So another clash with our old Conference rivals and maybe just maybe a chance for Cooper to finally put one over the Cowleys after losing 5 out of 5. Unusually it's Cowley looking a bit rattled in the pre-match build up as he's apparently starting to get a bit of stick from the more deluded plastic Imps. Seems a good time to play them but tbh we don't normally match up well and our home form and pitch are pretty shite so I'm not massively confident. We do need something quite badly though as another loss would mean us slipping down into midtable. Hopefully Doidgey's visit to the chiropractor this week will get him fully fit and firing, he's looked a bit happier with more support around him these last 2 games with Williams and Mondal playing off him. Grubb being back should give us something a bit different as well.

Seems strange that a team built to pass the ball around has to do so, at home, on a pitch better suited to growing potatoes.

We may well produce some shite on it, but I’d say our pitch is the best in the league.

Yeah your pitch puts ours to shame. Not sure what's gone wrong last few seasons it's been decent not been too bad a winter but it's bloody awful which is the last thing we need given our tiki taka style. Not much we can do about it now, just gotta adapt I suppose. Lincoln will enjoy it.

Anderson's back for us after suspension, which is good news. Frecklington's been taken out the squad for a month or so to sort a niggling groin issue out, which is the correct call because he's been off it for a few weeks now.

We'll probably go 4-3-3 and get an extra man in midfield, although if FGR's pitch isn't great then we might risk with going 4-2-3-1 and get more in and around Akinde.

We're good on the road, they're our kinda games. At home, the emphasis is on us more to break teams down, which isn't our forte. Away from home there are far more opportunities to counter and with Akinde, Andrade, Anderson, Rowe, McCartan etc, that plays into our hands.

Strangely, its crab football across the back 4 that seems to be upsetting a few at Sincil Bank. Maybe your potato patch won't suit us!
Hopefully the return of Anderson will see us play with a bit more intent than of late, and the might just swing it in our favour. Although, 1 each would be the most likely outcome. Given our recent run of draws, I imagine the bookies have the 1-1 draw at even money.

Sad I'm not going tomorrow because I absolutely love this fixture, clear that the players and management of both clubs absolutely loathe each other. Fantastic.

Sure? To much squad movement for the players to be overly arsed IMO.

Loathe is perhaps a too strong word.
Yes both teams [staff & fans] want best result against other. But loathe I'd say no.
Besides recently Danny C happily watched the FGR v Mansfield match at TNL, sitting amongst the FGR faithful.
Where the bad feeling has arisen from FGR's perspective started a couple years ago when Rhead goaded the FGR away supporters after Lincoln scored a dodgy goal. He should have been booked for his disgraceful behaviour but got away with it.

The pitch at TNL is bad but FGR did win last match on it 3-0.

And as was pointed out to you last time, it wasn't Rhead. It was Angol. Nor was it a foul.

We all had the exact same conversation in the previous match thread back in November!

I must admit getting Matt thread and lee Angol mixed up is quite an effort

He's probably made 3 sub appearances, culminating in 30 minutes.

I think we've gone for this season, we've been brilliant until recently but we've reached that point where we have not trained on, (in horse racing speak). Recruitment during the transfer window has not had the positive effect required to move us forward. Probably spent too much in close season. Expectations are low for this, but in football a surprise is always possible, and just when you think you know best.

I can't say I've ever felt any real rivalry with Lincoln, they were the better team in our promotion season, and have continued to hold the advantage over us, but considering everything we can't feel too disappointed. This is a tough league for us, but to be honest I'd hoped Cooper was of the calibre that he might have found something that would negate our falling off the pace. He's still learning and will take his time I guess.

As always I retain the right to be dissatisfied, misserable and ungrateful. So losing today although expected will leave me wondering what has actually gone wrong with a talented decent squad.

Got the early goal off a deflected free kick (while my commentary was dead) then decided no need to mark Akinde which doesn't seem like much of a plan.

Giving the ball away far too often, partly down to good Lincoln play but partly down to us wobbling about. Still, had a few decent shots ourselves.

Akinde pen but it was stonewall by the sound of it. Only joy for me was reading the Imps match thread on their forum and seeing people moan about us delaying them taking it due to an injury.

Even sent toothless Monty the goalie up for a corner at the end. Second best so fair dos, though annoyingly improved second half and bar the blatant pen probably restricted Lincoln far better.

Good win, that. Sounded deserved as well with the FGR 'keeper pulling off a handful of good saves.

Didn't realise how poor FGR home record was at home, though (16th before KO). Throw in us being top of the away table and it was a little surprising they started the day as favourites with the bookies.

Lincoln deserved it no doubt but fuck me the amount of shithousery that comes from them is a disgrace. Ref Andy Davies was the weakest piece of shite I've seen all season, ignored everything including a blatant stamp on Doidge in the 1st minute by Shakell, the filthy twat. 0 bookings is an utter joke, a decent ref and it would have been 8 yellows and at least 1 red and at least one of the Cowleys sent to the stands for their constant haranguing of the officials. The c*** never stop or stay inside their technical area for that matter, but get away with it all the bloody time. And if Nicky Cowley ever goads our fans like that again I swear I'll run on and lamp the fucker, just celebrate with your own fans you cretin. And that fat fuck Rhead can fuck off as well the cheating bastard can't challenge without blatant pushes in the back sly elbows etc. Wouldn't mind him here though tbf quality player.

Anyway congrats Lincoln, quality side but you would be without all the gamesmanship and shithousery anyway so why do it?

Up against Lincoln we're a bunch of lightweights, men against boys.
