Dover's owner is saying ground capacity could be limited to 15%

If that's really the plan clubs are gonna be losing so much money this season and to be honest I don't even see how this is viable. Maidstone alone will be limited to 630 people when we would normally get 1800-2000 turning up.......I dread to see the type of prices some clubs are gonna charge to try and make up for loss of income.

Is that 15% of seated areas or 15% full stop (not sure on Dover's capacity)? There was talk about treating terrace and seating areas differently.

Dover only has 1500 seats in their. I’d expect clubs like us, Notts County and Wrexham to be granted much larger temporary ground capacities.

Don't want to be a Debbie downer but does anyone really think this up coming season will be properly finished??

Step 5 and 6 have only just started and some leagues are already seeing lots of games cancelled due to covid......with cases steadily rising I can't see how this isn't gonna be a problem for everyone. Specially with our season already starting 2 months late its gonna be problematic if/when we start to see lots of games cancelled.

Add to the situation of a potential bad winter weather wise, we could be seeing lots of teams playing 3-4 times a week trying to finish the season or just catch up.

It is certainly a possibility. I don’t trust the government to ensure that they can maintain a balance of allowing fixtures to be played and keeping the level of COVID in the community at a low enough level to ensure public safety.

Agree, one of those leagues is where my "other" team plays the Midland Football League.
On Saturday 2 games were postponed due to Covid19 outbreaks.
This midweek 6 games are postponed due to outbreaks.
Its certainly not looking good. It guess it depends on which clubs can afford the weekly tests.

Lots of new cases but the majority have no symptoms, there will certainly be lots of postponements but life needs to go on. With reduced capacity and social distancing inside grounds it’s a start. The whole county not just footy needs to learn to live with this thing for now, there may never be a vaccine and even if there is they are not 100% proof anyway.

Have the NL decided upon and announced the policy if the season doesn’t get finished? PPG? But only after a certain number of games have been played?

I doubt it, they’re never that organised. Less than month before season and we’re only getting fixtures now.

We have had to pull out of a home game against Hednesford Town on Saturday, as apparently the Welsh gov arent letting us play it and we have to play teams within our league only, again i assume to limit the amount of contact

however we only found this out from Hednesford, and not our own club twitter

To be fair to em, I’ve not read about any of those decisions from the EFL either, and their season starts this weekend.

Hednesford are gonna get sued for leaking such sensitive information.

The thing is that these covid postponements we're seeing in these early stages at Steps 5 and 6 are generally quite misleading, as all it takes at that level is one positive test for an entire squad to have to self-isolate. And though there are several matches postponed in some particular leagues, there should still be enough teams without any covid in the squad to quickly rearrange fixtures and largely keep things moving.

But losing two weeks every time there's a single positive test in a squad is going to cause all sorts of problems and definitely lead to fixture congestion down the line. Clubs will be desperate for a better winter than the last one weather-wise to reduce the impact wherever possible.

So does that mean you are not going to pla any friendlies now, can’t see many opponents wanting to play you.

Tbf, even the PL and EFL haven't agreed it yet.

I think the PL vote is this week and I suspect the EFL and NL will just follow suit.

Not a clue!

So far no updates at all from our Club, they have stopped giving us weekly updates as well after throwing us some signings

Borehamwood high fiving each other at the news that gatherings under 6 people are still allowed.

Also, it would be lovely to know what happens when/if the season stops. If it ever starts.

Pretty sure organised team sports are exempt providing they are carried out safely. I'd imagine the restriction in ground capacity means it is being carried on in a safe way so i'd expect this not to have any impact on the start of the league season.

The rise in CV cases isn't all what it is being reported as in the media. The increase suggests we are back on our way up towards March levels, when the reality is increased testing within the younger age demographic who have little or no symptoms is leading to the rise.

Personally, i think Covid 19 is here to stay and will continue to mutate (as it already has been doing) in much the same way the Flu and Common Cold do. Similarly to the winter flu, a vaccine will likely become available to the more vulnerable in society but the majority of people will likely get it and get over it either without too much complication or without any symptoms.
