A good quote on the live feed on The Guardian :

' There’s that old quote from the legendary Inter coach Helenio Herrera: “If Pele was the first violinist, Alfredo di Stefano was the whole orchestra.” Well, Messi has done it all tonight, too: conducted the players, performed the odd majestic solo, and put all the chairs away at the end, too. What a player he is. '

Trips over...still assists. Ridiculous.

So glad I stayed up for this. One of the best games I've seen in a while. Argentina can cause any team serious damage.

I'm not sure on that Lib, Chile will be very up for this, and with the crowd behind them and Argentina's lack of defense, they have a real shot at it imo.

Chile will be fearing Argentina after that performance. Not only that but Argentina ALWAYS beat Chile. Doesn't matter where they play, and they usually wrap the game up quickly as well. Chile's defence is worse than Argentina's in my opinion.

Ach I'm just looking for a cracking final tbh, and I think we'll get it.

Now that's the Argentina correspondent to their squad.

Arsenal
I'm hearing rumours Alexis may miss Saturday and that he's been struggling with niggling injuries since the end of club season. As an Arsenal fan I hope he rests and doesn't miss too much early action for Arsenal, but it'd be a real shame not to see him in this final. Going by his personality, he'll go mental if they tell him he can't play in Santiago with Chile's chance at its first trophy in 100 years.

I like you Libertadores, and I'm not Chilean, but I'll be rooting for them on Saturday. A chance to win its first Copa on home soil—and against the Argentinian favourites featuring the best player to ever play? Too good of a story for me to ignore.

I honestly have no problem with people rooting for Chile. I usually root for someone at tournaments in which Peru doesn't participate in, but when people celebrate as much as the Chileans will if they win it, THAT'S when it begins to piss me off. If it puts a smile on your face, I don't have any problem with that.

Don't usually watch a third place match but I might check out Paraguay and Peru tonight.

Argentina will concede. The problem for Chile is that Aguero, Di Maria and Messi is just a ridiculous trio going forward. If they play anything like they did against Paraguay they'll win.

And our Copa America campaign sees us finish third. Great Copa America, even if we didn't beat the bigger sides, we played really well. Much better than the last Copa America in which we got lucky to go as far as we did.

Completely agree with you there, last Copa there was a massive sense of luck with where they finished. This Copa, Peru look a completely different team, and this with Pizarro still making it into the team!

Paraguay was weak in this competition. Not taking the merits of Peru though, whose victory was deserved.

Sanchez has been dreadful. Tries too hard to make an impact and loses possession so easily.

Very even half, but I can see Argentina wrapping up the game quickly in the second half.

And I hope they do. Don't want to even imagine Chile with a cup.

Does Martino actually have any tactics here, they are letting Chile dominate in the midfield and forward line currently,

Martino needs to be sacked whether Argentina wins this or not. You got Messi in your team...and they are hoofing it up.

Fair play to Sanchez...he's got so much energy even into the 110th minute but he's still trying to do too much. It's the biggest weakness in his game.

Chile aren't very good at penalties, even worse than Brazil. Can see Argentina winning this.

Congratulation to Chile for being the second worst champion in the history of Copa America. Only Colombia in 2001 was worse.

Chile were great, Argentina bloody awful, Martino is a horrible manager and Higuain is the biggest big game bottler i have ever seen.

Also, who the hell subs Aguero for Higuain and lets him take a penalty? Christ:bl:

Chile were far from 'great'.
