How long would it take to get a taxi from the ground to New Street station??
Just looking at train tickets and they are pretty cheap but the only train back to Preston is at 21:57 and it would probably be pretty close..

cheers

I wouldn't personally like to be attending an evening game and needing to be back at New Street and on a train for 21:57.

At a very brisk pace you can probably do New Street in about 15/20min, that's knowing exactly where you're going and having no disturbances en route. Then New Street since the improvements is a fucking nightmare.

Edit: forget getting a taxi after a game, they won't come anywhere near the ground for a good hour or so.

Prefer the old New Street Station. Pain in the arse getting transfers since the refurb, feels like navigating your way through a jungle.

Where did you get a taxi from? The road directly outside the 'away' entrance is closed-off immediately after the match.

I was thinking along the same lines as EG, knowing they shut the road off directly heading out of the away end.

That's the plan.

Weve got southend away on a wednesday night. The train back to london leaves southend at 21.35 for us to get the 23.30 back to doncaster. So il have to leave at about 21.20. Rather do that though than go on a coach.

It's only £26 for a return to Brum which is why I've done it, can't imagine the coach will be much cheaper. Plus we'll be in Birmingham for 3.

Very very good chance. Although i do normally last it out most times on night games. Where as on a saturday afternoon theres still hours and hours of boozing and actually enjoying yourself to be done instead of being stood bored to fuck watching dreadful football.

Cheer up blademan, you've got years of misery to look forward to. I'm in my 53rd season of supporting the Boro. Would say that 50% of them have been shite, 25% average and 25% decent. Mind you I dare say you'd kill for that!

In my lifetime although before that you were wank forever you reached 3 consecutive cup finals youve won a cup, been in a uefa cup final with games along the way which dreams are made of. Even little things recently like youve won at old trafford, won at city in the cup. These things are way beyond anything i will ever see watching sheffield united. Compare all that to which in the same time weve lost 4 playoff finals,4 fa cup semi finals, 2 league cup semis and 3 other playoff campaigns and now were soon to be spending our 6th consecutive season in the 3rd tier, a division in which we had only been in for 5 years in our entire history before this. Id say im destined for a life of football misery.

You should have been born 100 years ago. You were quite good then. It's all about timing unfortunately. My old man followed the Boro all his life, died in 89 and saw fuck all decent. My son however thinks it's all cup finals and trips around Europe. I'm lucky to have seen both sides of it I suppose.
Keep your chin up, an Arab millionaire might come riding out of the desert.

Only slightly less though i suppose its been a lot more exciting over the last 25 years to watch us but ultimately it always ends in failure where as you lot get over the line when it matters albeit not all the time but at least some of it.

Best thing to do is pre-book a taxi and wait at the McDonalds car park at the bottom of the hill. It's worth familiarising yourself with New Street before heading down to the ground.. the ticket barriers at the 'A' end of the station (closest to the taxi rank) divides platforms 1-5 and 6-12.

Forest have apparently sold 1500 for our game tomorrow! That is pretty good considering the price and they have very little to play for!
Quite possibly the last away team to pay Grade A ticket prices at Town as they will be sticking with the grade B prices from next season on wards. Not that the suddenly become cheap, mind!
