I was worried about chesterfield when Allen joined. I thought they would be right up there.

However, Agent Allen is once again signing our worst players.

I wanted to get rid of both them. Weston is a good battler and will work hard but he's so poor on the ball. Can't pass five yards. Nelson is slow and past it.

We can definitely get better. Hopefully still sorts it out.

Weston does a job for Allen and that's moving the ball forward quickly. If you are looking to hold onto the ball and control a game then he's not your man.

I'm a bit mixed about him going. Can hit the odd purple patch of scoring but I think we will be ok without him.

That pretty much sums it up for me. I wouldn't have been keeping him, so not disappointed that he's gone, but he can do a solid job. A team going for promotion should be looking at better though.

I'd put money on Akpa Akpro being next. Allen taking all our "decent, but we don't need him" players. Nobody key gone there yet.

Anderson’s a left sided centre-back. Did reasonably well for us there before being shifted to left back where he could easily be caught out. Bottom half player although he’s relatively neat on the ball.

I wasn’t fussed about trying to keep him even in the Conference North though to be honest.

We’ve developed a wonderful habit in non league of finding new depths to plumb so it wouldn’t surprise me if this guy is even worse than them. Give him a chance I will but on the face of it, if this is the calibre of player we’re looking at, there doesn’t appear much to look forward to next season.

He surely can’t be any worse than the two clowns we had at central defence last season, not exactly a signing that has you doing cartwheels but we were all buzzing about signing Munns and Donaldson and look how they turned out.

What’s happened with Donaldson? He was an excellent player for Gateshead and Cambridge. We also came close to signing him a few years ago. Something tells me poor coaching has been a factor, seeing as you thought Deverdics (who has no pace) would do a job at left back.

Always injured (apparently) but just hasn't seemed remotely arsed when he has played. He went through the motions here as a youngster when he came on loan from the Toon and is doing the same again. Our coaching has been notoriously bad probably since we sacked Mick Wadsworth when we were mid table L1 in 2012 or 2013. There's not been a single player that's improved as time's gone on. That's probably not helped, the way the club has been run would hardly motivate you to do your job either. But I never feel his heart is in it and he's one of our biggest earners so free to leave as far as I'm concerned.

1. The missus walked past as I was watching his interview on Pools World and said 'oh he's lush' Have we signed him only to boost female season ticket numbers? I'm not overly worried though. Fortunately, I'm still much better looking...by a mile (see what I did there? ho ho ho)

2. He started speaking Italian in his interview but we won't talk about the look on my beloved other half's face while he was doing that.

3. His dad is an agent, knows Mark Maguire and fucked up Blackburn in partnership with the Venky's.

I hope Pools aren't playing silly buggers again and my marriage stays intact.
