Yeah I’m almost certain in saying Scott Burgess will be joining you sooner than later. JA absolutely loves him as a player. Wouldn’t surprise me if Adam Crookes (plays either LB or CB and is solid enough defensively) and/or David Amoo join you also. In Amoo’s case we just released him but as with Hurst he just doesn’t fit our formation. Lost a bit of pace but can still be a game-changer at L2 level.

Absolutely believe he will be going for promotion. Had a far worse situation at Macc and won the league with the tiniest of budgets. No way York will be just making up the numbers under him.
Crookes could be a good shout just found out yesterday our left back Scott Barrow suffered a Knee cruciate tear in play off final and out for a year.
Barrow is out of contract but club have offered him a year deal to help him through,a lot of times club gets things wrong but this is fantastic.

Looks like both Crookes and Burgess now confirmed to have signed for you. Not surprised in the least. Askey loves both of them especially Burgess.

Expect they’ll do well for you though. Personally I think Crookes best spot is LCB which is where his best work came at Vale but Askey is largely a 4-3-3 guy. Solid player though. Burgess you’ll know about from when he was on loan. He thrived under Askeys system at Vale.

They’ll be signing Theo Robinson next!

Liked Burgess wasn’t a big fan of Crookes.

After his experience with him the only two less likely would be McKirdy and Pope. Now David Amoo on the other hand I can definitely see and think he’d be deadly back under Askey again.

I think some were very harsh on Crookes. Been far worse players than him and let’s not forget he’s still young. Not the most dynamic with the ball but always decent defensively. Sproson being his agent was the bigger issue with some of the agendas he used to push on comms on Radio Stoke.

Burgess was very good for us last time but wouldn’t drop to that level.
winger is meant to be signing tomorrow so maybe Amoo.
Think we might be Port Vale B team next year.

Askey seems to be building a good squad and believe we will surprise a lot of teams next season.
Ryan Fallowfield signed yesterday played 35 games for Harrogate in league last season.

If you get Burgess of 2019/20 you’ll have a great player. Covid mugged us of the play offs and he was outstanding with Jake Taylor in the middle.

He just never came back for us after the Covid hiatus the same player.

Be a cracking signing if you get him. It hasn’t gone unnoticed among Vale fans so there’ll probably be even more interest among our fans than there already was how York get on with JA. Already becoming known as York Vale as we were Macclesvale for a period under him.

The encouraging thing for York is it looks like a lot of the signings are coming from higher up or were promotion winners last time out so even if some are his former players they should all have the right pedigree for the level. Said on another thread I fancy you for the playoffs, topping Wrexham will be too much for anyone but playoffs is a very reasonable hope.

York signed
Gus Matufa from Boreham wood
Fraser Kerr from Chesterfield
AJ Greaves from Doncaster
Ethan Ross season loan from Stockport yesterday looks like squad is nearly done.

AJ looked good last season till he broke his leg.

Mafuta is a good signing, Kerr is a walking disaster.
Mafuta needs to be because we have lost Akil Wright to Stockport who played that position,he is best outfield player we have had since Ferguson signed for you.
Don’t see Kerr getting in ahead of Sanders and koughan anyway.

Mafuta is the enforcer type, tough tackling but neat on the ball too.

Jordan Tunnicliffe signs for Wrexham.

Good centre back. Injury plagued season last year but nearly ever present previously.

Stockport County.
Yeah ZFA came in as cover on loan for us in our run in last year, didnt' get a kick until the final two games, obviously both very important. He didn't put a foot wrong and was impressive. I'd have had him back here as back up LCB/LWB in League Two tbh.

Oldham will be fine this year, a push for the play-offs not beyond possibility at all.

Like other Oldham fans, I will hopefully be back to posting here now the current owners are on the way out, and we have a club worth supporting again.

Can tell the difference already in no longer having the owner's brother in charge of signing players, all the new additions seem pretty sensible/decent for the position we find ourselves in. :2thumb:

Surprised when our Sacked Manager shipped him out to yous
When we had one of the worst defences in the league.

7 in so far, more to come and great news regarding new owners.

Liam Hogan
Chris Porter
Luke Burgess
Nathan Sheron
Jordan Windass
Magnus Norman
Zaine Francis-Angol

Luke Burgess should be a good signing for you. When he was here he was a very scrawny kid but had some good games - looked a more complete attacking midfielder whenever we've faced Salford since then.
