Anyone else's ownership been as negligent as ours?

Out of contract in the summer.
Our Best players: Ben Pearson, Ben Davies, Alan Browne, Daniel Johnson & Darnell Fisher
Other Shit: Billy Bodin, David Nugent, Josh Ginnelly, Graham Burke & Louis Moult (Moult is actually alright but perma-injured)
Others: Paul Huntington likely to sign a one year extension, while I imagine this is Paul Gallagher's final year.

We're in serious trouble next season if there isn't a plan in place and some excellent recruitment is done, which I doubt considering we're letting around £35m-£40m worth of talent leave for free, or a pittance in January.

Not sure about the whole squad but am pretty sure some key players like Collins and Pelly are out of contract at the end of the season for us. Kenny is normally pretty up to speed with that stuff for us.

More broadly, it must be really tough for everyone at the moment to plan out anything beyond the next couple of months or so given the pandemic and other issues like Brexit around the corner. Then add in to the mix things like Salary caps being mooted im not surprised that some clubs and indeed players might be a bit reticent to commit to anything longer term as its not clear whether that will end up being a net benefit to either parties.

Probably quite a few thinking get through the winter and see what everything looks like in the spring time before making key decisions.

Probably, any out of contract player who will have interested parties would be stupid not to see what is on offer.

Supposedly our latest offers have broken our strict wage cap so not sure if I can have a go at the club too much.

Only issue is DJ has been linked to Rangers & Ben Davies to Celtic & the Bundesliga, so they can sign pre-contracts in January.

My understanding is that a big chunk of our squad are out of contract next summer, but the club haven't announced contract lengths of extensions or signings in the last 18 months, so some of this is fairly speculative:

James Shea, Martin Crainie, Dan Potts, Ryan Tunnicliffe, Sonny Bradley, Matty Pearson, Andrew Shinnie, George Moncur, Pelly-Ruddock Mpanzu, Peter Kioso, Brendan Galloway, Harry Isted.

If we don't hit our expectations at year end or worse get relegated, I'd expect the club would take the opportunity to overhaul the squad a little bit.

James Collins got a deal that his contract would be extended by a year for every promotion. He is pretty much in year 4 of a 5 year contract.

Of important players, I think the only two out of contract in the summer are Tettey and Vrancic. Tettey's been a great servant to the club for 8 years, but he's getting on now and doesn't have anything close to the mobility he had in the past. Still a good player at this level, but it's time for us to move on from relying on him in that CDM position. As for Vrancic, he's valuable at this level but is the wrong side of 30 now (31, I believe) and proved last season that he's too lightweight and immobile for the Premier League. So, if we go up again I'm not hugely fussed about either moving on.

Beyond that, I'm not entirely sure of most players' contract situation, but I believe Cantwell only has 18 months left on his contract and he's been reluctant to sign a new one. Probably means we won't have as much bargaining power to work with if clubs come in for him again in January or in the summer. Most of our other important players are on long-term contracts at least, but that's awkward in a few cases (I think Drmic is still contracted until 2022, for example).

This is why we end up selling all our best players. We could hold onto them all for another 1-2 years each but then either lose out on a fee entirely or at least see that fee severely reduced.

Supposedly offered Daniel Johnson a club record contract, although i thought we'd done that already.

A few of the ITK guys think Browne is open to staying too.

Davies is definitely off at the end of the season, he just wants a career change more than anything and I think Ben Pearson could go this window.

Alex Mowatt only one of ours out of contract in summer, hoping he signs a new one but we’ve a ready made replacement in Herbie Kane if he decides to leave.

Seems things are looking more positive about Daniel Johnson extending.

Rangers the only serious interest and their offer isn't too dissimilar to ours.

Seems like you are navigating that tricky situation you have outlined quite well so far.
Promising signs anyway.

If we could get 2 of the top 4 to re-sign, on top of a good midfield signing like Whiteman, then we've far surpassed my expectations this year. Maybe Covid has helped us a bit here, lots of clubs are feeling the pinch, whereas we're pushing the boat out, in terms of record breaking contracts and nearly £3m spent on Riis & Whiteman.

Do most clubs publish the lengths of contracts for new signings? I seem to see them regularly, but ever since re-joining the championship we have stopped doing it - in fact only the length of Sluga's 3 year contract has been announced. I understand the reluctance to announce any fee paid, but why does the length of contract have be top secret? Players know, clubs know, agents know and share, therefore other clubs know. Just us mugs kept in the dark.
Rant over.

This is very true - “marginal gains”. It’s only the fans that don’t know. I suppose the argument is that you don’t hear from your average man on the street what his own contract situation is.

I guess anything that makes it slightly harder for other clubs to find out the details of a contract they think is worth it.

And ultimately if you don’t NEED to reveal information, why would you.

But part of my point was that other clubs DO know. Having sat in on a meeting between agents in the past, I know for a fact that agents and scouts, talk amongst themselves, and to clubs.
A quick look at various club sites is enough to see that most clubs do announce the lengths, I just don't understand why we stopped doing so when we reached the championship - we did it before, why the change?

Yeah I think it’s weird too just trying to rationalise a reason why.

It does make it slightly harder for other clubs to find out the information even if eventually they can, it’s just a bit harder than a google search now. Marginal gain maybe. That’s the only thing I could think of.

And like I said, if you don’t have to disclose something why would you, I’m always slightly surprised how forthcoming teams are with injury news as well for instance.
