Eh

Match discussion goes here.

All I can really say is that it's a winnable game for us and we really do have to be winning for the sake of the home fans who haven't had a goal to celebrate since August. Wouldn't underestimate Morecambe though, they've had some decent results.

Well, we've played some good football but we've lost loads of matches. Also, we seem devastated by injuries - Kenyon, Fleming, Oliver, Old, Wildig probably all out. Can't see us getting anything here. What's the weather like? Still pissing it down here

We’re due a league win at home v morecambe, but it never happens!

Our home form is shocking, 3 straight defeats, the last 2 have been absolutely pathetic.

Gerrard suspended and Hope on international duty. Bennett, Grainger and Devitt probably still out. Although based on our home games Bennett being out could be a positive. But down to the bare bones nevertheless.

Can only see one outcome, a dour 0-0 or 1-1. But a point is progress from the absolute shite we’ve served up at home recently.

Nothing to get excited about though or even come close to giving home fans value for money.

It’s been pissing down constantly for about 24 hours. I’ve no idea how the pitch has held out. There’s standing water everywhere else. The drainage of the pitch must be excellent if this goes ahead.

It's usually decent, I can't think of any time we've had a match called off due to waterlogging.

EDIT: According to the club, the referee has inspected it and is happy.

If both teams are down to bare bones then I'd expect us to edge it. Surely Morecambe's second string can't be much cop (famous last words) since they must have the smallest budget in the division, and we've still got the likes of Yates, Nadesan, Slater, Sowerby to call upon, plus a big chance for McCarron and the returning Mike Jones. Is Campbell allowed to play in this one? Since he probably has no future at Morecambe I can't see them really pressing the issue in loan negotiations but you never know.

I would normally agree shoddy, we should, but then I remember how utterly toothless we’ve been at home and I can’t see us winning. Plus Morecambe seem to like playing us here, for some reason they more often than not edge games here in performance if not results. The defence without Gerrard is a worry as well.

two fairly catastrophic own goals and all Morecambe have to do now is prevent the worst attacking team in the division from scoring twice. We had some promising moments in the game so far but they'll nip that in the bud now.

Own goals Shoddy? That's a very good and surprising result for us. Why are you getting such poor home performances and (apparently) such good away ones? What's going on there?

Ha!

4 home defeats now in a row without even scoring again.

If you want an away win and keep a clean sheet, then we are here for the taking!!

Who's up next for us at home? Yeovil have the chance to finally beat us in ages.

Are Morecombe getting better or are Carlisle currently struggling? Despite Carlisle's home form, I had this down as a home banker.

No game is a home banker for this shower of shit.

No words can do justice to just how bad this team is at home.
I feel deeply sorry for any fan who has attended every home game but no aways this season.

I’ve been saying this from day 1, but this team has relegation written all over it. We’ve been fortunate with a few wins but once the away form starts to fade we will drop quicker than a building demolition job. The home form shows no sign of improvement, we can’t even score a fucking goal let alone win.

I’m absolutely sick to death of this teams efforts at home. Just shite, a bunch of chancers stealing a living when they should be plumbers playing in the northern league at best.

Thanks for the honest report. Can't see you going down this season, but not currently looking like a blockbuster of a season for you.

the first one definitely, the keeper saved it and it rebounded into a defender but the stadium announcer gave it to the player who took the shot. The second was less clear but my initial thought was it came off parkes head (Parkes had a shocker)

there are no words for what i witnessed today. Defence were diabolical (there's a word but it's not even half sufficient), the ease with which we let Morecambe in time and time again surprised even those of us who have grown used to such things.

I’d kind of forgot how shit our defence is without Gerrard and previously Hill.

But still, the attack is the big issue. With a half competent striker we’d have got an underserved draw today. Bennett’s 2 chances are sitters that a Sunday league player should be scoring. He’s a waste of space. I think a plank of wood would be more effective.

I disagree with you on one aspect of that. I think that had we put away a couple of those chances (or not made the mistakes that led to those goals) you couldn't have called it undeserved.

We were missing so many key players today.

Gerrard, Hope, Devitt, Grainger.

Also Campbell I guess.

I wouldn’t be that arsed if Nadesan went back to be honest. He definitely has promise but we need something more reliable and consistent for the moment.

The whole forward line needs an overhaul. Some I rate in terms of potential, some I don’t, some are just shite. But I wouldn’t complain if any of them left if it means Sheridan can bring some quality in.

Campbell is shite carver. No where near what id call a key player

Well this is what we end up with when the owners don't invest.

They are the ones who are the reason we're rubbish. Manager can't do shit!

I'd say the players responsible for getting the ball into dangerous areas had good games. Yates, Nadesan, McCarron, Slater and Sowerby all looked very good at times, it's just the lack of an end product. Had there been one I think we'd have been pleased with their enterprise, when there isn't one all the running into the area can look a bit pointless. Bennett showed promise until we went two down, and then like a lot of other players, his performance became increasingly sloppy as he lashed at things, criminally smashing a decent shooting opportunity into the roof of the Warwick. It seemed to have a huge psychological effect to go two goals down.

Things that have annoyed me most about this run of poor home performances include the number of times (and we especially did this yesterday) that we'll get the ball into a crossing position and then just blast it across the face of goal, far too hard for anyone to get on the end of it, and it goes out for a throw-in.

Disagree about Bennett. If by promise you mean failing to score a chance from 2 yards with an open goal gaping then yeah. I know it was blocked on the line but he had the whole goal to aim for. The same thing happened against Stevenage and he obviously didn’t learn. Put your foot through it, smash it high into the net where the defender can’t react quick enough to block, just bloody make sure it goes in, not a little fanny tap. That would have made it 1-1 and could have been a different story.

The less said about his attempted volley unmarked in the second half the better.

In the home games this season I’ve seen precisely nothing from Bennett. I hope to god we get rid in January, he’s absolutely shite with a capital SHIT. His hold up, link up play and ball control is non existent, he can’t jump so gets beaten in the air by players a foot shorter than him. He Is not and never will be good enough for this level.

This was before that, though I didn't have a clear view of events down at the Waterworks end thanks to offcomers from the Paddock being allowed in when they should be forced to live with the consequences of their poor choice of stands when it's pissing it down. I ended up lower down than I usually stand.

For the first twenty minutes or so, he got the ball to his feet a lot, and he looks like a much better player when he gets that. I think he's made to look worse than he is by the way that we don't usually treat him like we expect him to be anything other than a big target man. He definitely still needs to learn to take better advantage of his strength and height and getting decent shots away when under pressure, but at the same time he shows some good ability when it comes to receiving it to his feet outside the box and bringing it in.

It's a strange feeling how I look forward to our away games as I feel that we can beat anyone away and put in a great performance.
However when we play at home I feel that we will lose to anyone and we won't score or even look like scoring and play awful.

Ok, so based on what you’ve seen of Bennett over his first season and a bit, would you be happy if he triggers his extra year on his contract, or do you think it would be better for the club if he got released at the end of this season?

I think it would be better if we kept him and made sure he played 90 minutes in every game, especially at home. Just give him a bit more time, he'll become a great target man and 20+ goal a season scoring striker for us. :)

He cost us £50,000 so there must be something good in him.
