Can clubs not take advantage of the 80% grant? I can imagine the vast majority of players and staff in this league earn less than the £2500 threshold.

Not sure really as footballers aren't employed in the same way as the vast majority of employees, being on fixed term contracts. What happens when this contract ends? Will clubs be allowed to offer them a fresh contract if they cannot meet the terms of it without taking government handouts?

And rightly so. I think the teams in the playoffs might have to write off promotion but that's a small price to pay when so many seem to be pushing an alternative where we just pretend the last 8 months haven't happened.

Our Chairman has put out another video a few minutes ago saying amongst other things that the statement issued today by the National League is confusing and doesn't match the feelings of the clubs he's spoken to over the last few days. He says that us and all other clubs he's spoken to want the rest of the season to be played out. It's a very frank and really good, honest statement from him. Glad to have him on board.

Total shame but circumstances dictate here, given we’ve got according to experts another solid 12 weeks before the ‘ curb’ starts to really flatten on this pandemic. Can anyone realistically see football matches happening and concluding in 12 weeks time for another 6-8 weeks of matches and then to top it off a full season next season taking place? It wouldn’t not finish this season until August. It’s over.

Again, why the rush to play matches in June? The remaining matches of 19/20 can be played in September and the 20/21 season can be altered accordingly.

given that the curve will take 12 weeks to flatten it will most likely take a further 12 weeks to get back to where it is now - so basically 6 months from now we'll still not be playing.

There are already clubs in seemingly dire financial straits, laying off staff etc and we're two weeks into the postponement, which could last for months. What's to say there will be enough clubs in a position to operate if the league was to resume in August? How do you go about providing a wage for players and staff if you're not generating any income?

There's going to be a few clubs in difficulty and it seems pie in the sky to think that our level will recieve any help from the bottomless pit of money that is the Premier League.

I don’t think anyone really knows - the guy from Imperial who is advising the government was saying yesterday that he thinks the peak will be in two to three weeks now. Making any kind of prediction about how long this is going to last is pointless.

Which is why trying to decide what to do with the season now is stupid.

Agreed. The season will be void. As nobody knows what would have happened in the remaining games, it is the only fair way of doing it.

You don’t understand the definition of a hobby club then. Those two chairmen didn’t boost our placing in the non-League pyramid, we have always been a top-tier non-League club and have never competed below the Football Conference since we were one of its founder members in 1979.

You're competing above where your gates say you should be competing because you've always been helped with outside money. I've nothing against Barnet FC per se, but you seem to have this idea that you've survived on football-related income.
