Terrible game in terrible conditions by two sides who looked clueless for the most part. Eventually decided by an absolute tosspot in the middle who got the two big decision hopelessly wrong.

Corrupt ref or not, we were very poor tonight. We have some decent players technically, but a lot of bottlers when it comes to a scrap.

Poor league, no idea how we are still 5th. Wrexham, Chesterfield and Notts Co, whoever comes up will piss this league next year

I hate Steve Evans with a passion, but he would have us winning this league. He was favourite for the job before Hughes applied
Evans was only ever going to Stevenage, he engineered his way out of ours for that very reason.

He applied for our job and gave an interview to local journalists saying he was the best man for the job, he was probably right

Bradford one is a blatant penalty.

Massive clue when the player goes flying into the stands and the ball stays where it is.

Well we were crap, that said how many teams play crap and win? Most near the top from time to time, it would have been one of those times but for an awful ref. I’m aware they’re all crap at this level but that was a specialist performance even by this standard.

Well watching the replay. I take it back, ours was definitely not a penalty, it was a good tackle actually, defender touched the ball first. Not of our players appealed either.

That said, theirs was definitely not a penalty either. We were cruising even at 1-0 before that

The Bradford one is not a penalty? Infact its a great - if a little strong - tackle.
The Rochdale one, the forward gets in front of the defender, who is clumsy and makes contact, anywhere else on the pitch its a foul nowadays. It shouldn't be different in the box,..and wasn't.

I don't see the problem.

You were not cruising at all. You shaded the first half, we were still in it, which for us counts for a lot, as we are usually so inept. Little signs of recovery from us last couple of games, still not sure if we have enough to stay up though, but it’s a very much needed win.

I think the use of VAR higher up has sucked a ton of officials up there, so those who would normally be officiating NLN/NLS (or lower) are up here now.
And the VAR refs or PL refs are hardly consistent or good week on week either .

Fans and managers don’t tend to see things in a non bias /tribal way unless it’s so obvious no one can argue with it .

I am sure both managers will have very different views on the incidents too .

Tell me who kept the ball from rolling out then because it wasn’t Eisa!

We usually have pitchside footage, so we’ll seen what the reverse angle looks like.

Whatever anybody thinks of these refs, I guarantee you there is not a worse refereeing performance out there than we got away at Salford in 20/21.

The ref we got against Leyton Orient will give him a run for his money I bet.

Hope you stay up mate.

Losing too many traditional Northern clubs from the EFL such as your dear neighbours Oldham and Bury

For us now it’s becoming the frequency of these game/point changing decisions. Once, twice, three times, fair enough that’s football. 4,5,6th time of it happening you start to ask questions, more than that as we’ve had so far this season and we’re past what is acceptable. A tackle so hard it breaks a players leg? Yellow card. A penalty given for handball whereby the referee has to apologise afterwards admitting he didn’t see it, not good enough. If these sorts of decisions even out over the season expect us to win a good half dozen ridiculously soft penalties from now until May. Not to detract from how poor we were in the second half last night, but it needs pointing out the level of and how often this season (half a season), such decisions are being made.

I'm sure all other clubs besides ourselves will have had as many decisions go against them this season.

Let's not deflect on how poor we have been too many times; especially at Valley Parade this season. 5 wins in 13 at home is unacceptable

Yes I agree, but for the Swindon one as it did literally cost us the game the rest of the time things are still in our own hands and we’ve not been good enough. It’s like the Salford Northampton game on sky last week, a few bad decisions went against Northampton but they still didn’t effect the game enough themselves. Like wise with us, no shots on target second half against a terrible team says more about us than anyone else.

Got nowt to do with Bradford where we find ourselves.

And its entirely in our own hands where we end up come May.
Obviously, but we might need some help with other results

Well said sir.

I can't do links being an old git, but there's a video on the Dale messageboard that is taken from behind the goal. It shows that it was in fact a very good tackle and EEL won the ball.

I'm still very doubtful that our penalty was a foul. In fact, I wouldn't have given it.

Wonder if Firthy will be man enough to admit he is wrong?

Yeah sorry it was you!!!
Was gonna say, I only had one pint of Guiness at half time and I don't remember any of that happening!

We did have what looked like a perfectly goal ruled out for offside though.

Wrexham won't piss it with Parkinson in charge. Some of the most one dimensional football around right now. Anyone with a backbone or a bit of technical merit causes them problems. They'll mince the crap teams with ease though. I don't see any of those three you've mentioned being significantly better than ourselves or Stockport this season.
