV didn't reckon it crossed the line. Couldn't tell from where we were. See you next season.

The linesman flagged but I don't think there are any camera angles that allow us to confirm whether he was right or not.

Curle fucked that right up, idiotic subs at a point where Crawley looked dead and buried almost. Shocker from Bonham for the equaliser but you could sense a goal coming when we sat back.

Lambe was abysmal, bottled every tackle as usual and looked lost, how he stayed on for the full game was mystifying. Subbing Bennett and Devitt cost us the three points, never looked like scoring after that.

It wasn’t so much the players he took off, it was what he replaced them with.

Replacing 2 strikers with 2 wingers is the most fucktarded thing he could have done. We had Stockton on the bench, surely if he was needing to take Bennett off, bringing stockton on would be the obvious choice.

Still fucking furious about it today. Carver is right, this is why Curle has not and will not ever win promotion with any team. He’s fucking clueless.

Our outfield line up at the end of the game was basically four centre halves, a midfielder and five wingers.

Bonham
Liddle Ellis Hill Parkes
Jones Joyce
O’Sullivan_________________________Hope
Twardek_________________________Lambe

Just looking at the highlights, I think Crawley's equaliser takes a slight deflection on the way through. Bonham should still be saving anything that comes that close to him but it probably looks like a more basic error that it actually was.
