I wouldn't call Matuidi a reject. The club realized that his level of performance dropped but they were still better than the shower of shite our midfield trio showed on Tuesday. We just decided to take the money from a big club for a good player. The same happened with Lucas Moura and his move to Spurs. We certainly could have used him on Tuesday in Neymar's abscence but hey, FFP and all that (or something).

The same goes for Khedira imo. The other two are mos def Bayern rejects.

Before the money, PSG and City were an irrelevance so they really don't support your claim. The third of your three poor examples has for the past 25 years been lead by a man who takes a lot of pride in not spending a lot of money, until recently anyway.

But yeah never mind I'm sure it's just a coincidence that PSG and City are so good right now and it'll be just like in the 70's before too long.

This is basic economic theory. The same reason that the top 1% of the world has more now, percentually, than twenty years ago is the same reason there are fewer clubs at the top today than 20 years ago. And unless legislations come into play, it's an unstoppable force. This goes to show in every league (and every unregulated market) everywhere where clubs can spend freely and buy who they want. There's not a single exception to this, where capitalism just kind of turns on its head and begins to favor those with less money to make up ground.

So long as the footballing world mirrors the capitalistic market, this will continue. There won't be a top Italian team ten years from now because the league will be much further behind than it is today, like the working class will be much further behind the market average than it is today. And while the odd Leicester story will continue to happen from time to time, it's a one way street until we introduce wage caps and level the playing field.

Fair enough mate. I didn't watch the second half of Spurs/Juve but Allegri apparently changed the system and knocked out a very good Spurs side. I think that type of quality is hard to come by but I'll admit that Unai fell short and got completely owned by Zidane.
This doesn't mean that Ligue 1 isn't a decent league (or that Serie A is a better league which you didn't type but sort of implied). I never actually compared both but thought there was a distinct lack of quality in Serie A (Juve showed to lack a certain quality in a toothless goalless draw at Lazio 10 days ago).
But congrats on the win, Juve have proven that they have bottle. We certainly don't have that.
