It was a game very much devoid of quality but still had some moment due to afew chances and goals.
Terrible pitch but you cannot blame Blackpool for that any pitch would be bad with 2 games in 2 days and really when seeing the mass and mass of surface water in the fields outside Blackpool I was shocked it was in the conditition it was and not worse.
I do think sadly in this can our prior knowledge of that pitch hurt us and helped Yeovil. I think when watching that game we clearly played like a team that changed its approach due tot he pitch while yeovil tried to stick with their usual gameplay and it helped them and hindered us.
we played like some Keith alexanders 'Harlem globetrotters' Lincoln side of the mid 00's....infact that is abit harsh on that team as it at least had some form of organization to it unlike us.........11 big lumps aiming to score off throws and set pieces, we just aimlessly lumped it anywhere with no real direction at all hoping the ball would land somewhere near the box in a wild hope we may by chance get hold of the ball.
the midfield was horrific, Gilliead I'd taken off after 20 minutes since he seemed to join the endless lift of Carlisle wingers who seem to start on the wing and over the course of the season end up at full back.......I don't even think he knew where he was player or what he was doing drifting from every single area of the pitch apart from most of the time an area where the ball actually was.......he was completely anonymous and a total waste of a place in the side.
Mind maybe he worried he'd be like Joyce, who ended up playing worse than a 4 year old kicking a ball for the first time, at least the 4 year old may have kicked it on the ground and possibly......possibly to someone else in blue, I am struggling to remember in all my time a player who made so many horrendous 'passes' in the course of one game as Joyce did yesterday
add in Dicker also doing very little and that was 3 of your 4 midfielders out the game and is probably why it was just up and over all the time.
Good free kick for lead, Yeovil then were better side for most of the half and we all agree Carlisle were extremely fortunate to be ahead. Second half I think we played better early on, but Yeovil came right back into it and the equalizer had been coming 5-8 minutes before and Curle dithered too long on subs, we did well to get back level but then for me made the wrong subs at end of game I'd never for one took Iberhe off since he was only one causing problems up front, plus I'd maybe gone 4-3-3 since we had no midfield anyway.
saying that I do not think we could have done much on that equalizer it was a nice turn and finish
A very good summary, I agree with all that.
