The boy has everything can pass, tackle, win it in the air, box to box also has paper knees that's my only concern if he is over that. He will destroy this league

Hopefully he's in the same bracket of signing as Higdon and Taylor-Fletcher.
More in the same bracket as the two Andy's Cook and Mangan.

While I'd like Wallace to be at the same level as the player we had 4 years ago the doubts are considerable. I'm not getting too excited just yet.

He can't do anything from the physio's treatment table... I'm certainly not as BULLISH as some about this one!

If Wallace is so good, then why is he going to be playing in the dreadful National League?

Jesus, it seems apart from Pablosammy, every Tranmere fan seems to be trying to outdo the last on what level the lad is...started as best in League One, then Championship standard, then Prem standard. Come on lads, he's not getting games for mid-table League One Sheff United and has been loaned out to a club in the National League for gawd's sake.

This collective Tranmere hardon for the lad is going to be hilarious when he limps off after 15 minutes into his first game.

I heard he's competing with Jack Wilshere for a place in the England team.
Any advance?

From wiki:

"he was sidelined later that year with a double hernia problem that subsequently kept him out of action until 2010"

"Wallace only made one further appearance for Shrewsbury, but despite only playing three times for the club in the space of two months due to the three-match suspension and injury problems..."

"To date, Wallace's time at the Blades has been blighted by injuries which have hampered his spell at the club."

"He was sidelined for a lengthy period after picking up a knee injury in a league match against Southend United the following month"

Looks promising lads :2thumb:

He sounds like league one James Wesolowski that we signed with a history of injury. Played against Gateshead on the Tuesday he signed, travelled on the coach to Aldershot on the Saturday but 'felt something' after the journey down and hasn't been seen since!

Yeah, we were looking at him in pre-season and I read through his wiki and thought 'no way should we be signing someone with that track record'. I think I made a similar comment when you signed him but cba to trawl through. It's a shame when players struggle so much with injuries and I think for a lot it becomes a psychological barrier (Liam Hearn being one example) meaning every time they feel the slightest twinge they just limp off, or they play within themselves to avoid being injured again.

There are two aspects to James Wallace.
The first is his ability on a football pitch, which is unquestionable. I believe he went to Stockport on loan (when they were L1's whipping boys) and was captain at 17. A 17 year old loanee as captain in the middle of a relegation battle! He came to us on loan and then signed permanently purely because of his injury record from his time in the Everton youth setup. It's no overstatement to say he can literally do it all - he was the best player in L1 4 years ago and, even with his injuries, played 60 times for us and got a move to Sheffield United.

However the second aspect is his injury record - it's atrocious. He's been incredibly unlucky but if he can't get on the field he can't put his talent to use. He's apparently one of Sheff Utd's highest earners (and trust me, FGR and Eastleigh combined would probably baulk at what he's rumoured to be on per week) and the reason he's coming to this level is two fold:
1) He's just back from another injury and has high wages, meaning nobody appears willing to take that financial hit if it goes wrong.
2) The transfer window is closed - he can't prove his fitness on loan anywhere above the National League until January, so we're as good as it gets for him at this time.

I have said this on our own forum and it wasn't too popular there but this is a massive gamble and I'm of the belief it will go wrong when he gets injured again. However, if by some miracle he is actually fit this time, then my fellow Rovers fans are not spouting hyperbole - he's the best player in this league by a mile, the league above by a fair distance and right amongst the best in L1. Max Power is playing in the 2nd tier and Wallace is a significantly better player than Max when fit.

He's apparently fit for Gateshead so we'll soon see if my fears are misplaced...

I expect there'll be something about him "loving the club" and "wouldn't drop down to this league for any other team" as the reason.

You can stick all your ex-premier league wunderkids. We've just signed a lad called Rekeil Pyke on loan from Huddersfield for a month .

Into the squad for Lincoln tonight.

Very strange signing at Macc in 36 year old Richie Wellens. No idea why we've done this unless Askey has seen Mitch Hancox working well in a deep lying midfield role and decided he wants a natural DM to do it better. Don't see the point in it myself.
