I'm in two minds about this. Where does cellino think the majority of the money comes for paying his players...yup...sky.

I agree with his argument - sky should be far more flexible in showing a variety of games but the viewing figures when Leeds are on are ten fold when Leeds are on sky compared to say an MK Dons. It'll be interested to see if another Leeds game isn't on sky again this season.

What I don't get is the argument that is currently being sprouted about Derby having an advantage. Throughout the whole season clubs have lots of mid week games where others don't - whether that be replays, cup competitions or sky. It does give us a small advantage but I don't hear forest moaning that their opponents tonight have an extra days rest?

It's all a bit petty and shows the club up in a bad way. The tickets prices are rediculously high anyway which would put off the majority of fans anyway.

They'll pick them, just might not be home games. Then they'll be moaning that they don't get much money when they're on tv.

we are a fairly global club believe it or not, the 2.2 million we get from Sky is 1/2 our wage budget for the season

It is a tad unfair I guess when you see Leeds, us, and Forest have been on 9 times whilst Preston, Brentford, Charlton, Rotherham and MK Dons have only been on twice. But obviously Sky want games that will attract more viewers.

We join the 9 times club on New Years Day

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
We refused Sky when in the conference for a game, i think it was our play-off game as we moaned the money they provided (not much back then) would no where near cover crowd costs.

but i think there was alot less clauses than this situation and we didn't set troops on the battlements and demand thou shalt not enter here.

but a club should be allowed its right to not be screened.....but at a cost to fees they receive.

i always hate all the mass of rules and regs attached, if i owned a club (and had money to) i'd stop this walking out shaking hands clap-trap before games, no CL or Prem theme tune would get played and manager could refuse national journo's if wished.

I think it's only the BBC that have picked up on the wider issue here. Cellini obviously knows the value of the Leeds brand internationally and that's what's driving this; a move towards clubs being able to negotiate their own deals.

He'll know how much Sky earn from every broadcast they sell internationally and the associated advertising revenue. This isn't about protecting fans from being messed around over fixtures being moved, it's pure annoyance that LUFC Aren't getting their fair share of those revenues and would be better off negotiating themselves or at least being paid proportionately compared to tinpot rubbish like ourselves, Brentford and Rotherham.

I'd say that if its been fought off many times in the Premier League whenever Manchester United have made similar noises, then it'll be fought off this time too.

The games on. Hits statement has it's merits but it's the method that completely dwarfs any sense within the message.

Was always going to let them in at the last minute. Causes a rush and disruption for Sky, gets him a bit more money as people buy tickets just in case, and gets him his money and no punishment. Win win.

There will probably still be a small punishment

At what cost? Will the powers that be at sky now look at all of their remaining away fixtures and go, Monday, Friday, Tuesday, Friday, Sunday, Tuesday?

Don't know how much it is in the home end on the day but I bet there's not many Derby fans that snapped his hand off for a ticket at £42.

Stand up to Sky? Should be standing up to this c*** and every other rip off match day ticket, including ours.

Cellino's game of brinkmanship only bettered by mine. I held out well not to buy a ticket and have been rewarded with the match in front of my steak and chips at home.

I actually would have gone if it had been cheaper so it just goes to show really. I agree Sky are fucking things up for fans and players but just after Christmas to charge a large amount, plus a £5 supplement to have the cheek to pay on the day makes any late decisions to do redundant.

A guy who pretends he's a champion of fan's best interests imposed a cap on away allocations not long ago after people spent 50 quid for the mere ability to apply for away tickets which they wouldn't have been able to get had his decision not been revoked.

Kind of ironic that the football league have been hurt by a guy ultimately allowed to be fit and proper though.

Can't wait for his ban to get upheld whenever the appeal is. Our club started going somewhere when Adam Pearson was the only person actively involved in the foreground.

Thought it was a bold and very brave action... until caving at the last minute. Doubt it'll change anything for Sky/the FL. They'll give Cellino a talking to then brush it under the carpet.
