Ben Whiteman. Soz.

Not surprised it kicked off, Considering u'kno it involved Grimsby and Mansfield!!!
Don't know who that is but I do know I wouldn't trade him for Osborne nor would I for any of your players. The lad is taking the absolute piss out of this league and he's barely been here a month.

Especially as it was in the Main stand which is full of OAPs or families.
The usually placid Main Stand are absolutely savage when they get the hump with someone! I don’t often go in there, but I remember being in there in 98 when we played Fulham in the playoffs and the amount of shit Kevin Keegan got was insane. Was also in there when Peterborough came with Darren Ferguson in charge and he didn't even do anything but they decided he was scum for some reason.

Check his record since he's been here, he's not a striker either.

Think I'd stick with this from now on. I'd maybe chop and change a bit with Clements and Bolarinwa for Disley/Comley/Vose and Dyson for Asante/Yussuff but I think that this bunch shows the greatest amount of promise. Gunning for Maxwell is a possibility, though we've hardly seen him play.

Edit: that team shape above formatted horrifically.

Thought Tom Bolarinwa deserved a special mention after all the criticism he's had over the last few weeks.

I thought he was superb yesterday and came close to pushing Jamey Osbourne for MOTM. He's shown now what hes capable of so hopefully he can keep up a similar standard of performance for the rest of the season, Sam Jones impressed me too and Luke Maxwell showed a couple of decent touches when he came on and looks one big unit.

Very disappointed with Mansfield yesterday, expected far more from them.

So did we tbh.

To their credit, we've came on leaps and bounds this season so far, and it's our first loss since Boxing Day. We've gone from 17th to 7th (though in a poor league) and the quality - especially in midfield - is well above what we've had at the beginning of the season.

Yesterday was a total surprise, a real blip. That we've had a blip of 1 point in 6 and still in the playoffs is very fortunate.

I'm loathed to say it from experience now, but the general aim of the club is pretty much "if we don't go up this season, we'll go for the title next season". A bit like radford that season in the conference when he said "we'd smash the league" as a fan you feel excited there's genuine ambition, but also a tad queasy that your putting your head above the parapet to be shot at.

Games are actually entertaining, you look forward to going to a home game. It's a complete different mindset to what we've experienced of late.

I think it was a mixture of poor performances from the manager and players quite frankly, tactically we set up like a Sunday league side. Good news is it's the first time we have lost all year, and If Taft and Howkins are fit next Saturday I'd chuck 'em both in.

Felt sorry for Green too, finally got to start but the formation left him isolated.

Newport next Saturday is vital now, it's all about how we react.

For what it's worth I thought Mansfield looked very good in the first half hour or so, going forward anyway. Good movement and passing with a purpose. Matt Green at times showed why he was considered to be nearly as good as Liam Hearn too. If you managed to score first it would've been a different game entirely.

For us it seems we've swapped our good away form for our shit home form. Hopefully we can find a solid medium.

Haha!

Brought back some memories that did, everybody in the old TFF non-league section trying to convince Mansfield fans Hearn was better than Green!
I think if Green played for anybody else that opinion would of been less popular, but at least time has proved who the better player is!

I didn't think we looked good at all, to be honest. Grimsby were clearly the better side but according to one of your players (Pearson?) that was the best you have performed at home all season. I didn't think you were exceptional or anything like that.

If Liam never suffered his injuries I think time would tell a different story but it's all ifs and buts now, we'll never know! Both far too good for that level regardless.

I'm not sure it was our best home performance, one of them no doubt. Stevenage game probably beats it although we defended horrendously for their goals so I can see why a defender wouldn't be happy with that one. We've been average at best at home over the season anyway so a win like this is a nice confidence booster.

It was a performance from Grimsby of had we played like we did at Cambridge and Barnet we'd have probably won. As it is we didn't and were soundly beaten.

Enjoyed the day before the game though, shame that idiots on both sides mean if we're in the same league next season (which it's fair to say we will it'll be kicking off early).

Any Grimsby or Mansfield fans thought about the potential of that - Mansfield, Grimsby and Notts county don't go up or down, we gain Chesterfield from league 1 and Lincoln from the conference - could be a nice little setup there.

To be fair Green missed a entire season injured before coming back to Mansfield and he's still proved to be a decent league striker.

Like I said it's a big win for Grimsby considering our recent run and it keeps it interesting for you.

I thought it was a very average looking team beating a very poor looking team. A poor advert for a decent crowd. The sort of performance from us that would have had the usual suspects going to town on the likes of Adam Murray and Paul Cox and their managerial abilities.

There's no way that this Stags team is anywhere near good enough for promotion. We've had a good month and fans have got carried away on the drunkenness of winning a few games on the bounce - a very unMansfield trait.

We'll have a good season next season, when Evans can bring in proper signings and not a collection of loanees, some of which are no better than what we already have in the ranks. But until then we're in a battle to get in those play offs, along with half of the division, who are all very much of a muchness.

If Carlisle/Pompey/Luton don't take third place and the play off then they don't deserve to ever go up from this bang average division.

What is Steve Evans on anyway. Just listened to his post-match interview on Mansfield's OS and he reckons they should have been 3-1 up rather than 1-0 down at the time. I can't say I remember them have 3 clear cut chances in the whole game!

There wasn't 1.

Green had a header, but I'd have saved that on my way home after a night out.

Was that the "camera shot" save by McKeown in the 2nd half?

From behind the goal of the away end it was almost impossible to know whether the chances at the other end of the field were decent or not. We certainly shaded the first half, but Grimsby were easily the better side over the ninety.

If Stags had scored first, I think we would have won easily. Goals change games and that first Grimsby goal was very sloppy from a Stags point of view.

2-0 to a free flowing, attack minded Grimsby Town team: thus pushing us upwards towards the Play-Offs. We always make the Play-Offs, or have done for the last 10 years or so. We play at Wembley every season too. That's how huge we have become.

Didn't expects us to get a third.

Somebody on Stagsnet said Steve Evans had to 'run for his life' in the stand from Grimsby fans, now that is something I wanna see
It goes something like this.

To be fair the incident is described in the Stagsnet report and it's a bit shocking he was left alone in the stand with the local smack rats.

As someone else said I'm not sure why managers are allowed in the stands when sent off anyway, players have to go to the dressig room, why don't managers?

Some managers choose to sit in the stand as well. They can still influence the bench and game from the stand, not so easy from the dressing room.

As for the local idiots, if he hadn't have said something to them he wouldn't have got chased, should have just sat down and shut up, but then if he did that he wouldn't have even got sent off in the first place.

He went to the area where all the media sit though?

What is your point? Some Grimsby fans were trying to get to him, so he had to go to the changing room to get away from them, it was witnessed by loads.

Steve Evans has a big mouth but even if he did say something nothing justifys it. Let's face it this was stirred up by the local media in the first place, neither side are innocent and both are to blame.

Saturday was a bad advert for Football.

The local press at Grimsby were whipping it up like it was some cup final for them (I know it obviously wasn't) the read was embarrassing.

Either way, it won't be a 3 KO next season, that's for sure

We will be in different divisions next season: one of us is going up. I'll let you decide which team.
