All but promoted tonight with a comfy home victory over Bolton in the monday night football. Been a pleasure to watch all season, most goals in the league, one of the more fluent teams too watch. Money is definetely there, but considering 6 years ago this weekend they were fighting relegation to the conference, it's quite some achievement.

Well done!

Congrats Bournemouth, can't believe we've gone from the number 1 team on the south coast to the number 4.

Eddie Howe has done a great job, when he went back they were something like 17th in League One.

Congratulations Bournemouth! Fully deserved too. Great to see another club have a chance at the Premier League and a well run one at that. I wish they nothing but the best.

Already said it many times in the Match Thread, but fair play - some achievement.

Congratulations to all involved.

Still bitter about nicking Ritchie off of us for pittance but joking a side well done and enjoy it.

Fully merited - been at the top all season.

Wonder what the odds were on a top 2 of us and Bournemouth?

At least you got a fee, we released him. (I think).

Totally deserved, they've been ruthless every time I've watched them play - good entertainment too!

Howe's going to go ape next year when he's not getting penalties away at Old Trafford, Anfield etc... :shifty:

Congrats to Bournemouth. Hard to believe the turnaround in fortunes over the past couple of years.

Will be interesting to see if they spend big or not. They should really be looking at a team like Swansea on how to build an established premier league team after moving through the divisions.

People used to use us as an example of this :bang:

Granted, we hadn't moved through the divisions.

That aside, well done Bournemouth, going to give the Football League a real headache next season when they select our first opponents of the season!

I know it's never ever ever going to happen, but can you imagine if Bournemouth did lose 19-0. Everybody would be jumping on board the ROFLCOPTER after that one.

That would probably happen and Middlesbrough would go and lose their last game.

I don't begrudge Bournemouth their tilt at the Premier League in any way, but I don't think you can make much of a case for them being a well run club.

It's only a year ago that they reported losses of £15.3million following promotion from League 1 following a £3.4million loss the season before.

Yep, we had a hugely turbulent year at that point as the club changed hands, it was a scary set of accounts. We had to pay off various contracts for the old regime, built new facilities, hired a ton of backroom staff and built a youth system from nothing, and of course purchased probably £1m on players. At that point we were pretty worried about the sustainability of it all.

As the link suggests, we had to half that loss for last year (which we did no problem) and passed the FFP regs. Most reassuringly those loans have been converted to share equity which makes our position slightly more sound.Significant player sale windfalls have helped too.

The club couldn't do all this on it's "natural" income of course, making no bones about that.

The reported £5.75million sell on fee from Adam Lallana's move to Liverpool would certainly have helped greatly this season and of course you're now guaranteed over £100million for reaching the Premiership.

So, all things being equal, the club should now be able to balance the books and wipe the debts even if you immediately return to The Championship as long as the club is run properly next season and doesn't throw huge amounts at it.

Yes. Massively hope for this.

Aye the rags to riches story is brilliant, whilst forgetting that the club twice went into admin.

Fair play to them now though, and the hardcore fans who backed them in the dark days, the new hangers on can fuck off though.

I think we've shown this year that you can be sensible with finances and still have a good go at staying in the league.

Whilst we're probably going to end up being relegated, we've put up much more of a fight than a lot of people thought we would given how much [or how little] we spent on players after promotion.

If anything, we could probably have afforded to be a little bit more adventurous in our transfer policy, although I'd prefer us to be overly responsible than irresponsible.

I'm really hoping Bournemouth can stay up next year. Big fan of Eddie Howe; things might not have quite worked out for him with us, but he's clearly incredibly talented and deserves the praise he's receiving.

No words at all. Absolutely unbelievable. Not going along the 'proper fan' route, but I've been going since I was 3, mainly due to my grandad wanting to influence my football team over my uncles who were all top team supporters.
I've been there thought thick and thin, the highs, lows and lowers. There is no way 6 years ago when I stood in the Deva Stadium knowing a defeat could potentially start the winding down of our club, did I think that the PL was even possible. I'm just getting my head round us being in the championship. This is absolutely worth it. Still in shock today.

Massive well done. Proper fairy tale story especially with Howe taking you all the way (minus a quick fling with Burnley).

Really chuffed for you.

Never thought I'd see Manchester United v Bournemouth as a Premier League fixture.

I remember that day well, I don't think either sets of fans would have envisaged the journey that both clubs would embark following that season. Congratulations, hope you cause a few upsets against the big boys.
