As dedwardp says we share it with Gloucester City, sadly the ground share has destroyed it, but it's never been as bad as this season, and apparently a lot of money was spent on it in the summer (not that you can tell). They're leaving at the end of this season, but it's going to take a good few years for it to get back to the snooker table baize it used to be.

As for tonight, Carlisle were awful, but we were absolutely brilliant. Their keeper was by far their man of the match, although we didn't make him make any World class saves at all. It felt like one of those games where we just weren't going to score, but Wrighty popping up in the last few minutes was fantastic and the very least we deserved.

Not counting my chickens, but 3 wins and 3 clean-sheets in a row, perhaps now we can start looking upwards and not down.

I don't think the state of the pitch has anything to do with L2 footy if I'm being honest, so it shouldn't be used as an excuse. How many sides play tiki taka style in L2?

But otoh, the chances of players injuring themselves on poor playing surfaces are much higher than when playing on proper decent pitches.

Perhaps in the vast majority of cases, but when it's the more extreme examples of Cheltenham and Newport it does clearly affect the game.

Hopefully Grainger's imminent return can spur a bit of life into this team. I never wanna see Gillesphey play left back again. Nicky Adams hasn't been the same without Grainger supporting him going forward, I can only hope we see this partnership thrive in the coming weeks. I wouldn't start Waring, he's a donkey. Perhaps bring him on late in emergency situations.

Something needs to be changed in midfield too, we've not been strong enough in the past few months. I don't think Bailey is the answer.

A draw will not be enough at Plymouth, Curle has to go for the win. Another defeat and we'll soon drop out of the top three and then the top four. When that happens, we'll be panicking we'll drop out of the top seven altogether, which would be a disgrace after the first half of the season.

Blaming a shite pitch is actually pretty pathetic and just deflects from the fact that we are shit full stop and have been since end of December.

Brunton Park is a nice pitch, a really good pitch that gets a lot of praise... yet we've taken 5 points from a possible 18 in our 6 home games this year.

So good pitch, shit pitch.... it makes no difference if your team is utterly terrible.

I've just seen the goal, and once again it's so poor defensively. Gillesphey with a great assist, flicking it on almost perfectly for the forward to nod in.

It annoys me how many goals we concede due to silly mistakes, but also lack of pressing, the goal tonight and the first two on Saturday for example.

We've been utter clart since November and it STILL doesn't look like changing - it's a miracle we're still in contention really! Terrible week for the club on the whole and it could start turning nasty very soon with this whole billionaire saga still hanging over those in charge...

Like Gregory says, it doesn't matter about what pitch we play on for us 'cause we're still shite eitherway but summat does need to be done about these in general. Let them play on those 3G pitches for all I care. Having to groundshard is no excuse either, the football pitch on the park near mine is in better nick than that and it's probably played on just as much and it's still in a better nick than last nights monstrosity.

I've been looking at this as a big possibility for a while now, especially when we were failing to win any of our kind run of January fixtures. The warning signs were there then and now we've come up against some tougher teams like Portsmouth and Blackpool, our lack of quality at both ends of the pitch has been getting exposed.

Unfortunately for us the fixtures don't get any easier. Plymouth away, Cambridge at home, Luton at home and Mansfield away all games that I expect us to lose. We may pick up something in one of them games but I still think by the end of the Mansfield game we'll be worryingly close to that dreaded 8th place.

Would have been difficult for Liddle to win that. Their striker had the run on him so was already going forward to attack the ball, Liddle was on the back foot and had he jumped still would have been beaten to it imo.
