I wouldn't base anything on what Plant pot has to say.

Says quite clearly, and the key bit in the league comms, around clubs being unable financially to keep playing payers beyond the end of contracts. For that reason alone the season will be null and void, particularly when we look at the far reaching impact of the nation being focused on dealing with a pandemic and the huge variables associated with this that somewhat pale into insignificance football at this level.

I sincerely hope this is the end of unsustainable bankrolling of non league clubs once and for all. Everyone bangs on about the unsustainble wages in the PL and the Championship, but bankrolled non league clubs are forcing some in League Two to overstretch in order to compete/remain in the league.

Mind you, the National League is so incompetent, they'll turn a blind eye to it and allow it to continue once football breaks free from the coronavirus turmoil it finds itself in.

Yep, from this more detailed statement by Hemel's chairman it looks like your chairman was just presenting his opinion as fact.

I don't understand why options 2 and 3 below are mutually exclusive. Why does relegation need to happen if the playoffs take place, but not if auto promotion for 2nd is used?

I think they will go with option 3, I can't see why they would pick option 1 with that on the table. No chance of option 2 so that's Barnet's season over.

Under no circumstances should any league be expunged.it would kill football.
1.Should try and finish season
2.PPG with promotion and relegation
3.PPG with no relegation.
Or if none of above start next season with same format but points from this season carrying on,that would stop a team taking legal against league, plus making this season count.

Clubs have until 7th May to decide whether to vote to end the season or not.

I assume this is so they have a clearer view of when football might be played again, but why confirm the vote now? Yeovil's chairman talks a lot of sense.

Every time Scott makes a statement or posts a video I like him more. What he says here makes complete sense and I hope the other Chairmen agree.

Notts have written to the league and all 68 clubs asking for the resolution to be withdrawn. Making the not unreasonable point that having a vote to end the season without having decided what to do next is ridiculous.

I'm guessing and just guessing here - but i think the EFL and National league have already been talking about scenarios. The EFL will want 1 team to come up from the National league whatever to replace Bury. The National League will want to retain 2 up 2 down between the EFL and National League for future seasons.
I'm guessing the EFL have said something along the lines of - " If you want to keep 2 up 2 down then you come up with a solution for promotion (and relegation) this season that your clubs are happy with (or at least have voted to accept) and that won't make us (the EFL) look bad. IF you can't do that then we'll invite Barrow (I only put Barrow for arguments sake) to join us as they are top of the table both on actual points and PPG."
The National League board will have replied with "But but but but..."
The EFL replied with "Look it's simple Barrow come up - or Barrow +1 come up - you do the maths..."
The National League board replied with "But but but but... how do we do that"
The EFL replied with "FFS - do you actually want 1 up 1 down in future? - that would of course mean you'd be stuck with Wrexham forever...."
The National League replied with "FFS - we didn't think of that... ok we'll sort something out"
The EFL replied with "You've got 10 days to decide"
The National League board then starts talking to itself....

The sad truth is that many on here could see the conversation at least from the National League boards side going along those lines.....

i know it’s non league, but the fact that this needs pointing out is frightening.

The Premier, Football and National Leagues should coordinate to keep a sense of integrity to the pyramid however the seasons end is decided.
Without playing all remaining fixtures It's impossible to say that any outcome is fair.
Football could foreseeably be out of action until Christmas. A virus with no cure, high transmission and at least 1% mortality means we'll have to all live our lives in a state of lockdown limbo until the dreaded herd immunity is achieved through painful increments over months. Not a popular point of view but I've not seen any world government actually have an alternative plan, they just don't like to be honest about it.
I honestly think people expecting the next season to kick off in September are wrong, this virus won't be eradicated by then.
Based on those guesses / assumptions why not furlough all staff or lay them off, ( I'm laid off, no 80% for me) until we have some definitive timeline that the government sets for mass gatherings to re-commence.
As next season will likely also be truncated I'm still of the view that we should have the extraordinary 2019/21 season finishing this season's fixtures and playing each other once next season.

Doubt it will happen, they'll scrub this season and panic in late July when it sinks in that we won't be kicking off as normal next season and the financial problems greatly magnify.

I completely totally absolutely incontrovertibly fully have faith in the National League board to make the right decision for the benefit of its members and the integrity of the competition.

In an emergency EGM at 9 am (via Zoom) it was agreed that the Real Brotherhood League will be voided for this season.

This was much to the ire of the Stockport and Hartlepool brethren who were in a two-way fight for the much coveted title. However, they were persuaded that this was the fairest course of action rather than resolving with the god awful PPG.

Prompt action was taken and once again the Brotherhood exec have shown the National League ditherers the way to enlightened and decisive decision making.

humour at last.... but the issue there is that there is no promotion or relegation involved in the brotherhood - and reformed clubs who are not really the same as the old club are still counted as members...

by the time football starts again Micheal Doyle could be 40 - and we know how late he is when making tackles already... but Ardley will still play him and he'll be sent off within 20 mins and if it's still the same season he'll be on a ban until the end of the season - whichever year or decade that might be.

This. They’re trying to control the uncontrollable. Just leave everything on pause, tell clubs to do what they need to survive (furlough everyone in most cases) and make the decisions about what to do when we actually have some idea of when we can come back.

Great post by Optipez. Football fans understandably being like their football clubs in utterly ignoring the fact football is wholly irrelevant, particularly at our level, in the context of a pandemic.

To argue that the season will somehow magically reappear as you were in 12 months time is massively naïve however. Away from the glaringly obvious issues of continuity, by late summer the simplistic minds of the game will have moved onto getting a new season started.

For clubs to be threatening legal action is abohrent and another example of a game that needs a massive reset whether it likes it or not from this.

A tad unorthodox, but I agree. It will stop teams that are virtually relegated getting an undeserved reprieve.

They are obviously likely to want to make a ridiculous decision but The Brotherhood are more powerful than the National League. No way anything gets passed without them being in agreement with it. Personally I'd leave it to the 6 Proper Clubs to decide what to do, I'd certainly have a lot more faith.

It’s a particularly good idea if, as seems likely, we’re either not going to be back by September or will need another lockdown next Winter. I quite like it.

how would it work though - the teams have played different numbers of games - to make it fair you'd have to work out the points they start with on a PPG basis - so they were all based on the same games. If you're doing that you might as well just PPG the rest of this season anyway.....
