New thread for the new season of super tin pot county cups.

What cups are you all in this year & do you intend to stick out the youth until the final then play your first team & lose (a la Sutton)?

Pretty much. We're at local rivals Harrow Borough tonight in the Middlesex Senior Cup. No doubt it will be a mixture of youth and fringe players out there.

Hmm I wonder who we will embrass ourselves against this year in the Derbyshire Senior Cup?

We get a bye from this round. Wouldn't mind drawing Heanor away. Because I can walk to that game. Other than that I couldn't care less.

We only went and whipped Basildon United of the Essex Senior League 6-0 last week with a full strength side.

How great are we?

Rule change in 2014/15 means that Conference National League teams enter in the Senior Cup rather than the Challenge Trophy, which starts with National North. This was Barrow's first season back in the Senior Cup then since the 1970s, though both equal wastes of time - we were fined £75 a few years ago for playing a weakened team in the Challenge Trophy! Still, at least we have the novelty of playing a bigger team and this year we were eliminated by Blackburn Rovers on penalties.

Not entirely sure how the top teams do or don't enter - Man Utd and Everton are in it, but Man City and Liverpool aren't....

Afaik you can pay your primary county FA a fee to be able to play a youth team or a bigger fee to opt out for the season.

The reason I say primary county FA is because some teams (mostly around London) are members of 2 county FA's... in our case Surrey is primary so we have to enter (or pay fees etc) but our London FA membership is secondary so we don't have to enter in to those competitions if we don't want too with no fee's

Gainsborough Trinity won the Lincs Cup last night, beating Scunny 2-0.

I think that's a late final even by Lincs FA standards.

Awaiting the draw for the next round of the Cheshire cup, still waiting on Hyde and Stockport to play their tie.

We beat Witon Albion 5-0 in the 1st round.

Our tie away at Maidstone has finally been arranged, 24th November I believe. Two days before our FA Youth Cup game away at Wimbledon which I can actually go to as it's a Thursday!

We're at home to Walton & Hersham on Monday the 30th. I suspect we'll play a mixed squad at best.

Has nobody told the organisers that Middlesex has been DEAD for fifty years

Have to say, I'm not sure I knew there was still a Middlesex Senior Club still in existence - I'm not sure why there shouldn't be but it does seem like a rather a small geographic area. Densely populated, admittedly, but it can't sustain that many football clubs, surely? I'll probably think of loads now I've said that...

Ashford Town can fuck off... you're either Surrey FA or Middlesex FA. It's not as ambiguous as the London FA.

Why are Barnet not competing in Herts

Nice to see Northwood - my mother's glorious hometown/dull suburb - represented though

Quite funny though that they seemingly retain the bracketed Middlesex to avoid confusion with the other Ashford Town who err, NO LONGER EXIST, having died and resurrected themselves as Ashford United.

Our website shows us away at Cheadle in this competition.

Also away at Prescott Cables in the Liverpool Senior Cup.

I'm pretty sure Middlesex also has a secondary county competition, the Middlesex Charity Cup

Because we now play in middlesex. The border betwean Herts and Mddx was only 100 yards from underhill and years ago we used to compete in the Mddx comp before switching to Herts.
Looking forwards to it, nice to get a chance to play Enfield and Hendon again

We sent our under-21's to some glorified scouse pub team in the Liverpool Senior Cup the other night and got beat 1-0. Apparently we gave them their record attendance too - 186 fans. Getting knocked out and not having a single first-team player involved is by far the best outcome we've had in this competition for years (and that includes winning the pointless thing)!

Hitchin beat Borehamwood 3-1 in the Hertfordshire Senior cup final.

We suffered a poor second round exit to the wood, with a team that actually had some first team squad players in it. Our 13 year Hertfordshire trophy drought continues.
