How the fuck did Luton not win that?

And the answer 'because they didn't outscore the opposition' is not necessary thanks. :bg:

was the comment about celebrating like it was their cup final aimed as his own players when they scored the 2nd?

All sides are going to wildly celebrate a 97th min goal, unless it's merely a consolation one that is. Doesn't really matter whether they're playing Luton or Slough.

We got a 97th minute equaliser against Forest Green when we were top and they were bottom and celebrated it like it was the cup final. It's an odd thing to say, for sure.

Its not an odd thing to say if you're the manager of a league two club with a we're a big club so therefore I'm a big manager syndrome.

It was just such a classless statement, and he genuinely meant it as well.

It's swings and roundabouts in football, I understand they should really have won it, but got pegged back, but then they got a point at our place and barely deserved 0.

Sometimes you've just got to say... that's football.

His whole interview is funny in fairness, I've heard of sour grapes, but he must have had some of the sourest ever.

We had 9 6ft players in the box (as if that's not allowed), Cheltenham is a horrible place to play because of the slope on the pitch (first time I've heard that excuse btw, although there is an obvious slope) and Luton were 2-0 up as well. Not forgetting the fact we celebrated the 97th minute equaliser like a winner in a cup final.

I remember seeing him on The Football League show last season or the one before, and he really does strike me as someone who thinks he is so much better than League 2 and can't believe he has to slum it down here. Someone better tell him that there are players over 6ft in League One as well.

The whole tone of the interview is: step aside we are Luton.

We just celebrate every goal we score like it's the cup final, because chances are when we score one the next one won't be around until a month or so later.

He said Mansfield was a horrible place to play football too (probably not wrong) but then forgot to mention his team is probably quite easily the least desirable away trip there is in the league.

He's obviously got something about him (with how Luton are doing compared to us with a similar budget for instance) maybe he'd be best off keeping his trap shut and concentrate on the football

In his defence if that interview came straight after they had just conceded that late equaliser in a game they should have put to bed in the first half, he's not exactly gonna be a happy chap singing the praises of the opposition really is he when it is still a bit raw?

When he says x place is a horrible place to play hes talking about a direct style, that is difficult to play against, he isn't commenting on the cultural qualities of the place we happened to be in! Its compliment, (if a back handed one)

I do agree on that - but for all managers.

They should be given a 15 minute "cooling off" period after the game, whatever level you're at.

jones landed on his feet when he got this job.....
inheriting a team that wasn't too shabby and knowing that there was riches in place to
sell on and money available to buy.....
his managerial skills leave a lot to be desired....
including the etiquette needed to show after a shitty result..often brought on due to his own inadequacies
in the managerial department.....and not blaming every other tom dick and harry
he better not fuck up this train ride to promotion that our talented squad should be able to attain.....
choo fucking choo.....

Meh, not sure I agree with that really. He might come across as a bit of a nob at times (and did here at times no doubt), but to my ears that's more or less the exact opposite of what he was saying - his key message was essentially telling his players to stop expecting teams to roll over and make it easy for us! He was emphasising that we have to be clinical and then be professional and, when the need arises, be as willing as the opposition to scrap and claw our way to a result if we are to achieve what we want to this season. We didn't do any of those things on Saturday which is why we didn't win and that's what Jones was pissed off about (and rightly so as these have been recurring themes in the last season and a half and have cost us dearly far too often - hence the comment about it being "Blackpool all over again").
