Well done, Lew.

Mendy's joined Whitehawk, DSY was never ours to go to FGR - he was on loan from Cambridge and Kabba left back in December/January so probably not applicable.

Thought we signed DSY on a permanent deal from Cambridge and took his contract deal til the end of the season?

I don't think Parslow is what you want if you're chasing promotion, solid and versitile enough though. Ironically his best performance was at Wembley for us, for some reason Hurst spent most of the season bringing him on in central midfield to 'see the game out' only problem was he wasn't actually any good at it.

Right back is where he's best.

He's going to be a back up behind Downes and the loanee centre-back that we've got coming in (allegedly Rob Dickie from Reading, though how much truth there is to that I don't know).

Brillant Lew!

Looking at that I think Bromley have made some very good signings and by the same Token I think Alty may struggle and look too reliant on Damian Reeves.

BTW Michael Rankine is mentioned twice in the Gateshead OUT column.

Isn't eastleigh basically in France anyway? Sure you have more important things like signing the best player to grace this level turns out he was a syrian you picked up on a pre season friendly to calais! Weapon!

No mate, you are thinking of Dover.

Striker Johnny margetts has signed a one year deal. Been on trial all pre season scoring 5 goals so no surprise he's signed on. Think he scored a few for Gainsborough in the league below last season.

Decent competition up front now with Mangan, Norwood, Margetts, and Stockton.

Margetts has scored 2 tonight against Everton`s under 21 team in a 3-1 win. But the star of the show was another so far unnamed trialist who looks pretty certain to be offered a deal in the next few days. Watch this space !!

Certainly looked like him from the pictures going round. Margetts has been unreal in pre-season. He only has about 3 hours playing time and he's scored 7 goals. Not hyping him up too much based on pre-season but I'm really happy we've taken the gamble - I'd sign both Cameron and Mekki too based on their displays, but definitely Cameron.

Given a professional contract to one of our youth players Sam Hughes (18) today, who's looked damn impressive in pre-season scoring twice from the middle of midfield.

Looks a good one.

Margetts should do the business for Tranmere and certainly worth the gamble. I was hoping we'd have a sniff at him seen as we need another striker.

Trinity were very impressed with him and did well for them.

There is a difference between using a trialist's scoring record as a reason to be happy he has signed a contract and using a team's results as the basis of predicting said team will be champions. Now, if I'd said 'Margetts is going to smash 25 goals this season' or 'We've got the best strike force in the league', then your response would be appropriate. :bg:

Ahh so for you to be crowing about him so much, i guess that the teams Margetts scored his goals against were all trying their very hardest to stop him, straining every ounce of energy not to let him score, but he was just too good. But the 8 teams we have beaten just couldn't give a fuck, and let our forwards go through willy nilly to do what the fuck they wanted?
Pleased i cleared that up as i was starting to get confused. :bg: :bg:

Oh and secondly, nobody has said that we are gonna win the league based purely on pre-season results.
If anyone had said 'we are gonna piss this tinpot league after winning 8 on the bounce' , then your response would be appropriate. :bg: :bg:

We've announced the signing of a second goalkeeper Dean Snedker, he's been on trial with us and has played with us in most friendlies, he's looked good for us so i'm pleased with the signing, he'll give a good challenge to Palmer for the No 1 spot.

We have signed Fabien Spiess after a trial. Saw him for the first time on tuesday night but he didn't really have a lot to do. However, if memory serves, he was the keeper that Rovers had down here last year and he completely screwed up for our goal.

That's the two keepers sorted, now we're lacking in the midfield/attacking areas.

He was on trial for us v Notts County but looked suspect at cross. A good shot stopper though going off the opinion of Notts County fans.

Danny Whitehead now signed up; has looked good in pre-season and very comfortable on the ball, so pretty happy with that. Gives us more depth in midfield which will especially useful as Whitaker will probably be playing less minutes/games this season compared to last.

However hope there's still money left for another defender as Diagne has looked like on the edge of disaster at times, and another option upfront as we've seriously struggled to even look like scoring.

Takes us to a squad of 17 (though one of them, worryingly, is Efe Sodje...)

Out:
James Norwood (Free – Tranmere Rovers), Sam Russell (Free – Gateshead), Scott Bevan (Free – Chippenham Town), James Marwood (Free – Gateshead), Luke Oliver (Free – Aldershot Town), Anthony Barry (Free – Accrington Stanley), Kieron Forbes (Released), Chris Stokes (Released), Stuart Fleetwood (Free – Sutton United)

One small correction, Stokes has signed for Coventry.

Very good job btw, thanks for making the effort.

Have you heard anything about where Kieron Forbes has ended up? Surprised he hasn't got a club yet TBH.

I see Southport have signed Josh Thompson, good signing for them if they can keep him injury free.
I thought he was one of Tranmere's better defensive performers last season!

Happy with this, should fit well into the system. Very much in the Danny Whitaker style of player.

Still need a #2 keeper and another forward at the very minimum, but totally agree another centre half/left back if possible to keep Diagne away from the match day squad!

Rhys Browne signs for us following 2 successful games on trial. From what I have seen I think this could be an excellent signing for us!

Excellent signing and with Whitehead, Turnbull, Whitaker and Lewis competing in central midfield it must be the strongest midfield we've had since we were relegated.

I think we'll be fine for goals but need another presence upfront in case Sampson is injured (which looks likely) but most importantly require another centre back as cover for Pilkington and Byrne because Diagne doesn't look the same player he was a few years ago.
